Played this morning around 8:00 am, joining three regulars, walking from the blue tees. They had a barbecue going for burgers and hot dogs when I finished and the restaurant was packed with locals. Nice to see. The snack shack at the 2nd and 14th greens was closed, from what I was told probably permanently. No drink cart. We played in 4:20, falling a shot behind at the end.

The conditions were very good. Green and lush fairways for the most part. Some barer areas but I was not in any. The rough was generally cut down but was on occasion a factor. The sand traps did not have much sand in them. There was enough, but barely. The greens were very nice, running fast and true. I had three three-putt bogeys, twice when it ran out more than expected (front left pin position on #1 is always bad when putting from above the hole) and once when I left a lengthy putt woefully short. I really like the greens here when they are running like this.

Overall, a great experience. Recommended.

A quick review of El Dorado a few days after taking on a couple inches of rain and the results are in: no good! It was cart path only but didn't matter to me since I walk, but I would wager the people in the carts got more steps in than I did. CPO was brutal on POP; teed off at 12:30 and finished right around 5:40 with a sliver of light still. Lots of waiting on tee boxes and watching people park and walk 100 yards from path to their shot and then walk back to their cart. It was a beautiful day at least.

As for course conditions: woof. Almost every fairway had numerous small ponds, and if there wasn't standing water the turf was extremely soggy. Feels like it's gonna take some time for things to dry out. But even looking past that, there were still lots of areas in fairways that look like they need to work on. I will say the greens and tee boxes were in pretty good shape. Was in one trap and it had good sand. Rough was pretty short and playable.

Don't get to play this one very often so I was disappointed in the conditions but hopefully I get a chance to play once conditions improve

Played 11/23/25. The greens were in great shape. We have had a little under 5.5" of rain this past week so it was cart paths only, and there was plenty of slopy fairways and standing water on some holes. It was definitely a lift clean and place type of day. The pace of play started off a little slow, but picked up and really moved well on the back nine. Give it a week or so to start to dry, but it is still a fun round of golf. The bunkers could use a little TLC.

Played on Wednesday, November 12, before 7:00 am. The course was crowded but we still managed to get around in just over 4 hours. There was a marshal out early which was appreciated. No cart service and the on course snack stand was not open.

The course was in great shape. The rough was cut down in most places but it was fairly lush anyway. The fairways were very nice although there were some bare spots. A few of the tee boxes were not in level areas but they were generally good (#18 not so much). The greens were outstanding. Fast and smooth, they were a joy to putt on. The front right pin position on #1 was devilish considering the speed.

I always like coming to ElDo but it is especially nice with the conditions so good. I used to play here regularly and was able to say hi to one of the regulars from 20 years ago. If I were a Long Beach resident I would be out here all the time also. Recommended.

RPGC tournament this weekend at El Dorado - my favorite Long Beach course. I feel it has the best layout, biggest challenge and most rewarding round in the area. It's flat but has plenty of challenge to it. And right now, the biggest challenge is those speedy greens.

They're really in top shape right now, running very fast but holding shots and their lines very well. Impressive for sure. The rest of the course is also in pretty darn good shape to be fair. Fairways have nice coverage throughout, although there were some areas with standing water from the recent rains. Rough is very playable while the bunkers were obviously impacted by the weather, but nowhere near as bad as anticipated.

My flight played from the white tees and the tee boxes were all flat and well kept - no issues there. Overall just very nice conditions right now at El Dorado.

POP was a little on the slow side but it was a tournament so it makes it somewhat understandable, and in truth we didn't hit any real slowdowns until the back nine. Before that things were running very smoothly (with the exception of my swing). We were required to ride for this event as well and the carts are nothing special but serviceable (and no GPS).

Played El Dorado Park Golf Course on Wednesday, April 23rd at 7:45am. The course was in great condition and the range was packed at 8:00am. $68 time, but the guy in the shop charged us the senior rate because there was a mix-up with the time (nice guy). The greens were in great condition and rolled very well. Probably anywhere from 10-11 and the fairways were also in great condition. We finished at 12:20 for about 4 and a half hours. We never felt rushed and only waited on a few shots - the pace felt good. Overall was happy with the experience although I would have a hard time paying more than 70 bucks.

Played last Friday at El Dorado with two friends and a single that joined us. Booked online and I accept that if I choose to walk I am still bound to pay the riding fee from the Internet, but I don't have to love it. I don't love it. Three of us walked, one rode, playing the blue tees.

Course is in good shape all around. Nothing great, nothing awful. I thought the greens were in pretty nice shape with medium speeds and good lines. Fairways had mostly good-decent coverage all over, but a few thin areas could be found. Rough was no issue. Bunkers had some inconsistent but decent sand - make adjustments. Tee boxes were okay.

POP was pretty good finishing at around four hours and forty-five minutes, but it felt like longer out there on the par 3s where the backups were significant. Luckily we had some cart service come around but for some reason (it was CPO) even the cart girl can't drive to meet you in the fairway? Kind of odd but whatever.

I've seen El Do in better shape for sure, but also in much worse, so I'll take it.

Making anything more than a tap in was pure luck. Tee boxes mostly chewed up. At the turn, the bar was literally out of food. No sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers, just candy and chips. They mumbled something about a shift change. Anyway, I like this course but hard to recommend right now.

Played a GK Cup match at El Dorado and got a very good midweek (and probably twilight) walking rate of $57. Feels like stealing nowadays in Long Beach! Kramnetto2 and I had a 2pm tee time with Mark playing from the blue tees and I played from the whites. A very hot day!

Course conditions are not as good as I've seen them here before, but by no means poor in any way. The fairways had plenty of nice, lush patches all around, but of course there were also some thinned out and drier areas in case you got unlucky. The rough is completely playable right now though, while the bunkers were not really too great as they had varying degrees of sand - some very thin and frustrating, others pretty decent, but none superb.

Tee boxes that I played were flat and level with mostly good coverage. They're holding up well with all the traffic and hot temperatures of late. And the greens? Well, they held shots well and rolled relatively true, but there were definitely a lot of pitch marks to navigate and the speeds felt a little inconsistent over the round, but nothing too crazy to bring a lot of negative attention.

The layout is always super fun at El Dorado with lots of tree-lined fairways, some dangerous water features on select holes, and strategic bunkers that are a lot more daunting when the sand isn't in great shape. But overall it's a very solid eighteen holes of golf with plenty of variety, but nothing in terms of elevations.

We had cart service come around a few times which was nice for a midweek round. So yes, all in all another good showing from the pick of the Long Beach litter.
