Greens are aereated. Nice thing though they posted a sign 1 week prior to their service and then another notice that the greens were aereated. Nice work. Told the staff. Their reasoning if the customer knows they won't be so disappointed. And you know something they are right. Played twilight golf and rode. Finished 9 holes relatively quickly. We were just a twosome behind a 5-some. After the nine decided to jump around front 9 and made up some holes. Greens are still bumpy from aereation. They do have some bounce to the roll but not a lot. Greens are very receptive though and an aggressive high shot to the green is really rewarded. Fairways are a bit overwatered. They need to mark the muddy areas and keep folks from riding over the muddy grass; killing it as Kviser said in a post in our forums. Less work on their part beforehand will pay dividends in the future. Rough and waste areas are still trouble but a confident shot out of trouble will be rewarded. Balls tend to roll a lot here so being long could be rewarded as well. Should be OK in a few more weeks.

The course is close to home and worth the green fee. With a little attention it could be greatly improved. The greens were okay, the fairways and tee boxes need attention.

If there was a golf course found on Mars you'd have The Links at Victoria. It looks promising when driving by it on the 405 but up close its a different story. The powers that be have really done a great job in making sure this track rots. There were bare spots in every fairway....no wait....you would consider yourself lucky if your ball found some grass on the fairway. It became laughable on Hole 11 where the countless divots from 100yds in looked as if a major gopher war took place on it. Greens were slow and soft from obvious overwatering. Being in the bunker was like hitting your ball off the cart path...dry and hard.

It took our group over 5 1/2 hrs to play the round with no marshal to be found. It took us nearly 3hrs to finish the 1st 9!! Hole 6 was backed up 2 groups deep and this is a Par 5!! The course doesn't have any water on it, almost no trees and rough no deeper than 3 inches......why?

If you want to pay $23 to play this course then bring plenty of water/gatorade b/cuz you will not see the refreshment cart on the course. Stock up at the beginning of your round and again when you make the turn. This really is the last time I play here. My clubs are worth more than the abuse it takes on this barren wasteland.

I played this course last weekend and the conditions were AWFUL! Tee boxes need to be cleaned up, greens were slow and bumpy with divot damage, and the fairways didn't look like fairways at all.

There were a few times I was hitting off of mud or dirt in the middle of the fairways! It was ridiculous.

The pace of play was horrible as well. The group in front of us couldn't keep up with the one in front of them and it took nearly 6 hours to get through 18 holes. The marshal was no where to be found and even when we got to the back 9 and the starter was sitting right there with a 3 group backup of players, he said nothing.

I will NEVER go back to this course again even if they paid me to go.

I play here all the time and for $23 buck during the week, you can't beat it. Course is windy in the afternoon so I am able to work on my knockdown shots. Greens are slow but they roll nicely. Tee boxes are very nice and level. Course is wide open so it's a bombers paradise. Pace of play is slow but beats alondra, chester washington any day.

Been getting a lot of golf in lately. Played today with Swing18. Course is GREEN. Not the burned out look it normally has. Looks like staff and new management is really taking care of the place. New practice green out front looks good. Range balls are still $8 for a large bucket compared to $9 everywhere else, but balls look tired. Greens are slow but in good shape. They roll true, even the practice green and it wasn't cut yet. Not a lot of break on greens. They tend to break 1-2 feet from the hole. A good firm put seemed to work best. Fairways are GREEN as indicated earlier and they seem to be overwatering. Some mushy parts so be carefull where you tread, you may just loose a shoe. ESA... is brown but typical for this time of the year and it looks as if they are even taking care of the ESA. They have a Gopher problem as it seems they have come back in droves. Hole 13 is rife with them little doggies. Sand is OK.. its hard packed but once i figured that out .. it was dealable. Was having some back pain towards end of 7 holes and got myself a cart after 9. They were helpful. Saw marshall once in outing on back 9. Play was fast on front but got slow suddenly on back.....Still 4 1/2 hours is not bad for this course considering it was the weekend and for some strange reason the course of relatively empty. Great deal at $30 walking.

Victoria is a good value muni. Since it's close to my office, it's a good place to get on after work and play nine with co-workers. Generally not too difficult (no water, limited sand), especially if you keep it out of the wood chips. All in all, good for a pretty fun round of golf.

This golf course is one of the most horrible golf courses in LA County. The customer service is very nice but the overall golf experience was horrible. Fairways were horrible because there were layers of fairway and the greens were slow as heck. Its like a wasteland with a flagstick and a hole. Do not play here.

Average course.....however greens in great shape and overall the course is pretty wide open and you will not get in trouble until the afternoon breezes kick up. This time our round was pretty fast, but sometimes some of the hackers can really slow you down. Wish the Marshalls would push the slower groups along. Very forgiving course

I played here today and found things haven't changed all that much. I used to play here quite a bit until it started to revert back to it's goattrack condition. Things are starting to turn back around albeit slowly. The tee boxes have been re-worked and there is plenty of level grass to tee your ball and take a stance. The greens are in good shape (a couple were bumpy) but the people who play here still don't know how to repair their ball marks. The fairways are a different story...lots of bare spots, lots of spots re-sodded with 7 or 9 different types of grass, lots of marked ground under repair. The bunkers had halfway decent dirtsand/rocks...all were wet but raked. There are numerous environmental areas some of which are irrigated? and chopped?...what's the point of that??? Victoria will never be a great muni but for $23 to walk you can have a decent day of golf.

Played Sunday 6/1... honestly, from the satellite picture I saw on Greenskeeper.org , I hadn't expected much, because from that image, it looked like the course hadn't been very well maintained, with a lot more brown than green on the fairways. Playing the course, though, I was pleasantly surprised to find the course was in decent shape (though not great) and more challenging than expected, especially since so many holes played into brisk crosswinds. The greens were the highlight of the course, as many of them were difficult to read, many because of their actual breaks and a few because of their "optical illusion" non-breaks. Well-struck tee shots got a lot of roll on the fairways, but there were some patches that were too hard and caused some club bounce. Club selection was definitely influenced by the winds, since the crosswinds tended to really knock balls down. (I was tempted to play a pitching wedge from 90 yards out on one early hole, then switched it out at the last moment for a 9-iron and just made the front of the green with a well-struck ball.) Pace of play was OK (a little over 5 hours), spurred on by a marshal on the back 9 who seemed to be telling everyone to speed things up... hole 14 seemed to be a bit of a logjam, because it's a very difficult par 3 playing into the wind across a chasm (sounds better than "drainage ditch," doesn't it?)... so a lot of people seemed to be playing additional shots from the drop area. Noise can also be a problem on the back 9, as you're playing within earshot of the 405 freeway and, when the winds were right, you can sometimes hear the loud drone of the nearby go-cart track. Overall, though, a decent afternoon of golf for the price.

Good layout. Primarily a links style layout. Back nine is harder than front. The last 3 finishing holes are a tough stretch.

Tee boxes: level and lush, Fairways: avg lush, Greens: avg good, Rough: avg lush, Practice Facility: good (includes range from grass and mats, 3 putting greens, chipping area, and practice bunker), Customer Service: good, Pace of Play: 5 hours, Overall Service: Good, Overall Rating: Good Course and an enjoyable layout.

terrible customer service. Was first group on the waiting list (twosome), but the starter took cash from another twosome and let them play ahead. When i approached the starter and GM about it, they said the starter called my name; which is bs because I was in the store looking at a shirt to buy at the time. Terrible management from American Golf. The starter and GM deserved to be exposed and get fired.

Teed off at 10:20 Easter Sunday (after church). Everything at Victoria is about the same as I remember it always being. Ragged from tee to green with big, hilly, nice looking, slow greens. Windy in the afternoon, with that nice stretch of closing holes from 12 to 18, where you turn back into the wind and try to hang on to a decent round. Pace of play was typically ridiculous at a little over 5 1/2 hours, but the whether was so nice it didn't even bother me.

played on the 15th... some things never change.. we had a 12:22 tee time, got out @ 1pm...this course is right up there with los verdes when it comes to slow play, it took us 3 3/4 hours to play nine... we called the starter twice about the group ahead of us being two holes behind... when the marshal did show up drove right on by... we packed it in after 12 holes.

the course it self is in soso shape, the only bright point was the greens, fast and true.

Played here Saturday. Have to say it played slow. (5 hours) but greens are in great shape. Ran fairly true. Grass is still a problem as it's sparse in some places. Waiting until when it starts to warm up to see if grass will actually grow. Tee boxes are still showing signs of the update. Not a good sign as I think some of the grass here did not take. But still was suprised at how much faster it played considering it was the weekend -- was actually expecting 6 hours. Easy to get out as walk-on twosome. One thing to note we were breathing down the necks of the threesome ahead and we saw no one behind us for quite a while. They would show up and then disappear as we hoofed it on the course.

All the rain left things a bit soggy... cart paths only for carts today. The greens are in really great shape... fairways leave quite a bit to be desired... the course has be working on the tee boxes and they're coming along nicely even though most of them are on the thin side. The only downside about today was when our group complained about the group in front which was 2 holes behind... the marshall's response, "they're regulars so be patient". For the money it's worth playing.

Overall the course is very good shape, they're working on few area but nothing major. The greens are in excellent shape, especially for a public course. For the money this course is worth playing, and when the fairways improve towards spring and summer then it's definitely a course to play.

Played Jan 19. Greens were soft and slow., but smooth. Fairways were hard and very spotty with a lot of dirt areas in the landing zones. This was the worst part of the course. Sand was great. Service and carts were good. Practice area was restricted to mats. Good walking course.

Played 12/27/07 thursday just before noon.Last golf rounding of year 2007 selected here Victoria cause one lazy buddy mine who lives in Palos Verdes never want to drive far to play golf.I can't complain about this course cause I'm paying only $30.00 + something dollars with cart and very good maintained greens.
But fairways are totally different story .Very ugly thin & still looks dormant grass.Lots of divots on tee boxes. We thought that we will not finish the round but we did in 4 hours & 45minutes.

Where's the money? Obviously they are not spending it on the maintenance budget. The course is falling back to what it used to be....a dump. Teeboxes and fairways are very thin and spotty. The greens are very soft and bumpy. And of course the pace of play.....5 1/2 HOURS!

Played Saturday 11/23, had a 930 tee time, teed off over 30 minutes late. Very slow round, as usual, greens were in great shape, fairways and traps okay, tee boxes sub par. It's what you expect for an LA County course in terms of condition and pace of play.

They do not take RSVP for singles. We arranged time as twosome. Swing18 and I played at a blistering pace of just under 4 hours. They have repaired most of the tee boxes--resodded and level. They should come back in around 1-2 months if the grass takes hold. Very flat; very nice; great launching point. Greens are rolling well; a little bouncy but certainly playable. One thing you can say and I agree that the greens here roll where they are supposed to. If it looks left then expect a left turn the question is how much and how fast. Greens here do not hold low shots. Lofted shots will stick softly. Great work on the greens too as they are taking great pains to repair divots. Not bad if you ask me. Fairways very brown to barren. They are trying to fix that by repairing and mapping the irrigation system there are still a few overwatterd parts, leaks and the like in addition to the dormant grass in the fairway. Saw one of the workers there mapping it out and marking out the irrigation system. There are small improvements to the course. Looks like new management cares about the facility which is a nice turn of events. I would say it is far from complete but a nice start in the right direction. ESA is barren and non existent but you see they have been working on planting and re-marking the ESA boundaries. Overall very happy with changes so far. Time will tell their resolve. Would wait the month it would take for them to open up tee boxes as all holes play from forward tees. No challenge if you want to play against the Carson winds in the PM. Fast play. Definately a deal at $24 to walk before twilight on a weekday.

Have not played here for several months. A lot of work has been done on this course since I last played here. All of the tee boxes have been leveled and resodded, however on the back 9 they are still blocked off and you have to tee off from the front tees. The greens were the best in the area considering that everyone have recently aerated the greens. I will be back....I hope that the ground crew can keep this course watered especially all the new sodded tee boxes.

Played the Links at Victoria. For teeing off at around 1:30 we managed to play the round just under 5 hours which is extremely good. Course was aerated about a week and a half ago but the greens ran fairly well. A little bumpy not that many divots but... If your use to playing an la county or city course the greens are running average and decent meaning it's good enough to play if you live in the area and don't want to travel but wouldn't play if your an hour away. Weather was great nice and cool!!! Back nine tee boxes are under construction. Had to hit from the whites and gold. For the dogpatch that this is known for and i still enjoyed myself.

I've played this course many many times over the years but I can't recall when the greens have ever been this nice. Granted there are a number of tee boxes that are being redone so there are temporary one's for now so this in turn has shortened up the course. This has always been an inexpensive local track that is over played but things look to be improving... I just hope they don't up the price$$$$.

Golf course is in pretty bad shape. It was wide open because no one was there due to victoria re-doing all the tee boxes there and putting patches of grasses on random spots on the course so there is alot of grounds under repair there right now. greens play fairly slow but look in decent shape(wish people can fix their divots!) I think this course just like any other course around l.a. just needs a good amount a rain and we should start seeing more green instead of brown.

Played Sunday 7/1, walked on at 6:10AM no problem. Course was saturated with water, fairways and bunkers very wet. Fairways were in very poor shape, lots of dirt, and probably because of conditions were not mowed well. Tee boxes also in bad shape. Greens however were very nice, smooth, receptive, a little slow, really looked good. Slow round due to my playing partners playing so slow, at least three of them, the woman in the cart with me was great. If you are going to walk, you need to learn where to place your bag so you are not going back for it, but always moving forward, plus hurry up, you are slowing the rounds for everyone behind you for the rest of the day, we ended up two holes behind by 13th hole, I was embarrassed, and apologize to everyone playing behind us.

For some strange reason I play better here. Got out at twighlight. Pace rather brisk and finished 9 after 2 hours. Light was factor even that being longest day of the year. Left after 10. Greens and area around greens in relatively good shape. Problem is the fairways. They are burned out and looks like really poor irrigation. I am not picky but you watch as the sprinklers turn on after 6pm and you will see the Carson winds push the water East instead of spreading the water around well. You would think the architect would have figured that out but hey I suppose no too many folks are smart and thoughtful. $16 twighlight and walking is a good deal if you can work past the waste areas and lousy fairways. Rest of the course is in good shape. Oh yeah and you boneheads that don't fix divots; fix them for crying out loud! I mean how hard is it to fix your divot and someone elses? Some of the greens look the surface of the moon.

Played Twighlight at 4:30PM. Finished front 9 in 2 hours. Could have finished back 9 but it was crowded. Greens in good shape. One pet peeve -- You jokers have to fix your divots. They don't fix themselves. Sand in bunkers decent. Playable and well stocked with sand -- not hard pan. Fairways are a bit thin; strange for this time of year but have noticed their watering system isn't very efficient in the wind and it gets windy in Carson. Rough and waste areas are that; stay out of it. I was pleasently suprised greens though rolled much better than El Dorado earlier this week. Greens had were a bit bouncy in part to the fact someone folks really don't fix their divots. Typical links course where you hit ball in front it will roll to the back. It's a fun course if it plays fast. My only disappointment was we didn't get to finish even after a 2 hour front 9 with a slow group in front and a single that didn't even invite us to play with him.

Played Victoria on 11 June after about a three month absence. The course is getting worse not better. I understand a new management company has been hired to get it into shape. I hope so. I did notice the sand traps were in better condition. Good sand and good depth. The greens were in fair condition but slow. The fairways and rough were bad. This could be a great course if it was maintained by a good company.

WeLL I made it out to play links style after about 4yrs or so. This wasn't a links style course at this time. The whole idea of links is FAST!!!! This course played slow and the greens even slower. The condition the course is in right now played yesterday (6-11-07) shotty. Wouldn't suggest to play this one for a least 1 or 2 yrs. This course has alot of recovery to do. It looked like the greensKeeper sleep all winter and tring to play catch up during the summer just DOESN'T work. My over all rating on the course at present time is about a 4. VICTORIA has alot on there plate in order to get this one back in shape. See 4 yourselfs the LINKS are missing.

P.S. if you were able to play just from the bunkers there rating about an 8 almost perfect in the sand. :o)

Greens were in great shape but the fairways just got aerated and all the fairways have the core from the aeration all over the place. Also parts of the fairways and tee boxes are getting dried out. Enjoyable quick round here today, but they need to crank up the watering of the fairways and tee boxes.

Well Ole Vic is open again and playing a FULL 18 holes. Course is in pretty good shape if you look at just the greens. They run a bit slower than the look but they run true. No bouncy balls, very little divot repair work needed. Fairways are a different story. They look bare and thin. You can deal with it but expect a lot of roll for your ball when it hits the ground. Traps were the biggest suprise. Unfortunately for me I hit more than my fair share of them and I am happy to say their sand is pretty fluffy. No hard pan here they are pretty well filled. Currently they are working on improving their Environmentally sensative area with a new irrigation system. Don't ask me why but they are also planting a few more shurbs and weeds so by Summer it should a pretty nice place to loose your ball. At the moment however it's barren. Tee boxes are OK and looks like they do a pretty good job of rotating the tee spots. Played with the wind most of the round and it can get pretty dusty. I work only a couple of miles from this course and hit a few balls on my lunch break quite frequently, but I have never played here until recently. The course is in reasonably good shape considering how dry it has been. It is a straight forward layout with only a few interesting holes, but still fun. Greens were in decent shape and rolled pretty true, but slower than other tracks. The most noticeable thing about the course is in between the fairways they have a dirt/wood-chips type of substance that will suck up your ball never to be found. Obviously you want to keep it in the fairway, but even if you don't you'd still like to be able to find your ball.

Overall a good course to play, price is about right at $35 during the week.

I don't think the Course was closed as the last reviewers said.
The course is open to 9 holes play during weekdays, and you can repeat the first 9 holes to get 18 holes in. The Front 9 is open till early Feb. then switch to the Back 9 till end of February. For Weekends the full 18 holes are open.
Actually, the 9 holes turn time is very fast, less than 2 hrs. and the course is not crowded at all.
EPA is checking on Methane as alternate energy source.

I called at about 830am on 1/23 and they told me a single could get right on. I got there and the course was closed! The EPA is doing a study and they close course this week at 9AM. Would have been nice if they mentioned this on the phone. The people who work at the course must have been exposed to the chemicals EPA is looking for, which accounts for lack of customer service.

I Played there with a 5some on Jan 5th 2007. This was my first time playing there and enjoyed it very much. All of the staff and crew were very nice.

It was typical winter golf. Fairways were a little brown but coverage was pretty good. Greens were great. very smooth and fast. Tee boxes were in excellent shape as well. It was windy as heck which made i real challenging. Overall it was a real fun round. I will definitely be back soon.

Played 12/31/06 last day of the year at midmorning.
Paid just 50% green fee of special appreciation day of American golf courses. Now this course getting better & better each time I play. For the 42 dollars course worth totally to play .
Even pace of play was very fast(usually very busy ).
Greens are best things here with good smooth ,true rolling with medium/fast speed.Fairways generally in good shape also tee boxes.Completely worth the green fee.

Played 11/23/06 thanksgiving day.
I never cross my mind to book here at the time to decide where to play .I play here only when other guys book here and call me.
I see pretty much improvement of course conditions especially greens.Rolling medium/fast ,smooth & true.
Fairway's grass in better shape finding less bare spots than last time but some areas (spots) pretty soggy can ruin turf passing cart leaving tire marks. Best of this course is their snack bar has always different kind of soups .One can enjoy other meal than always classic hot dogs.

You won't believe this even if I swore it were true but the greens at ole Vic were in good shape. They rolled true. The disappointing thing is that they will areate soon so the good times may be over. Run don't walk if you want to play. Got out Sat afternoon with light traffic. I mean we flew through the front nine in just over 2 hours. Back 9 had slight traffic but we did finish. Fairways in good shape. Waste areas were a joke. I am talking knee high mulch along the 3 and 9 holes. Just don't go in it but if you do safe bet, take the stroke penalty and drop outside the junk. I watched one guy totally whiff his shot out of there only to have the ball burried. They did a good job of rotating the tee positions for minimal wear. Greens were the best I have seen. Few spots where the neds playing before us did not fix their divots but the surface of the moon was a thing of the past. Overall pleased but I know that playing that day at that time and that fast is a fluke at best.

Played this course on 18 Oct. 2006. Very hot day but only one water station and it was on the front nine. Yardage markers require attention. Hard to detrermine the yardage to the pin. Only stakes for the 100 yardage and 150 Yard marker.

New owners.....well they must be putting some $$$ in the course. The greens did not look good from a far, but they were smooth and rolled very true. In fact the best I have seen in years. The fairways were wet due to the heavy watering, but this was great to see green fairways. I will be back.....worht the money. I am looking forward to some of the improvement and changes they are making to the course.

Have not played here in almost 2 years....looks like they are trying very hard to make this a nice course. Cart paths all around the course, greens and fairways nicely trimmed. The greens were in fair -good condition...rolled fairly nice and fairways were relatively green with some dry spots. However this course has had a long long history with this latter problem. This is a very forgiving course....wide open fairways, not much trouble, and undulating greens (which could be smoother and more uniform). Nice fun course and fairly priced.

If Goldilocks were a golfer, she'd describe this course as, "Just right!". And, I would have to agree. I play this course on Tuesday mornings before the Men's weekly league and the more I play it, the more I'm enjoying the course. It's inexpensive ($21.50 during the weekday sans cart), it's walkable, it's challenging enough, and the people that work there are friendly. If you can get out on a weekday, this course is a must play. FYI, they have a well organized Women's league and they're always looking for more members.

I played Victoria on 6/4/06, and considering the weather being 90 degrees, the conditions were great. There were no dried out areas on the course. The rough could be a just a bit thicker. The greens rolled smooth and had no major divot marks. It was a 5.5 hr round, which isn't too bad for an LA County course. It's a fun links layout course to play, and the green fees reasonable. If you want to shoot a good round, this is the course to play :)

Note to self, NEVER play golf on Memorial Holiday. Crowded as I have seen any local course. 6 HOUR round. I swear it was like going to work. Greens in OK shape. A bit slow for my taste but if they were to cut it down a bit they will run smooth and true. Course in good shape but they are mulching their waste areas again. So if you don't like the smell of nature I would not visit here in the near future. Pace of play was for lack of a better word slow. Our fivesome kept pace with a foursome ahead relatively easily. Just wish the greens were a little faster. Only bad note was the greens show some thatch. Actually reminds me of Torrey Pines but not as fast.

Pace is extremely slow -- too crowded. Took 3+ hours to play just 9 holes on May 5th. There were people playing without bags -- just a few clubs in their hands. Fairways are wide open -- condition is not bad.

I used to play this course a lot until it got to be a goat track...again! I played there yesterday (4/27) because I heard they got a new greenskeeper. I was pleased to see some improvements because I've always liked the layout. Sod patches in the fairway, leveling of tee boxes, things like that. The greens were still recovering from a recent aeration; they were still a little sandy and slow. The bunkers seem to have good sand, not hard-packed. There were some bare fairway lies. All-in-all it was a good experience for the price.

For the money, $28 walking on weekends, this course is a bargain. From the back tees, it plays 6804 yards, one of the tougher layouts lengthwise in LA County. Fairways are decent, not perfect, and greens are very good, rolls are smooth and true. Also, a new course superintendent was hired a few months ago and is making visible improvements. The one problem is pace of play. The course management doesn't do anything, literally, to manage pace of play. So, 5+ hour rounds are common.

Played 12/23. Course in okay shape. Greens in decent condition as usual, hard but relatively smooth and quick. Fairways okay but thin in many spots. Tee boxes very thin, lots of damage. Traps were light on sand. Pace was okay for the day. Played w/ my 10 year old, so that's always a good day.

I read the comments and all I hear is b@tch, b@tch, b@tch. it's a county golf course. it does 115K rounds a year. it shows the wear. All I can say is if your unhappy about the golf course go someplace else. this market has enough golfers who want affordable golf expect these conditions. if you want better course conditions then pay more in greens fees. you get what you pay for. a 31.00 green fee is a 31.00 golf course. If you don't like it go to orange county and pay 115.00 then you get the course conditions you want. but I think you'll b@tch about that too.

This course was not as bad as the earlier reviews. I thought that this place was going to be a dump but it wasn't. It's in decent shape. The only bad thing is the length of time on the course, if you get on past 2pm, you'll never finish. There are fivesomes all over the place and they let everyone walk!!!

After reading the reviews I was expecting a cowpatch but was pleasantly surprised. The tee, fairways and greens were as good as you would find in an LA area muni course. The rough especially around the greens was awful, many waste areas. Played in just over 4 hours. The secret is to go just before 12:00. After 12:00 they have a special, green fees, cart and lunch for $24.00. Before 12:00 the green fees plus cart is $33.50. A lot of people wait until 12:00 to play, between 11:15 and 12:00 nobody left the first tee on the day I played (Monday).

I have nothing really positive to say about Ole Vic. She is in disrepair. The greens are patchy with Poa and thatch. Balls will not roll true but slow. Fairways are bare in spots. Rough is thick when it is there otherwise you hit from rock hard ground. IMHO when i played the course a year back was not worth the money they were asking. Now, it's confirmed. Total waste of money. For the amount they ask you would expect a somewhat decent course but the greens are terrible. Some parts of the fairway are bare and they have been cutting out trees that would add a little challenge to the course.

Course is in surprisingly good shape after the recent heavy rains - usually this course has a lot of problems w/drainage, but the was playing firm. Big problem is still pace of play, w/too many players teeing off from the tips w/out the necessary skill, waiting far too long from 230+ yds to hit to the green, and spending time on the greens as if it were Augusta. Really need some marshals w/real teeth to get this course playing under 5 1/2 hrs.

The pro shop staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be make us feel like they were not doing us a favor like so many golf courses. The sand traps were in great shape with plenty of sand and only a few were not raked properly, but we played at 7 am also. I have heard for so long how they had improved the course I always said was the worse I had ever played. So after 15 years I gave it another try, it has vastly improved over the course I remember, but problems still exist. The greens have a lot of contour, but can be nearly as hard as a rock, plus they started aeriating some greens today. The fairways are thin or bare in spots, but a great improvement over the old "fairways" which were closer to a marsh with very little grass. I will consider playing it again in 6 months or so when I need some change from the usual courses I play.

I never learn my lesson here. The worst customer service immaginable. Paid as a threesome so we were charged for a single rider. As we were teeing off, starter sends someone out to join us and charged him as a 1/2 cart, when I asked Marshall for my 4.00 back, he said I had to go back to the starter. I explained I was teeing off, and whole thing escalated into a huge arguement. The 4th left, and caught up to us with another cart at the first green. This was in addition to getting out 1/2 hour late. Course is not in good shape, tee boxes are dirt, fairways have many bare spots, as well as the "rough". Greens were okay, but an amazing amount of unrepaired ball marks. Made the turn at 3:00 and went in to grab some "quick" lunch. We all ordered items that were already prepared, hot dogs, and cup of chili, and still took 15 minutes to get. We jumped the group in front, because they foolishly ordered something from the grill. This is the closest course to my home, but I play it maybe twice a year due to all the issues everytime I come out.

Course is played played and played some more. If greens are mowed, usually well rolling greens. Front 9 plays 2 strokes easier than back. Back 9 can be a real challenge if the wind is blowing. Links style, with some sort Par 4's and 5's allowing eagles to soar.
Pace of play is slightly longer than normal as starters keep squeezing in people off the wait list even though reserved tee times are already behind.

Not a bad course for what you pay. Tee boxes were good, fairways good with some bare spots here and there, and greens a little bumpy and slow. The round plays slow (5 1/2+ hours) on weekends.

They definitely need more help in the clubhouse. One person to do everything is not enough. They try to squeeze in all the people on the waiting list at the last minute. Expect a late start from your tee time, at least 15-20 minutes. A reminder to the cart girl, it is an 18 hole course, not 9. I saw her 3 times on the front and at the turn. No sign of her on the back at all.

The course is okay. The greens are recovering from aeration. The fairways and tee boxes are thin as usual, no rough to speak of. The problem with this course is the management, or lack of. We had a 1:00 tee time, got there at 12:30, waited in line 15-20 minutes to check in, and they were cramming people off the wait list on to the course. We were not able to tee off until 1:35, and then waited on every shot for the entire round. The carts there are a joke! Half the time I go there my cart runs out before we finish, and everytime I go there I see carts that have died on the course. This time, we had to switch at nine holes because we had a flat. The crappy free lunch and a "free" cart special they have don't make up for the horrible service at this course. I have the same opinion on the other Palmer managed course I have played, Whittier Narrows. I wish this course was not so close to my house!

Victoria is solid municipal course. I remember the days when the fairways were dirt. We used to play the course and allowed ourselves to pick up your ball and place it where you could find some grass. It was that bad.

However, now the course is in pretty decent shape. I played the 18 a few times but mostly play the back 9 on the weekends. The front 9 is solid but the back 9 is more challenging. Some very long holes.

Overall, greens are solid, FWs could use a little work, but worth the price.

Conditions are surprisingly good compared to a couple of months ago. A couple of greens are aerated but the fairways are in a lot better shape. The tee boxes still need a lot of work, lots of sand and even patch of grass to be found. Pace of play was pretty bad!! Overall the conditions are much better than before.

You get what you pay for on this course. $31 for weekday round w/ cart and lunch, but the pace is excruciatingly slow. The backlog on the 1st tee delayed our tee time by 30 min. 5 hours later, we only finished 16 holes. Greens are being aerated and the pock marks are are a centimeter in diameter, but longer putts surprisingly held their line. Putts paced to die in the hole, however, will wobble w/in a foot radius of the hole. I had better luck when I hit short putts firm, as if I wanted it to stop 2 ft past the hole. Fairways and rough play the same. Ball sometimes sits up better in the rough. Fairways are not as thin as it usually is, so the rampant roll on drives is not as great as I've seen in the past. Just be sure to avoid the environmental hazards, where the growth is at least 2 ft high.

Victoria is a decent course to play if you're unsure of your swing or struggling w/ your game b/c the layout is so forgiving, but the painstakingly slow pace of play deters me from coming back. It's like this everytime I come out.

Starting to aerate some greens. 8:30 tee time, started at 9:15. Victoria allows fivesomes to all walk which accounts for long rounds. Took 61/2 hrs to play 18. Marshall got on my case about having a cart along side the par 3 fairway. Never mind that the group in front of us had were playing a hole behind the group in front of them.

OK, I read some reviews and was expecting the worst ( starters, conditions, lenght of play, etc) I dont know if it was that I was going in with low expectations but I came away very impressed. I had a 1pm tee time and we got out there at 12:55, we got free lunch and a bucket of balls and cart for $21 !! excellent value, the course was not the greatest i have seen (layout, conditions) but was no where near as bad as i was lead to believe in some reviews and for $21 I mean c'mon. We were done in about 4 1/2 hrs and had a very enjoyable time. Only glitch we had was that one of our carts died on us on the 7th hole, we saw a marshal and he had one brought to us by the time the last guy in our group teed off on the 8th hole. Now thats service. I have already made plans to visit again. My advise is, dont go in expecting Pebble Beach and you'll be just fine...

i live close to this course so i have tried to play it over the last 2 months, so here is what i think. the starter and the folks in the pro shop don't know what each other is doing. i have seen an empty tee box while i've waited 2 hours to get out as a single , on a weekday. there are plenty of buddys getting the wave out by the starter while folks with tee times get the "we are running late story" with a tee time my friends a i waited for 45 minutes to get out while various groups of friends of the starter hit the tee. all fivesomes, all the time. upside the folks i got paired with have been some of the nicest i have gotten to play with( i think they are used to the mismanagement) the course is always painfully slow(6 hours+ on sundays) play on rainy and windy days and you might enjoy it here.........or not

Ya know, this course isn't in bad shape compared to other (i.e. Encino, Balboa). And, for $31 you get cart, breakfast (standard eggs, sausage, etc), and lunch buffet. Greens as always are firm, but a little shaggy. Fairways were in decent condition with a some bare spots and divots. The rain has helped tremendously.

Good value!

Starter is very confused on how to call players from the walkout list. The course is also in terrible shape. I will not waste my time playing this course again and I'm a member of it's men's golf club!!!!!!

Poor , poor fairways , many bare spots , terrible lies in the fairway - its a shame - it was in very good shape about a year ago.

It rained last night so I knew the courses around la would be wet and slow. We decided to go to victoria? Had a 9:15 am tee time, and for $29 dollars we got a cart, round of golf, bucket of range balls and 2 coupons for some sort of breakfast and lunch? I never like to eat while playing! The course played wet and the tee boxes were very muddy. Greens were in need of 10 other golfers to fix 5 ball marks each and there would have been still to many holes!!!! d%mn it makes me mad when people are too good or to lazy to bend over and fix the ball marks!!!! But i will prob, say this every time i go out? My tan pants were a mess with mud and grass stains, stepped in a mud hole( thanks nike for goretex) in all it was a great day!!! Days like this sunny and light winds make me happy we all live in SoCal. not back east, much snow in new england! Any way CHECK VICTORIA OUT WHEN IT DRYS UP A BIT! $29 FOR 18HOLES AND CART WTIH OTHER GOODIES Hit it and chase it!

Just played and it's worth it just for the greens. The fairways are fine, tee boxes a little shaddy, but overall a great place to play and take aim. Considering the shape of the greens: a 7.5/10 total.

A 6800 yard course that plays shorter due to lots of roll. Unlike most Southern California courses you can play more bump and run type of shots. The front nine is uninteresting, but the back nine is a little better in its layout. The conditions were not to good today. I could see the fairways going back to the time before the renovation. They are very thin with areas of no grass! The tee boxes were just as bad. The greens were good, but you have to make sure there are no ball marks in your line and fix them if there are. My ball was deflected off line twice from old ball marks. Other than that the ball rolls true on these greens. A unique thing about this course is that in between different fairways is bare ground. To play successfully from these areas requires a crisp iron shot. It is hard to lose a golf ball on this course. Environmentally sensitive areas play like hazards with a one stroke penalty.

Played 10/18, 7:00 am tee time and finished in just over four hours. Rudest starter ever!! We were waiting in line for at least 20 minutes, and when we finally got up to the counter, ten minutes before our tee time he had just given it away. When we noted the line, he said it was their "right" to give them away, and made us feel like if we said another word we would not play. Here's a tip, have one line to buy range balls, and one line to check in. Also, what did they spend the millions on rennovating?? Nice greens though.

I AGREE WITH 3-11-44. I WAS IN THE AREA FOR A MEETING LAST MONTH AND PLAYED THIS COW PASTURE. IT IS REALLY A SHAME BECAUSE THE LAYOUT HAS POTENTIAL

Possiblly the worst maintained golf course I have played in the L.A. County system, and I play them all. May have something to do with recent management changes. Don't waste your time or your money.

I played on Sunday, June 1, 2003. When I made the reservation, the starter said the whole course was renovated. Couldn't tell when I got there. There were many fivesomes on the course. Course in shabby shape. Won't venture here again.
