First off on a cooler morning. First round on the North since they completed aeration of the greens. Truth is they actually rolled fairly well all things considered, although much slower than usual. Longer putts were not a big problem, but shorter putts seemed to wobble their way to the cup. Fairways are looking good, fine coverage, nice and green. Tee Boxes and bunkers excellent. Rough could be better, but not too difficult.

If these greens heal as quickly as the South Course greens did a few weeks ago, I suspect within two weeks they should be just fine.

First out as usual on a mild overcast morning. The course right now is really in great condition. The fairways are lush and green, and with the dormant rough, makes for a very nice visual. Greens are pretty quick, but still receptive. Bunkers great is usual. Tee boxes also looking good. Truth is the entire course is as nice as I've seen it for some time. Greens will be aerated beginning 4/18/22, but hoping they recover quickly?

To my surprise and delight, able to avoid frost this morning due to the ever so light drizzle. Very empty, I guess everyone stayed away because of the weather. Course is very nice condition right now.... Continue »

To my surprise and delight, able to avoid frost this morning due to the ever so light drizzle. Very empty, I guess everyone stayed away because of the weather. Course is very nice condition right now. Greens are quick but receptive. Fairways have good coverage and the contrast between the dark green fairway and dormant brown rough is a visual treat. Bunkers as always are great, as are the the tee boxes. Only areas which I feel needs attention is the rough.

As we transition into somewhat warmer weather, hoping the frequent frost delays become a thing of the past. Hope they continue to keep the green speeds up as it makes the course much more interesting to play, when you need to place your shot, if possible, in a position to be able to one/two putt or get it up & down, as appossed too be out of position and having little chance to accomplish that

With all the recent frost delays, it was nice to finally get out early again. Still pretty chilly out there at 7am though. The recent review is spot on, except I found the greens so fast, they were borderline unfair. When you putt to the hole and the ball comes back to a point further than it began, you have to question what's going on? Fairways have good coverage, and the additional sand in the greenside bunkers has helped a great deal.

Looking forward to warmer weather, so maybe conditions will become a bit more tolerable.

The warmish weather and lack of rain during January has created ideal conditions on the North.
The overseeded dark green fairway grass has gotten longer so you don't always have super tight lies and the greens remain firm but receptive to well struck shots. Occasionally you will find areas that have firm muddy lies but they are generally on the edges of fairways. Biggest issue are sand filled divots in fairways. Not sure why no seed is added in the sand bottles but it takes a long time for any grass to regrow. Because of the speed and undulations in the green complexes you don't want to overspin your approach shots but rather let the slopes move the ball towards the hole. Greens are in the best condition I've ever seen running at Augusta like speeds. Unrepaired ball marks remain a problem especially at the front of greens as most players enter from the middle or rear and never go where their ball landed to fix marks. The dormant Bermuda rough is inconsistent but very playable. Tees are level. A little more sand has been added to bunkers making it easier to get out however the raking patterns create deep furrows where the ball tends to sit down so hitting out of deep bunkers is a problem. A new fleet of carts has come in to replace the broken down fleet. GPS, bluetooth speakers, and drink buckets are standard. Highly recommend if you get a chance to be invited here or play in a Monday charity tournament.

First out on a rather mild winter morning. The course has a nice look right now with the sharp contrast between the very green fairways and the dormant rough. The fairways look much better than they play. They are a bit to "tight" for my liking, and still too many really thin spots and bare areas. I realize better players prefer the super tight lies, but they provide a real challenge to me now. Bunkers and tee boxes are very nice. Rough is a bit inconsistent. Greens are very quick but remain receptive. Good combination!

First out this morning as usual on a cool morning, but thankfully no frost today. Carts allowed off the path, which had been the case for the last few days. Perhaps because of these reasons, very empty today?

Course is looking good, with only a few areas having residual casual water, but otherwise no issues. Greens rolled very well, decent speed and very receptive. While the greenside bunkers are very good, I would like to see them rake a bit "deeper" rather than just lightly which provides a great appearance but causes the sand to be really firm and does not allow you to "get through" on longer bunker shots. (Changing the bounce on the wedge helps, but still makes for a real challenge on long bunker shots)

Fairways very solid, as are the tee boxes. Kept it in the fairway (Easy to do when you're as short off the tee as I am now) so didn't have much rough to deal with. Course is a pleasure to play right now, save for the cold weather in the mornings

Play the North this morning from the tips. Aside from the low areas on #1 and #5 having accumulated water on them, the fairways were in perfect condition as the overseed is complete and there are no bad lies. Carts are now allowed back on fairways. Greens were very healthy and are picking up speed, around 11 on stimp. All the tee boxes look great save for the #18 tee box back by the road that hardly anyone plays from. Rough is tough and bunkers continue to be raked properly. Members for the most part are filling all their divots with sand and doing a MUCH better job with ball marks thanks to cart GPS system reminding on each hole. This course will be a beast again this winter and breaking 80 from the back tees will be a rewarding day even if you are a scratch player.

Out early as usual on a beautiful warm morning. To my surprise, not very busy ? The course just re-opened after being closed for three weeks for aeration and over seeding. The course has recovered so much better than did the South course, which still has not totally recovered. Still carts on the path, which I suspect will be the case for a few more weeks.

Rough, tee boxes, bunkers all in nice condition. Course should be in great overall shape within a couple weeks.
