Pros- Everything. This golf course is almost perfect. Some wet sand is about the only downside. Course has character and the layout is gorgeous. I would recommend anyone who wants to leave a course happy, all about their game aside, play Barona.
Cons- None
Overall- I would play here every weekend if it weren't 2:30 hours away

Barona Creek. 9.5 out of 10. It was docked half a point on account of poor shower facilities. Everything else was terrific. Golf course - Wow!

Food afterwards was supplied in Casino. $20 for all you could eat. A couple of plays on the roulette wheel and bingo - profit! All in all a great experience. Cost of Golf $ 64.

Played today. First off, I played terribly. However, it was still a very enjoyable round. Not really much to complain about. Bunkers were inconsistent with some very fluffy and others packed and lacking sand. Other than that, everything was in great shape, which is typical for this course. When I sliced a tee shot into the brush and was unable to find it, one of the groundskeepers later found it and brought it to me. How about that for service!

The greens were hard and fast today. Spend an extra 10 minutes warming up in the short game area if possible before the round. Also remember the ball will roll out more when hitting an approach into elevated greens (this got me twice today). This course is a true test of your skill from tee to green.

Conditions are pretty good. Greens are better than the last time I remember being here. They are the usual firm and fast. Still a little brown looking but everything else was in great shape. For $64 with the barona card I think this is a great value. No one was out here so we just took our old sweet time out here. Finished in about 4 hours 45 minutes but we could have finished a lot sooner than that. Great course, great staff, and great conditions.

Played yesterday as a "twilight" which starts at 11 am here. Like the last review said if you're looking for lush green fairways and greens, you're not going to get that here. But if you can get over that the conditions are very good. Right now the course is very firm and the greens are really fast. Local knowledge is a plus as you don't want to miss the green with a downhill putt. There was a pretty stiff breeze so it definitely makes the course a lot tougher. Played in about 4 1/2 hours. Staff was great as usual.

Played today, 6/19. Great service. Long story short, everything was in great shape. Greens were hard, but well struck shots still held as expected. It's summer, so the course is looking a little brown, but grass isn't brittle and fairways played great. Still my favorite San Diego course.

Played 6/10. A great course. It's kind of "Links like". Fairway's are in good shape. A little dry looking and have good roll out, but play softer then they look. Greens rolled smooth and true at Medium speed. Some down hill putts where very fast. Bunkers good, luckily I did not find many. Native grass areas everywhere that are difficult to get out of ... If you can even find your ball if you hit in them. Wind can blow here often and can make club selection very important. Weekend rate a little over priced, but mid week twilight begins a 11 am at $65. Very friendly staff and good vistas on the course. A good addition to a must play list.

We played Barona Creek on Thursday at twilight rate. The course is in great shape, nearly perfect except for some improvements going on.
The greens were very fast and true, but held shots pretty well. As a result I had several three putts, but made some long ones as well. The greens are definitely the toughest part of the course, since they're large, undulating and very fast.

When the course is in this good a shape, I rate it as one of the best courses in the County. Definitely the best public course for the money.

Also, great staff, practice area, and Alister Mackenzie inspired design.
