Played 1-17 at 10:30. It's a $6 bottle of wine that tastes like a $9 bottle. The greens are very puttable and the track, while flat, has a nice layout, you never get that "didn't I just play this hole" feeling, plus that dang creek can bite you if you're not paying attention. I don't know where they got whatever is in those traps -- it looks like they made a midnight run to IB with a dump truck -- but there's plenty of it. It's a muni, play can be slow. The starters are friendly, if not too polished, but they don't look down their nose and tell you your not dressed well enough to have the opportunity to pull a Franklin out to do 18. A good value in the $ category.

Played10/23/2008 paid $19.00 at 12:15 walking. Good enough for the green fee paid. EZ to get on. Conditions are typical municipal course. Good course to walk. Flat, follows a river up one side and down the other. Greens bumpy but they did roll out a little. Don’t get me wrong they were not really that fast, but they did roll out a bit. The fairways were for the most part OK with some areas very thin, but those areas were for the most part off of the fairways and in the rough locations. The fairways themselves for the most part were OK . Bunkers were soft sand. I think they have been adding sand as I remembered the bunkers being hard dirt type sand. Bunkers were not raked very well either. The tee boxes were OK a little chewed up. All in all if you need a golf fix for a cheep price it’s worth it. Pace of play was 4 hours.

Look Gevo I know a decent course when I play one. Chula Vista has alot of potential but they choose not to do anything w/ it. Overseeded? Nice try. Bonita is in much better shape & they have full on construction going on a few of the holes. Maybe in a couple of months when the "Overseeding" is completed, but for now go to the range & work on your ball striking. The greens can really mess up your puttting stroke.

Played 10/16/07 @ 10:00. Let's just say this is the last review from me for this course. Fairways sucked, greens were slower than molasses (not mention VERY BUMPY), & the tee boxes were thin. Who cares if it cheap golf, I'd rather go to the range & hit off a mat than play here anytime soon. The starter had no idea who was suppose to be on the 1st tee. Get a clue Chula Vista!
