Played today 3-23 afternoon after watching the Kia classic at aviara. Haven't play here for more than 10 years and was excited on coming back. Was little upset with the condition of the course but the layout is fun. Fairways were patchy, bunkers were inconsistent, and tee boxes were uneven. Got out as a single and passed a fivesomes and a foursome to join a twosome. Finish the round in about 3 and half hours with plenty of light to spare.

Let me start by saying that Eagle Crest is one of my favorite courses in San Diego. With that said, I was a little disappointed with the course when I played on 3/22/13. Here are my thoughts: Tee Boxes: Not too impressed. There wasn't much grass on most of them. Fairways: Very thin. There were a few dirt spots on fairways Rough: Was ok. Some areas were very nice and others there was just dirt spots and no grass. Sand Traps: Very very poor. Some sand traps were like cat litter and others were like mud. It was very difficult to hit even a decent sand shot yesterday. Greens: The greens were pretty good. They were firm but the ball would check up fairly well. They rolled true. My only knock on the greens were the pin placements. Some were put on severe slopes and it was impossible to get the ball close for a 2 putt. Overall, I still like this course. The green fees are always great. We paid $35 which is sitll worth it even though my review probably seems very critical.

Played 3/2 11:15 It must be golf season or maybe just the warm weather, because everyone was on a golf course yesterday! Fairway's here are still 99% dormant with small clumps and patches of fescue and other types of green grass. They gave good roll on drives and were "OK" to hit from. Greens were in very good shape and held shots very well. They ran at a medium pace. There is just the beginning signs of the grass starting to grow. Traps still bad to ok. T's mostly good. POP was agonizing. We bailed after 14 holes when we reached the 4.5 hr mark and decided to go drink some wine & eat some wood fired pizza at Cordianos winery instead. A fun course to play but, difficult to get in any kind of grove when you have to wait so long between shots.

Played 1/20 11 am .... 4.5 hrs. The course is in decent winter condition. Fairways mostly brown but played fine. There are many bare or bad spots around but not bad enough to cause a lot of problems. The greens were in pretty good shape. Not their usual great that they normally are but not bad at all. A little bumpy but rolled med/med. Fast. Bunkers their normal crappy hard condition. Cart girl came by twice. Course was not very busy but we were behind a slow foursome behind a slow foursome. But with nobody behind us it gave us time to try some shots over. Still a fun day on a decent course on a beautiful San Diego day. It's hard to beat 70 degrees and sunny in January

Played here twice this week, I recommend playing from the blue tees. It sets the course up for a little more of a challenge & the blue tee boxes are all in great shape. Greens were good, fairways are typical so cal brown during the winter, but decent. great deal!

Played 10/6 Course over all in very good shape. They will be aerating the greens next week. Come out a play a fun course while it's in pretty good shape.

I played here as a twosome on Saturday, September 29th. I had played Eagle Crest a couple years ago in a scramble, remembered enjoying the day, but quite honestly, it was a charity golf tournament so there were probably too many adult beverages consumed and I didn't recall too much about the course.

The first thing that jumped out to me about the course was the quality of the overall condition. The staff has done a great job at Eagle Crest. It has been blazing hot in the area and the course was in really solid shape. I didn't have a bad lie in the fairway all day (I actually hit a few, which is rare), the rough was slightly inconsistent but I never have a problem with that. For some reason I figure if you hit the ball in the "rough" it should be rough pulling off a quality shot. Call me crazy. Finally, the greens were very healthy and rolled true. I'd say they were on the medium speed level, but didn't have any of the "fuzziness" or "furriness" that I've found at other courses in the same price range in the area, and that was nice. Every putt I hit rolled true and they held very well. That's all I can ask.

Finally, I loved the layout. I think the main reason that I didn't remember the course much was that they scramble I played in was from the White tees and we played the Blues. Not only did we play the blues, but they had us stretched back on tee boxes that I didn't even know existed and this course is as tough a driving course as any in the area from back there. I found the layout to be interesting on every hole with good variation through all 18 (doglegs, elevation changes, short and long holes, really solid par 3.s).

We paid $49 a person on Golfnow.com for a 10:24 am tee time on a Saturday and I felt I got a terrific value. Pace of play was about 4 hrs 15 min as a foursome and that rocks. I think they are punching in about two weeks so go play now, I think you'll be happy you did.

Played afternoon 9/23. Course in very good shape. Rough is thick and penalizing. Fairway's are mostly lush with an occasional brown spot and some woolly spots as well. Greens where in very good shape. They were a little bumpy from all the traffic of the day, but still putted well at medium/ fast speed. Traps are horrible like most San Diego courses. Pace of play was very slow at 5 + hrs.

Played at 7 am this morning. Great value at 49 to ride. Greens were above average running at 9. Fairways were in good shape, but very wet. Sand traps were very very wet...unplayable...rough was super thick. Pace of play was 4 hr 15 mins. Good value, but summer conditions bc of heat makes the course below their normal high standards.
