Played Sunday 4/27/2014. Pace of play was a little slow. Waited on almost every shot. Did not bother us as we had a great time that we did not want to end anyway.Now here is a golf course that looks like it hasn't changed in 40 years. When you drive in you see green fairways and very large trees lining the fairways. A clubhouse that looks like it is the original. Has a very friendly and welcoming vibe to it. The staff there is very friendly. The course itself I thought was great. Tees are the only complaint, they have a lot of holes in them and it can be a challenge to find a level spot. Fairways are near perfect and the greens are fast firm and slanted. Not big humps, but tilted. I never had anything close to a straight putt. Absolutely loved it. Most greens protected with deep bunkers with great sand. 1st three hols are flat and then you start climbing up the hill. Lots of side sloping fairways and a few blind tee shots. A great experience that our group was not expecting. Always nice to find the unexpected gems.

It was early morning (7 am, 47$ riding) so pace of play was fast, fairway was a bit soaky but really good, green was pure and receptive.
Distance from from Goleta (1hr drive) is small issue to us but really want to come back soon and find better score.

Could be better to come with some course knowledge, but always fun.

This course is in absolutely fantastic shape right now. The locals we played with said the conditions are almost always this good and that the superintendent does a great job. The greens were very quick with lots of crazy undulation in spots – not to the point of being unfair, but be prepared to play 10 feet of break on a 40-foot putt on certain greens.

The fairways, rough, tee boxes and bunkers were all in good shape. No complaints whatsoever.

My personal feeling is that this course is in dire need of a marketing makeover. Their website gives the impression of a course forgotten in time. For some reason I got the impression it was going to be run down, a victim of the poor economy. I admire them for putting money into the course rather than into marketing, but don't let their homemade-looking website deter you from playing here. This is a subtle gem of an old-style course. It has some nice elevation changes on a few holes and juts up against gorgeous old-California style rolling hills dotted with grazing cows. This is the type of course I could play every day and never get tired of it.

Played here Saturday with Itslikeimsayin as a warm-up round before the Monarch event. We had a 6:50 tee time and it was $47 with a cart, which I think is a great weekend rack price for a course that turned out to be very nice. We were paired with a local twosome, which was helpful because they knew the course backwards and forwards and some local knowledge is definitely advantageous here. We were the 4th group off the tee, but the early morning pace was quick and we were done in under 4 hours.

The course was in excellent condition I thought. I loved the greens, though they are very difficult with some severe side slopes and front/back slopes. Pretty quick and smooth, and very soft/receptive in the morning. The fairways were in great shape. Some thin areas here and there, but mostly excellent. The rough was good and would get a bit spottier the further you strayed from the fairways. Only real concern on this course is the amount of exposed roots from all the trees that line fairways. If you are near the trees, pay careful attention to the ground underneath your ball to avoid injury. Several fairways did have some roots coming up on the edges and that's unfortunate. Bunkers damp and heavy in the morning, but the few I found had good sand.

I didn't know much about this course and it's not one you hear about in the conversation of great Central Coast options, but I loved the layout and the setting and the great conditioning was indeed a bonus. No houses around the course. Some very tight angles from the blue tees and some side-sloping fairways make for some uncomfortable tee shots, but greens are accessible and a good score can be had if you keep it safe. Lots of OB in play outside the tree lines, so be careful. The eucalyptus tree guarding the 16th green is EPIC. Not sure it's a great design feature for playability, but it is really gigantic and very cool as one of the course's signature historic elements. Carts with no roofs were interesting and kind of fun (as long as you don't have a rainy or super hot day where protection would be appreciated).

Played on 8/16. Nice course for the price. Not too hard but challenging. No houses around it. Walkable. Good pace of play just under 4 hours on a weekday. Better than I thought it would be.

The course is struggling in a down economy, but despite the challenges, the condition of the course is consistently excellent. The course is composed of unique holes (no two the same), which I always like. Pace of play is currently excellent as there just isn't that much use. As a senior with a weekday green fee of $23, you just can't beat the value. Course is very walkable and very enjoyable.

Played twilight here last Friday for $23.00. The course is nice as you get some wind, some hills, changes in directions and no houses and only countryside all around. Conditions on the course were good, the greens were fact, yet held incoming shots. Fairways were in good shape. Its really pleasant and a nice way to spend four hours.

On the downside, it appears to be a course that was designed by a farmer that had grown tired of growing plants and decided to build a golf course. He knows the basics of golf course design, 18 holes, greens and some bunkers, but he doesn't understand strategic design, so the course isn't as good as it should be. I did love the tree on 16th which has to be experienced.

Played over the Labor Day Weekend. First off, this is a fairly easy course that is adequately maintained, though there was some areas that had water issues. As with the old post from before, I would not drive up from LA to play this course but if you are in the area and cannot find a tee time in Morrow Bay or the trio of Nipomo courses and MUST play golf then this would course will do fine.

The course: Like I said fairly easy course, some holes have slight to moderate elevation changes and some are flat. Most fairways are generous and tree lined. Some issues with gathering water in a few crucial approach shot areas. The greens were likewise soft early on but firmed up nicely as the round progressed.

Customer Service is lost on this crew. The first marshal we saw wanted us to catch up to the group that had teed off 45:00 prior. We were not holding up groups behind us but he would hear nothing of it and dogged us on holes 6, 7 and 8. We eventually did catch up to those in front and actually had to wait on the last two tees and finished in 4.5 hours (you do the math). Sorry for the rant but these people should know better than to harass golfers during their game.

I will make sure to get that Morrow tee time in earlier as this experience left me with a bad taste.
