This place was a fun track. Played a bit slow but the weather and conditions more then made up for it. Good for the price.

played the 5pm round as its a great deal...
the course is stlll in just great shape and pace of play was fast. I can't get enough of the tough holes on this course. there are so many great holes. and even though theres no water holes but on one, I don't miss it any, theres plenty more ways to get in trouble... Smilin Steve

Cool Times at Aptos Seascape....

just finished another sat round with my son, 5pm start and finished all but 2 holes as we skipped past the 2 foursomes, and got in at 7:45, not bad 16 holes in 2 3/4hrs... we could have waited but hunger took over..lol
once again this course was in great condition with temps about 75 while the valley was 90 plus... so there are still places where you can get in a fast round golf on a great course. you just have to know where to go...
the course is still the same from my last 2 reviews below, see details...............

Fun, Unpretentious Golf near Santa Cruz

I play about once or twice a year at Seascape and I think this is a nice alternative for South Bay and Peninsula golfers. The things that keep me coming back are the interesting course layout and the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. This par 71 course isn’t long (5,800 from the middle tees), but has enough natural challenges and hole variations to keep you interested. I like the back nine, which has three par 5s, a little better than the front --especially holes 10, 13, 15 and 17.

OTHER THINGS TO LIKE:
+ a good variety in the layout of holes—each hole feels new and different from the one before
+ many elevation changes and lots of large pine, eucalyptus and redwood trees make it attractive and interesting
+ a bit hilly, but still quite walkable for more athletic golfers
+ at 430-510 yards, the par 5s can be reached in two by long ball hitters
+ reasonable green fees—check golfnow.com or sign up for the email discounts
+ fairly good conditions for a public course
+ small but friendly proshop and bar

SOME THINGS YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE:
- about an hour from Peninsula and South Bay cities on a white-knuckle drive over windy and crowded Highways 17 and 1
- near the coast, but no views of the ocean and the weather can stay foggy throughout the day
- only water hazard is a small pond near the 13th green
- a couple holes are closely lined by private homes (one person I played with here skulled a wedge shot that ricocheted off a eucalyptus branch and crashed through a bedroom window)
- practice facilities are minimal—a practice putting green and a small, unmarked driving range with mats

Overall, this is a nice local course and an enjoyable place to play. If you don’t mind the drive from the South Bay, it’s worth the occasional trip, especially during the hot summer months.

so for the last month I have been playing here on the weekends after 5pm and the fee with a cart is under 30.00 and wkds is under 25.00. the course is in really great shape and with the hotter weather in San Jose where I work, coming home to light fog or temps in the 70's and playing a round in just over 3hrs is great. the staff there is always top notch while the snack shack and cart girl don't stay that late you can still get stuff from the bar. the bar is huge as they cater to weddings and events there all the time. the pro shop is well stocked and even has really good rental cobras to play if you didn't bring clubs. the course winds in and out of the local houses there and has some big elevation changes so walking is possible but the back 9 is for billy goats...lol the fairways are lined with huge eucalyptus and redwood and pine trees. there's no water on the front and a small pond on the back. thats not to say there aren't enough other hazards out there to get you. its a great course and I'm not sure why it doesn't seem to get more attention as to how good it is. but that's OK with me. there 2 putting areas and a small driving range too. so if the heat is too much to bear in the bay area give this track a chance to show you a good time, Enjoy....

- I got to play here back to back days this weekend. I played after 5 which is 28.00 w/cart. the course was empty and I was able to finish no problem. this track is in and out of houses along most holes. while the fairways are generous if your OB its usually in someones backyard and you shouldn't go looking for it. the course had lots of elevation changes and lined with huge eucalyptus trees. the greens showed some play on them which I expected as I was the last one on the course. the sand traps are great and will test your game. a lot of holes play longer than they seem for some reason, maybe due to the fact that the use valleys and elevated greens to change your view of them. for the twilight rate and Internet specials this is a real bargain. the club house has great food and drinks there's a 2 putting greens and a small driving range too for warming up. if you want to beat the heat in the afternoons this is the place for sure. the course marshall was great too, he stopped and talked with me on many holes and one point I thought we should just play together...lol, a great course on the coast to play if you get a chance.

Tried this course on 8/8 and it is really a fun track to play. It winds through a housing area and if you're coming down the 4th hole, be sure to look in the left & right rough...seems the homeowners along this hole toss any balls that land in their yards back out into the fairway...found a bunch. The greens seemed to be in need of a trim as they appeared to be long and bumpy at times with some ball mark damage, but would roll fairly true to your line. The sand was heavy under the top layer from the morning's wattering and could be tough to get out of. Interesting elevation changes throughout the course and the staff was courteous and helpful.

Fun to play! Relatively short but interesting and challenging.
Some tough par 3's. Lush kikuyu grass fairways and well kept greens that are smooth and very sloped. Great sea breeze
today, cool and comfortable. Would play often if I lived closer.

This is a fairly narrow and short course, but it has some memorable holes. It is very close to the ocean, but there are no ocean views. Some of the trees on this course are gigantic. It is a fairly good value if you keep an eye out for coupons and course-specials. The conditions are above average.
