I played LRGC last Sunday despite swearing to never play there on a weekend again...and I was pleasantly surprised. The round was at a decent pace, the cart girl was around often and the course was in pretty good condition. I think I'll get rid of the "no weekends at Los Robles rule" now.

Played for the first time yesterday. Maybe my expectations were too high from reading all the great reviews or maybe the wind messed with my head but I was a little disappointed. The layout was great and it was pretty well maintained for a public course, but the god-awful smell from the water hazards was overwhelming for half the round. Would have also liked to see a marshal get on the group in front of us for being 1-2 holes behind for most of the round, too. I had enough of a good time to play again but it didn't pass Buenaventura GC or some of the other local courses on my favorites list.

For the sheer number of maintenance personnel, sprinklers and ground under repair we had to negotiate today Cam Springs should look a whole lot better. We started at 9:45 or so and the first 1/2 was so wet you'd think it had rained hard this week. We had a good round, but I have to wonder what is preventing the management from improving conditions at the course.

Still, its close to my house and I've played Cam Springs more than any other course so I'm sure I'll keep going.

Played on Monday 9-15. For a long time I was annoyed with this course and the way it was run but I have to say (during the week anyway) it's growing on me. Great pace of play. Fairways and greens in decent shape. No problem finding a jug of water or the cart girl. Starter was a friendly guy as well as each marshall I saw.

All 18 holes are open now. My only complaint is that the greens weren't all that great, even considering they were just plugged. Other than that this was a fun course. Less water play than the Vinyard course. The back nine had some cool challenges. Pace was quick and the round was fun!

Played last Friday. LR is looking decent these days and pace of play is good during the week, but IMHO there are nicer courses in the same price range . Plus, my foursome couldn't get the cartgirl's attention without setting fire to ourselves. Still won't go near this place on the weekend what with the fivesomes and the regular half hour wait on the par 3 #6. Apologies (again) to the nice foursome in front of us for when I skulled my approach shot and drilled 30 yards past the green right into the next tee box they were about to hit from.

Decided to play a round last minute while on a weekend getaway with the wife. ("Honestly babe, the clubs are ALWAYS in the car! Isn't that convenient??!?") Desert Spring Palms is the more popular course...apparently it's in a little better condition than Valley is...but there was no waiting on this course. Played a round on my OWN in 2 1/2 hours. OK, I started at noon and it was 114 degrees, but still... I loved this course. If you can overlook that some greens had some really bad bare spots it's a really fun layout. I had my best round in months, even including the fact that I was getting heat stroke on the last three holes. Bonus: the cart girl saw my birdie...woohoo!!! (One last tip: stock up on water for the front nine. No fountains or anything although there were plenty on the back nine.)

Nice day, decent conditions, and got to watch the Dallas Cowboys practice from a few tees at the start of the back nine. (I swear I saw Jessica and Tony.) Fairways and greens were about what you would expect for the green fees, but I'm getting more and more impressed with the layout and service. (I saw 3+ marshals keeping the pace of play OK even though we couldn't help laughing at the "lurking" they seemed to be doing at certain points on the course...)

The course is in good condition and well maintained so no real complaint there, however I felt my day would've been better spent if I handed by buddy $80 and asked him to beat me with my pitching wedge. This is not the place to go to have an "off" day. It will make you question why you took up golf. That being said those around me seemed to enjoy it.

Tee'd off ~10:30 today for the first time at this course in a few years and had a good time. Fairways were in really good condition and couldn't complain about the greens, tee boxes or even the sand (despite some wet spots and inconsistency.) Only complaint...and it's not huge...is that the pro shop told us there was a beverage cart on the course so we didn't stock up but never saw one. I'd still recommend this place to anyone...

Played Sterling for the first time yesterday- $25-2:06 tee time via their website. Finished around 7:00. Pace was pretty good until the last five holes or so when a group of four guys playing for each other's mortgages or something held everone up.
I was impressed by this course. For a public course it was in really good condition and the fairways made Camarillo Springs look like a slum IMHO. (I heard the Cam Springs owners bought Sterling Hills a few months back...I hope they don't F it up.) The sand was a little wet probably due to all the watering cuz of the heat but no big deal. Plus, the greens were a little marked up but I've definitely seen worse.
Love the high tech GPS and the friendly staff as well. I'll be back and will probably opt for SH of Cam Springs in the future.

I can't say enough about this course. If you ever get a chance to play it, don't pass it up. It's pricey but there are deals you can find on their newsletter. This place is diverse and fun! (The gorgeous day didn't hurt either.)
