Walked the blues this afternoon twilight with my buddies Nick and Matt under partly sunny skies and the normal 10 to 15mph Ventura afternoon breeze. Pop was 5 hrs behind a busy course. Great times as always with friendly staff, great practice areas, cooler temps and overall solid conditions on a solid course.

Greens were very receptive, very soft and rolling very true. Many undulations to these greens and we had some nice challenging pin locations today. Rating the greens an 8/10

Fairways were mainly lush, nicely cushioned and a pleasure to play from. Rated 8/10

Tees were very lush, level and in very good shape. Rated 8.5/10

Not in any bunkers but they looked to be all raked with their usual nice beach sand base to them.

Rough just off the fairways was green, uniform and lush. Great shape. Just outside of the cart paths thick vegetation. Rated 8.5/10.

Highly recommend this track.

Rode the blues this morning 7/17/23 as a part of the Golfmoose/GK event joined by Todd, Mark and Kevin. We enjoyed a relaxed pace of play with some minor waiting from the group in front, i think we finished in like 4 hrs 40 minutes. It was 102 degrees today with a 12-15mph breeze. Our cart had some issues engaging on the back nine. No GPS on the carts. No beverage cart today but snack bar was open and there were water stations on the course. Nice big driving range on mats and very nice putting green. If I lived up this way I would probably do a membership here as I just love the layout. Playing partner stated that many of the holes here resemble some of Riveria CC.

2nd time on this layout, last time was two years ago. Some of the sight lines are clearer on the front as they have lost some trees. Very strategic course from the blacks or blues as they have many fairway bunkers in the 250 to 280 range that come into play sometimes placed right in the middle of the fairway. Very well designed course. Most holes other than number 2 bend to the right. Parkland style course that is tree-lined but would not say target. Couple par 4s on the front have water features to avoid off the tee. 3 of the 4 par 3s have water to avoid either short or to the right. Beautiful par 3s here!! Lots of history here with Billy Mayfair beating Tiger Woods in a playoff in 1998 at the Nissan Open.

Greens ran smooth and were very soft on high Irons approaches. Greens varied in size and depth depending on the hole. For instance the 1st green is very narrow from left to right. All green complexes had major potato chip swales that can be challenging to read. Overall rating the greens an 8/10.

Most fairway lies were lush. Some fairway/chipping portions closer to the greens/fringe were tighter and hole punched in some areas. Overall fairway turf rating 7.5/10.

Tees were level, lush and firm. Rated 7.5/10

Was not in any greenside bunkers but was in a few fairway bunkers which had just the right amount of sand in them. Rated 8/10.

Rough was around 2 inches mainly uniform and just off the fairways easy to play from. Rated 7.5/10.

If you have the chance don't pass this course up.

Rode the gold tees this morning with buddies John, Ron and Mark as a part of the gk/golfmoose event teeing off just after 11am on a 12-15mph swirling wind day which is pretty typical for this area. Just a beautiful day for golf with a high around 80 degrees. My 3rd time playing here and the conditions were even better this time around.

Practice facilities include a seperate chipping area above the 18th green, two very nicely manicured putting greens and a nice sized range on soft artificial mats. All staff encountered were friendly. No GPS on the carts but they were very comfortable.

The course plays around homes on some holes that are not in play and a natural wash. Plenty of greenside bunkers, red penalty areas and nicely sloped firm greens to warrant a great challenging private course. Former lpga and senior tour stops.

Fairways were in very nice shape, mainly lush and green with your ball sitting up nicely. Rated 8/10

Tees mainly level and lush and in good shape. Rated 7.5/10

Not in any bunkers but they looked well raked and maintained

Greens were very soft on approach, quicker on chips and maybe rolling a 10.5 on putts. Very true rolls. Very tricky reads as there is more break around the hole than you think. Rated 8.5/10

Rough was lush, thick and juicy. Really in great shape. Rated 8.5/10.

I would consider a membership here and recommend a chance to jump on it if you get an opportunity to play it.

Rode the blues this morning with my buddy Mark joined by 2 nice singles. Pop was 4 hrs 40 minutes on a packed course. We had a 1.5 club swirling wind for most of the day under sunny skies with temps in the low 70s.

Rustic just finished their range renovations and the turf on the range your hitting into looks tour quality. They did a beautiful job. New target flags and they had players hitting off grass. Chipping green grass super lush and putting green as usual in great shape.

The winter rains have made everything so lush and green. Great fairway conditions 8/10.

Greens recently received maintenance almost 4 weeks ago according to an employee and they are very healthy, shining with little to no ball mark damage. Uphillers are slower than normal but downhillers can still get away from you. Rated 8/10

Greenside rough 9/10 very thick and lush

Fairway rough is decent in the 7/10 range just off the fairways

Not in any bunkers today.

Tees were level, lush and in great shape 8/10

Everything from the challenge to great conditions and layout are all the reason this gets recognized by golf magazine and others as a must play. Always recommending it to everyone I know.

Walked the Orange tees this afternoon 6/12/23 with my buddy Matt joined by two brothers. Our pop was 4 hrs 10 minutes as the group in front of us quit after 9 holes and we flew around the back nine when they left. Weather was damp with no wind and around 62 degrees. Very friendly pro shop staff, range on mats, big putting green with seperate bunker/chipping area.

You know when the driving range is lusher than most courses Fairways your in for great conditions.

Fairways were a 9 out of 10 best conditions in the Fairways I have seen in VC County this year. Padded, lush lies wall to wall green.

Tees very lush, level and in great shape. They re-sodded 4 tee which looks great. 9/10

Greens were soft from overnight light rains holding shots very nicely. Some of the back nine greens felt firmer like hole 10. Rated 8/10

Rough along the Fairways 2 to 3 inches lush and in good shape. Rated 8/10

Was not in any bunkers but the bunkers here look beautiful, raked with ample beach sand.

Now is the time to play Soule. Highly recommended.

Walked the golds Tuesday 5/30/23 with my buddy Mark teeing off just before 2:30pm under cold and windy conditions with a beautiful 4 hr pace of play playing through a foursome on 3 tee.

Not much has changed from my review here a month ago other than the fairways are in even nicer shape now than they were a month ago. Not putting to much stock into the greens today as they had a very minor punch and were top sanded so they were slower than the normal 11.5 stimp, easier to hold shots on today.

The tees, fairways and rough are all close to the 9 out of 10 category and the greens in a week or so will be there as well. Was in one greenside bunker on 10 that had brownish clay like sand that was a pleasure to hit from.

We had a great round despite the weather. 6700 in the cold wind with no roll felt more like 6900 yds.

The conditions right now are off the hook nice. One of the best post round views at sunset on the patio with a natural grass greenside amphitheater of tee shots on the par 3 18th hole. Very friendly staff in the proshop. Feel real lucky to have this course only an hour away.

Late on this review. Walked the blues early this week joining 2 nice singles under cold conditions with a 1 to 2 club afternoon wind. My first time here since September. What a beautiful looking golf course right now! Flowers are blooming and waste areas outside of the cart paths have knee to waist high plants and beautiful flowers. The lakes are full of water between 11/12 and 13/16 which looks awesome. This is the way the course first looked when it opened with tall waste areas and the lakes filled. The pouring rain the last several months has made this place off the hook beautiful. Our POP was only 4 hrs as we caught a nice break in the tee sheet. Awesome staff and practice areas.

The greens rolled very nicely and were firmer than usual but still holding irons like darts. Rated 7.5/10.

Fairways were damp and gave no roll. Mostly all lush beautiful fairways with just a couple spots of muddy GUR spots. Rated 8/10.

Tees level, lush and in great shape. Rated 8.5/10

Was in greenside bunkers on 3,5,16 and 18 that were in very good shape raked with ample sand. Rated 8/10

Rough just off the fairways inside the cart paths in great shape maybe 2 inches and lush. Outside of the cart paths you are gone. Rated 9/10

Just can't wait for summer rounds out here in the next 3 months. Highly recommended!

Played The Oaks at Valencia CC Private for the 2nd time this morning 5/15/23 as a part of the GK/Golfmoose shotgun outing at 10am under warm conditions around 90 for a high and a nice one club breeze that kept things a tad more bearable. Pop was 5 hrs which was OK in regards to the huge shotgun today. Paired with buddies John, Ron and Mark and we had a great time on this Omeara layout!

Range on turf[big range]. Putting green in great shape and they have a seperate chipping green/bunker area. All staff encountered very friendly. Did not eat there but very cool cart gal that looped around the course several times. Did notice that there were no water jugs on the course so byo and good thing there was a drink cart today.

Greens were firm rolling beautifully and would say semi receptive. They putted around a 10.5 on the stimp. Different size greens depending on the hole but they do have some massive size ones and some skinnier ones like hole 14. Rated 8.5/10

Fairways were in great shape bordering between a 8.5/9 out of 10 and they were thick with no roll. Most drives I hit today that were high and long got 1 yd of roll. Rated 9/10. The rain has really made these lush!

Tees mainly level and lush and in good shape. I believe they have 5 different sets of tees here. Rated 8.5/10.

Was in one fairway bunker that was perfectly raked and compact.

Rough was very lush up to 3 inches and a club grabber. Rated 8.5/10.

Layout has native areas usually lining both sides of every hole. I love the back nine here. My favorite hole is number 10 a sweeping elevated dogleg left framed by mature oak trees. Other than hole 3 which is quirky and hole 14 which is quirky I enjoy the layout!

Walked the blues on my home course with my buddy Matt this afternoon 5/1/2023 joined by a grandson 22 years old and his grandpa at 89 years young!! Impressive to see the grandpa who only played 9 holes hit some good running drives and some nice putts..inspiring. We had about a one club breeze most of the round and had a nice POP around 4 hrs 5 minutes.

They are doing major construction currently on the range and have temporary nets up. Such friendly staff in the proshop and they do have a nice chipping area and putting green to practice on.

Rustic is in great shape!

The fairways from all the rain we have had are very lush, green and in great shape! Very nice lies. Rated 8/10

Greens are smooth, medium paced and holding irons very nicely. I feel at current time they might be putting slower than normal uphill but you still need precision putting and chipping sidehill and downhill. Rated 8/10.

Tees lush, level and in good shape. Rated 8/10.

Was not in any bunkers.

Rough just off the fairways has improved some from my last round here and is thicker than it normally is. Rated 7/10. Greenside rough is always in amazing shape. 9/10.

So lucky to have this course so close. Highly recommended.

Walked the golds at Piper one of my favorite tracks Monday afternoon 4/24/23 joined by my buddy Mark teeing off at 2pm finishing in 4 hrs 20 minutes under partly cloudy skies with the temp around 62 degrees. We flew around as a twosome for the first 9 holes and then caught a mini tournament on the 10th tee that played at a decent pace on the back nine.

All staff encountered were super friendly including Vern in the proshop. All grass range is a plus. Very sloped beautiful putting green that you can pitch on and a great patio/restaurant overlooking the Pacific.

The conditions here at this time are in good to very good condition.

The greens are quick, putting true and in great shape. Like most courses but especially here you must be putting or chipping below the pins. Anything downhill here takes great touch to get close. I thought the greens held shots well which is a perfect combination. Rated 8.5/10 maybe closer to 9/10.

Fairways were mostly all lush, carpet 9/10 range. Great shape.

They had the mowers cutting some of the rough down just barely off the fairways. Anything past the 1st cut of rough/cart paths has up to waist high rough and really puts some teeth into this course. While some might not like it I love it not only visually but makes the course even tougher. Rough rating 9/10

Was in greenside bunker on 11 that had just enough sand and was raked to a firmer base on top. Rated 7/10

The tees were lush but several of them could use some leveling. Not to hard though to move a couple feet over and find a level stance. Rated 7/10

This course to me has it all. Some elevation changes, fast challenging greens, unbelievable views, great layout.

Highly recommended.

Walked the Orange Tees Monday 4/17/23 teeing off around 12:45pm joined by my buddy Matt and a nice single that joined us from Marina Del Rey. Weather was in the low 60s and about a club breeze so pretty much almost perfect weather. Pop was 4 hrs 40 minutes which was relaxed with the amount of people on the course.

Wanted to give a few updates on the course before I get into the conditions as I have played here a couple times since the big rains. The regular routing of tbe course is back to normal and they have made almost finishing touches on the bridge walking from 10 green to 11 tee and 16 tee to 16 green. 16 par 3 is now playing its regular length. Only change at this time is they are still working on the area just in front of 15 green. So this great hole is now playing as a short 300 yd par 4 with a temporary green in the middle of the fairway. The water running through the creek around the property is majestic right now and gives Soule even more ambiance. My buddy and I ate on their patio resturant Zadies overlooking this beautiful property. They have great burgers and some good beers on tap.

Course is in really good condition with the greens running a little slower than normal at this time. They are very soft and still putt pure. Big surfaces where good lag putting is important. Would rate them a 7.5/10.

The fairways are in very good shape. Mostly lush and very green for early spring. The next few months the fairways should be in their best shape. Rated 8/10

Tees all level and lush and in good shape. Even the par 3 Tees were mostly filled in nicely. Rated 8/10.

Was in greenside bunker on hole 8 that had great sand in it easy to splash out of. The bunkers here can be deep with big lips and must be avoided. Rated 8.5/10.

Rough was mowed down just off the fairways and in decent to good shape. Rated 7.5/10.

Great prices, great walk, very fun layout, great conditions, friendly staff, good food....highly recommended

Rode the blues with buddies Mark, Ron and John this morning 4/10/23 as part of the Golfmoose/Gk event. We were never pushed and took our time as to not run up on the group ahead of us. Foggy morning with a tee off around 9:20am turned into a perfect weather day for golf with the high reaching 70 degrees and maybe a club of wind on the latter back nine holes.

My 4th time playing here and if you get a chance jump on the opportunity. Curent LPGA tour stop and a host of former US OPEN qualifiers. This course has a mix of doglegs, trees, ob, water and beautiful strategic fairway and greenside bunkering. Some slight elevation changes but this parkland style course has most things right in front of you.

Greens are in great shape, firm, true and holding irons nicely. Don't want to be putting or chipping downhill. Noticed today that a player might see more break than there actually is on some putts. Rating the greens a 9/10.

Fairways were mainly lush, cut tighter with a nice amount of roll out. Fairways run from some tight shots on the first couple holes to some larger landing areas as the round progresses. Rated 8/10

Tees were very firm, lush and level. Good shape rated 8.5/10

Rough just directly off the fairways was beautiful, lush and in great shape. Mostly anything outside of the cart paths was super lush and gone. Rated 8.5/10.

Was not in any bunkers but tested one out for practice and it was nice firmer base raked on top with just enough sand underneath.

Our group had a blast with I believe 8 birdies as a group. Very challenging course where if you are hitting it well in play and can putt these challenging Greens a score can be had. I can also see BIG numbers here as well.

Highly recommended!!
