Babe looks like Rihanna after Chris Brown worked her over - beat up. The fairways have lots of unfilled divots AND/OR numerous bare spots. Maintenance has been putting lots of water on it hoping that may be the solution. As a result, you'll frequently have clumps of mud on your ball. It hasn't been hot enough to blame the weather for the course condition. The course reflects the fact that with lower greens fees for the month of August, it'll attract all the golfers who have no respect for the it, i.e., they don't fill divots, don't fix ball marks on the greens, etc. Babe is tough enough without being in mediocre shape. They have the new GPS a la Eagle Glen. Carts are "managed" to shut down if you drive them where you shouldn't (a good thing) and to slow down on grades (whether you need to or not). Still like Ike better, but Babe will assuredly test your mettle.

Every time I play this course, it seems as if it is under new management. That being said, the course itself is in very good shape. It's grown out a bit and could use a little cutting in places, but overall the fairways were nice. They were wet in places. The tee boxes were level and grown out a little, too. Only a couple of tee boxes had unlevel spots, and they were par 3's. A lot of the sand traps had recently been filled with new sand, and it was deep. Others were awaiting their fill of sand. The pro shop was bare bones basic - not like the old days. The green fee structure is screwed up. There is a big sign with "Summer Rates", but above these rates (which are reasonable) they list the "rack" rates which are there for one reason only - to preclude anyone from trying to use a discount card or book based on a percentage of the "rack" rate. This is BS at it's worst! It is NOT a $78 course on a weekday - no way, no how!!!!!!!!!! Senior rate was $42 - reasonable, but should be about $35 like Empire Lakes or Los Serranos. Overall, a good experience.

Course was in pretty good shape although some spots in the fairways were thin.
Pace of play was pretty constant (not slow like others complain). It was a Monday late morning, so you wouldn't expect it to be slow.
They started us on the back nine, their rationale being that switching the nines would speed up play. I'm not sure of the logic of the switch, but the pace was good.
Now if only everyone would rake the traps and fix 3 or 4 ball marks while they're standing around waiting to putt.....It is tough to find some of the ball marks in the Poa, but there are plenty to be fixed if you look (most of them fresh - or maybe a day old).

Let me preface this review by saying that I played La Costa on Sunday the 23rd.
OK, so I played Eagle Glenn on Monday the 24th. Compared to $$$ La Costa it was in way better shape! Kudos to the greenskeepers for the upkeep. I was NOT in any of the , so called, "concrete bunkers" mentioned in previous reviews. All bunkers I was in were tilled soft on top (at least 3/4" sand - possibly more. There were some brown spots on the course, but only in color. There was always grass in the fairways, and it was pretty lush. The GM mentioned they are reducing watering in preparation for scalping and overseeding in September. The greens were great, give or take a few ballmarks that lazy golfers don't repair. Overall, the course was in excellent shape for August. Nicely manicured.
Here's a bonus: Mention Grenskeeper.org and your greensfee is $29!!!!!!!!!! (M-Th).
But don't drink in their bar unless you like paying $6 for beer on tap. They try to recoup any $$ you save on greens fees by ripping you off at the bar. Tell them you'll go down the street to TGIFridays (acrosss from Dos Lagos) and enjoy a nice Happy Hour at 1/2 the cost!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know where spaul100 played, but I played Westridge today, Dec 1st, and while the fairways were overseeded, and there were many thin areas in the fairways (and wet areas), I defy anyone to find a punchhole on the greens (which were about 8 on the stimp). The course overall was in decent, playable shape. It should fill in in about 2 weeks - as a guesstimate. It's a fun layout, and the price is right. Plays a little slow.

Course is in geat shape having been overseeded and punched a couple of weeks ago. Pace was good, greens were smooth, but already seeing indications of "people" too lazy to fix any ball marks. If everyone would just fix a few while standing around waiting for their turn to putt, the greens would be great all the time. The "people" who don't fix any (or don't know how to properly fix one) are always the ones who are the first to complain. Ironic, isn't it? Nice test from the blues.

Course in great shape, per usual. The greens were very slow and, since they're poa annua (sp?), it's hard to find your ball mark to repair. So, while you're standing around waiting for your turn to putt, look around and fix 4 or 5 other marks. If you don't, then don't b$tch about ball marks next time you play. Also, the cups had not been changed in a couple of days and were rounded on the rims. Makes for lots of lip-outs.

As lush and in as good condition as I've ever seen this course. The only shortcoming is the driving range and allegedly a new one is forthcoming. There are a couple of holes where a blind tee shot can "bite" you, but overall as nicely conditioned a course as there is in the area.

Many CC's would aspire to be in this shape. Course is pristine. Gets a little tight in spots; but, overall a good test of your game. As a senior, the price is definitely right; and, if you play on Monday or Tuesday, they also give you free lunch with your greens fee! High handicappers neeed to bring extra balls - you WILL lose some!

Worth the $$ if you play on one of the numerous discount rates. Course is in beautiful shape and well - manicured. Very few ball marks on the greens, probably because you really have to hunt to find yours. While you're looking, and DO look, fix others that you find instead of b$tch ing about the greens next time you play.

Course is in great shape. They aerate 2 greens per week so that the course remains playable through the process.

Goose Creek is in as good or better shape than ANY public course around the area! Everywhere you look is lush green. Staff is friendly and the price is right. Not the hardest course to play, but it will test you - especially from the blues.
