Played on Friday, September 5, 2008 with kilt1iron and Moneysworth. What this course lacks in high-end maintenance and length, is offset by its character and friendly staff and regulars. Picture a shorter length Hansen Dam GC (a few short miles away). Low rates ($19.50 to walk on Friday morning) and a great pace of play on a course that lets you hit everything in your bag at least once will keep you coming back if you live nearby. Water comes into play on 2, 6, and 16; and, if you're not careful, 4 and 5 could see shots getting wet. 11 is a cute little drop shot to a green you can hardly see from the blues. 12 has a forced carry on the 2nd shot. Easy to walk course with the only appreciable elevation changes from 11 to 13. Greens have plenty of ridges and tiers. The occasional hang glider from the nearby hills may also get your attention.

Played 6/26 in hot weather. This is a compact par 62. This is an excellent training course with many hazards to keep you on your toes...water, trees, cliffs, and the constant sound of "FORE!" This course is well maintained and the staff is great. Be patient as there are many high handicappers enjoying a real course instead of the range. Also, several consecutive Par 3's require waiting for the green to clear. Would only suggest that players recognize their current abilities and hit from the "whites". I'll be back as this is an interesting set-up compared to the par 72 munis that just go back & forth.

Played Sunday 6/8 Exec course, not very tough.. Greens, fairways, rough, sandtraps and teeboxes in good shape.. Nice place to work on your irons, good customer service and a 3hr 15 minute round..

Played early today. Nice course overall. Teeboxes were okay. Some bare and uneven spots. Fairways were in good condition. Roughs were very forgiving. Traps were okay, little hard. Greens were in good condition, Alittle long, killing putts. some pinplacements were challenging. Pace of play was good. Finished in 3 hours. Though it isn't a par 72, it's a challenging and enjoyable course to play from time to time

Played 2/12 at mid-day under perfect conditions. First time I've played El Cariso. This is a good track for practice and beginners learning their short game and course management. My playing partner is a beginner and can be slow. (I'm working on this!) Still, no excuse for the younger threesome behind us to hit into us. We let them play through; but very distracting. I'd play this course again...can't beat the price!

I tend to agree with many as far as the condition of the course. While not as horrible as some have described, its not pristine either. Muddy areas on the fairways, and the tee boxes do tend to be unlevel. There've been improvements to the greens, and overall this course is great for those learning to play. Challenging enough but not too much so. Long enough par 4's to get good experience. Inexpensive fee's and the ability to walk on midday's are a plus. If you want a quick game of golf, this is a good course to play.

I love this executive course for beginers and it is cheap, has lots of challenging holes but nothing to hard. Most holes are relatively short, the longest hole is just under 400. A great course if you only have 3 hours.

El Cariso is tougher than I thought it would be. Besides there being and Ninesome playing infrount of us, the course had good turns and there was a lot of room for error for ths rookie. Good course for my Second full 18.

A very good course for the beginner. No extremely challenging holes, but holes 10-12 require patience

Played 3/31 with barkinesq and two others, and needless to say, I'm not as generous.

Overall, course was in pitiful shape.

Greens: Like putting on my garage floor. Forget about any ball sticking. On one par 3, I hit an iron into the green, and when I went to repair a ball mark, there wasn't one. The greens were that hard. Putting was even more difficult. Two puts on the same exact line moved completely different. Some greens broke towards the water, some broke away, some didnt break at all. And forget about judging speed. I'm all for challenging greens, but this was ridiculous.

Fairway: Slightly better than the greens. Many bare spots, balls rolled forever. Un-filled divots.

Rough: Nonexistant most of the time, very un-manicured the rest. Again many bare spots and unfilled divots.

Traps: Only consistant part of the course. Traps played true most of the time.

Tee Boxes: Abysmal. I'd say about 13 or 14 were pretty unlevel. One tee-box had NO grass. Teeing off was an adventure.

Yeah, I had a good time. I very rarely have a bad time playing golf. Played with some funny people who kept things lively. But this course should not be in such poor condition this time of year. For all the flack American Golf gets, they do a pretty decent job keeping up their courses. EC is not an AG course and the management company completely neglects it. It COULD be a pretty fun course to practice on and have fun, but it's kept up horribley.

Positives? Yeah, it was only $34 with cart on a saturday morning.

Don't bother with this course unless the conditions improve. And even than, their are much better courses for a fraction more money close by.

Played El Cariso on Saturday 3/21/07. Course was in average condition (being charitable). Tee boxes not very level, fairways had a lot of bare spots, greens very hard and some bare spots.

I would not normally play this course, but a friend had a couple of spots open in his foursome. It has 10 par 3 holes with 8 par 4 holes. I had a good time because of the company I was with.

I would go back is a friend invited me, but I would not choose the course. If I am going play an executive course I would choose Westlake.

While this is not a "regulation" length gof course, the actual holes are all legit. A number of decent holes on this track. The biggest complaint I have is many of the players here appear to be high high handicap players, but that's ok. This is where they belong, better to learn here than at the busy LA tracks or the high end Orange county layouts. A pleasant day on a decent course.

I went on a Thursday mid afternoon and it was pretty much open. It is longer and the greens are trickier than the typical executive course. Course seemed in good shape. Overall, a fun track for a relative newbie like myself.

Nice and busy course. An easy round with some intriguing holes, but watch out for slow play and often hackers galore. Worth the inexpensive greens fee and definately a walking course.
