practice greens are nice, 18 greens are aerated. Supposely they aerated 2 weeks to a month ago. Give it about a month to recover.

Played here on 9/10, and the conditions were okay. The greens were bald in some spots. The tee boxes were in good condition. The pace of play was super slow, maybe because there was a junior tournament right before we tee'd off. The fairways were okay, not the best I've seen it.

the course is long ,7033 from the back tees, most fairways are open from the tee box, but will cost ya if ya miss left or right , rough is just that ,ruff. I played late in the day, greens were little slow but firm, and held most approch shots . over all, course is green , clean, and challanging for the avg. duffer. nice pro shop, good driving range( mats /grass)

Played today 7/26, I've been playing this course for close to five years now and have never seen it in this bad of shape. The fairways were covered in dry dirt patches. The rough was half wet and juicy and half dirt. They need to water the course differently because only half of the course is getting the right amount of water. The greens were average lakewood with plenty of ballmarks. It also took over 6 hours to play which is ridiculous. Wont be back for a while.

We played here on the fourth of July. We had an early morning tee time. We ended up teeing off about 40 minutes past our tee time. The first three or four holes played a little slow but picked up after that. It took us about 5 hours to play 18 (not counting the delay).

The greens were in pretty good shape. The fairways were in pretty good condition although there were areas where it was very mushy from overwatering. In addition parts of the fairways were thin and bare in spots. I ended up in a lot of bunkers here. The sand was very thin and hard. It was very difficult to get out from the bunkers.

The carts have GPS but you are paying extra for it. Cart fee was $26 for two but I didn't know that after the third or fourth hole you can stop using the GPS (you can deny using GPS from GPS screen) to get $1/per person back at the shop. The driving range is very small (not too many hitting stations).

This course is very challenging. I noticed the fairways were very wide on the back nine. Course is ok to play every once in a while but be prepared to bring your waiting game.

Played 06/21 Sat. This was our first time playing at Lakewood. Our first impression... as we walk in to check in with the starter. Without any apologies, told us that there will be one hour delay. Basically, take it or leave it. Bad first impression. We had our breakfast and the services were pretty bad. Tee off hour late and the pace was very slow. Waited on almost every holes. Had four groups waiting on a par 3 hole. No marshalls? Course layout is alright. I would have enjoy the course if the pace were little faster. Very noisy on few holes due to some kind of airline facilities. Bunkers are no good. They were very thin and hard. I was expecting nice and soft since the course is located closer to the beach :-p Took us almost six hours to finish the round. I would not go back for long time... will take this course out from my faviorte courses.

this course is very slowwwwwww. Played the front nine in 3 1/2 hours. waiting on every shot. Maybe that is why i shot 44. Back nine played in 2 1/2 hours. After number 12 did not have to wait to hit each shot. Maybe that is why i shot a 34. Will play again but only on the weekday morning, with no tournaments.
overall the course was in good shape. The greens were medium instead of very slow. Hopefully the pace will pick up, but only if they stop allowing 5 somes d%mn American Golf.

It had been a while since I played Lakewood.
The good: Got on right away with two other singles who were about the same handicap as me, length of the course was great, the fairways had grass, rough was good, the greens were the usual lakewood slow.
The bad: Grroups ahead of us were very slow. Three sets of 5 somes who were playing real slow. We waited on every shot for this one golfer who took literally 5 minutes for every shot. His partners even told him to hurry up, but he kept on doing the same slow routine. This guy had no business playing from the blue tee when he could not even get his drives over 200 yards. This really bothers me, if you are on a par four that is 423 yards and you hit a 150 yard drive, why do you wait until the group is off the green to hit your second shot? Is your driver the lay up club?
An enjoyable round.

Greens:
Bumpy and slow. (Please repair your divot marks)

Fairway:
Some patches of brown but generally OK for lakewood.

Pace:
Brutal!!!!! Really slow. Took me 3 1/2 hours to play the front 9.

Overall Grade: D
If I didn't live so close, I would never play this course.

The greens have almost completely recovered from the recent aeration but were bumpy. The fairways are a little yellow and they, as well, have been aerated. The sand in numerous bunkers I was in today was in good condition except for the front bunker on 13...very wet. Pace of play was good but we were 3rd off.

It's Memorial Day and the course is packed but for $43 it's a bargain. Plus they have new carts... I love the automatic parking brake. Anyway, the course is in very good condition and I like the layout of this course. It was a slow day, the tee times were running 35 minutes behind and what seemed to be to many fivesomes... I think that fivesomes should always be required to ride. Two groups ahead of us was a fivesome that was walking... they were almost 2 holes behind... and I never seen a marshall all day. It happens... will it keep me away from this course? No, I just like this course and will put up with the minor irritations... that's weekend golf!

Played here on 5/19 and it was very disappointing. The pace of play for a wide open golf course is terrible. You have to wait on so many shots, I found out later it is run by American Golf and they always want 5-somes to maximize income and this always creates slower play. The greens were okay, but very slow and some were still healing from being punched. The traps were not in great condition and so many traps were unraked. I never saw a marshal to handle the slow play problem. The fairways are very hard, so if you want long drives---this is the course for you-----except for the last 4 fairways that day as they had been punched, but they had not picked up the "dirt holes---pellets". I do not plan on coming back anytime soon.

Wow! Please understand that this is Lakewood I'm talking about! The course is in the best condition I have ever seen it since I've lived in California (1970) While it is not "country club" condition, for Lakewood, it was most impressive. Normally this place is rather shabby, but not today. Downside - 5+ hour round. Nice to see the effort!

Played 2/18 Monday-President's day holiday. One of the long muni course. Green condition good. Fairway condition hard as concrete - always this time of the year. Not many doglegs, pretty much straight but many bunkers awaits you. They must have put new sands in all the bunkers - they were very soft. Pro Shop staff - Good customer service .

Played Sat. 1/26, course was very wet but it didn't rain while playing. Walked on with the 9th group to start the day, round took about 4 1/2 hours. Greens still in good shape, soft and medium/slow because of the rain. Fairways were typical for this time of year and rough was low. The sand was hard to judge it was hard a the bottom but softer on the slopes (were the rain puddled it was the hardest). Always worth the greens fee if you can somehow get on.

I played here on 1/3. The fairways were a little sparse but not bad. Greens were great as usual, rolling true with very little ball marks. The couple of bunkers I was in had good sand...a tiny bit fluffy. Pace of play was average. Saw the marshall twice. Hot dog was tasty.

Played on the 22nd, Thanksgiving Day, and the course was in great condition. Our tee time was delayed about 15 minutes, but other than that, I am satisfied w/ Lakewood CC. The greens rolled smooth, the fairways were nice, rough was at a good height, and the sandtraps were well maintained. One other thing, the pace of play was average, not super slow like usual.

I played twilight Sunday. Everything is in good shape except the tee boxes. They have cut a lot of them down to almost bare dirt. I'm sure they are going to overseed or re-sod, but they are pretty rough right now.

Played Saturday afternoon, 9/22, in a tournament. The only real positive about this course was that the greens were receptive and rolled well, even though several had been recently aerated. Some heavy showers the night before had left many areas of the course pretty sloppy, a sprinkler valve was leaking a small creek onto the 10th tee, and a large lake had formed on the 13th fairway, but we didn’t see a course employee all day, or any evidence that they were working to fix those problems or move along the 5.5-hour pace of ‘play’. You’ve got to get off the tee well here to be able to score. Pretty good greens, unremarkable other conditions, brutal pace, indifferent staff. Typical LA County muni.

PLAYED TODAY ON SEPTEMBER 20, JUST OVER 4 HOURS. NOT VERY CROWDED TODAY. COURSE IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE. NOT SUPPOSE TO BE AERATING UNTIL OCTOBER 1, BUT THEY DID HOLES #2 AND #3. THE BAD THING IS THEY DID NOT LET ANYBODY KNOW THIS WAS TAKING PLACE TODAY. IT WOULD BE NICE IF THEY DID NOT LET FIVESOMES BECAUSE THIS COURSE HAS NOTORIOUSLY SLOW PLAY. BUT IS ONE OF THE BEST VALLUES IN GOLF!

Lakewood CC: flat with some water holes (water level is low and will probably get worse with this drought), always in decent condition. Currently, some greens are beat up (no. 3 especially) but it'll come back with a little TLC. Great value, and the back nine is a nice layout. Slow pace, with 5-somes. No frills muni golf ... definately worth an occasional visit.

It's sad that a 5 1/2 hour round makes this quite good course one to avoid in the future. I'm not sure of the the trade-off of sending out 5-balls vs. faster pace of more 4-balls, but the back up on the tees (weekday), especially the Par 3, No. 12 is in need of some serious course marshalling. The course is in good shape given it's heavy traffic, but the greens take a beating with many, unrepaired, ball marks.

Played the back nine this morning early. It seems as though some people just show up to play the back nine without paying. I saw several people walk straight to the tenth tee from the parking lot. I have never seen so many people playing the back nine on any other golf course (except maybe Eldorado Park). Still, even though there were a bunch of people (playing slow), you can't beat $14. The course was in pretty good shape considering the amount of play the course gets. I would have given the course a higher rating, but the amount of ball marks on the greens was absurd. The greens were in really good shape, but the ball marks make it difficult to get a good roll on any decent length putt. Overall, I thought the course was in very nice shape. The tee boxes were in really good shape as well as the chipping areas around the greens. The fairways were being cut today, but the clippings were left there, so there were a bunch of clumps of grass just sitting out there in the middle of the fairway, which cut down on the roll.

I always like to play here. This course has the best value. THANK YOU LA COUNTY! I can't say the same for Skylinks or El Dorado.
Despite all the play this course gets the greens are in great shape. The fairways are not bad either. The bunkers and 5 hour rounds are the negatives.

Favorite course to play in the area, but was disappointed with conditions and pace on 7/21. Round took a long time to play, 5 1/2. The greens were okay some bare spots and divot damage, the failways were not in good shape the had 2 inch lines in them from tee to green which resulted in some less then ideal lies, greens had similar lines but had mostly healed.

Played here yesterday (Sunday) for the 1st time, really liked the classic course layout and its good course to walk. A little surprised they send out ALL 5-somes, but somehow it almost works as pace was ok, a few backups, round took 5 hours. Greens & fairways were in much better shape than one might expect at this price point with this much traffic on the course.

played sat 7/16. we had a 8:15 tee time for four. was pretty backed up so we teed off about 8:30ish. first time ive had them put a single that was walking with a 4some. pace of play was pretty good. finished in just over 4 hours. cant recall having to wait at any hole. the only thing that really bugged me was the sprinklers going in the middle of the fairways for half of our round causing puddles everywhere and getting sprayed with that gross recycled water. other than that it was a nice round. greens were fairly fast and pretty smooth. tee boxes and fairways were both pretty nice as well. well worth the money for a muni.

played a couple of days ago. went off the back 9 early. there were many people waiting to go off the back; this is a very crowded place. the course was in very good shape. the greens and the tee boxes were nice (played from the tips). as to be expected at a muni, there were some bare spots in places, but all in all in very good shape. definately worth the green fee. i would highly recommend playing this course from the tips. there are some interesting tee shots when playing from back there. it requires you to be able to maneuver the ball better than from just the blue tees.

Played Wed early AM. Round took 4 1/2hrs. Not bad considering allowing 5s to a hole. Was not pushed and wasn't waiting. Sand was fluffy, greens were in decent shape (a little bumpy) but good speeds and pretty true breaks. Some fairways were well manicured and tee boxes well kept. Lakewood seems like a flat simple course, but there is enough length and differences in views and pin placement tweaks to make the round enjoyable and challenging. If picking between Skylinks, El Dorado, Rec and Lakewood for an early AM (before 7:30) midweek, I'd pick Lakewood.

Played Easter Sunday 8AM. Pace of play was brisk. We could have finished faster (it took us 5 hours to play) but we were putting and chipping since there was no one behind us for practically the whole round. The only glimpse of the group behind was when we say them on the first tee, after that they were between a hole or two holes behind us. We felt sorry for the groups behind those knuckleheads. Greens although areated a week ago have come back amazingly well. Blame the good weather of the past week. I figure at least 1 more week possibly 2 and they will run very well. At the moment you get 4x4 bounces from the punched holes BUT the greens are quick and there is no sand on the greens except for the plugged holes from the arefication. Fairways in good shape. Sand in tremdous shape just wet. Tee boxes are good but several are not level. Mind you not the point of making them unplayable just a bit bumpy in spots.

Lakewood Country Club greens are the best I've seen for awhile, Dave Nava the new greenskeeper is doing a great job. Get out and play there soon, 7400 yards for the Rocks, nice layout and good greens, all for $27 weekends.
I've been told AG is punching the greens at the beginning of the April and usually they take about 2 months to recover.

Played 1/1 the course wasnt that crowded since i was a single took only 30 min to get on ill start with the tee boxes... there alright but some with some not level and some with bare spots then the fairways were playing fairly well pretty lush than the rough was alright with some barespots and i think they need to grow it out to make the course a little harder and the sand traps were reely nice i think some courses have very little sand but lakewood has a lot of it but not so much to get baried in... and the greens are the nicest part of the course.... they are moving the best i ahve ever seen them roll... there roll perfect... just people START FIXING YOUR DIVOTS... i ahte when people dont well the course was in fairly well shape and for the price it is a great deal...

Nice course layout. I like the design of the greens, although condition is often an issue. Usually too soft and spungy and become bumpy quickly.
Good length at over 7,000 yards from the rocks. Overall a good challenging test at a great rate.

This round was painful. OMG the group ahead lived to play slow. Funny how you can spot newbie players. This one guy's set up took over 5 mins. He would take his 5 mins only to hit the ball extreme right -- so it was army golf for that guy -- nonstop. No one ever fixed their divots. It was sad. The only good thing was the course is in great shape. Greens were a little bumpy but ran fast -- the way I like it. Fairways were in wonderful condition. Tee boxes though need a little work. Some uneven but still workable. They trimmed the trees as well as cleared some of the brush in the water hazards so you get to watch your ball get a drink after you hit it poorly instead of guessing the ball ran into the water.

I played Monday at about 10am and flew around the course in just over four hours. The course is in terrific shape. The greens were actually rolling at a moderate speed, which is fantastic. The only negative is unfixed or incorrectly fixed ball marks. By the way, I walked the course, but a single rider in a cart is sixteen bucks...YIKES!

Overall, a pretty good muni course. However, I personally don't like playing courses adjacent to homes. There's a stretch of holes (13-16?) lined with homes on one or both sides of the fairway.

This course is definitely worth the green fee. The only thing I recommend is playing early in the morning, around 7am, because it gets crowded... There really is no rough in this course, but the greens make up for it :) It's a fun course to play, and the conditions are always average or good.

The conditions at Lakewood on 3/26 was just okay, but I was surprized that our foursome played a 4.5 hour round. We started at 7 am and finished around 11:30 am, which is the fastest round I ever played there or at any LA County course on a Sunday morning. Lakewood has a nice country club layout, but the course should definitely work on the rough; there really is no rough at this course. The greens run smooth like usual, the fairways are okay, not the best I've seen it. The pro-shop people offer good service. Overall, considering the green fee, I would recommend this course.

PLAYED 2/10 TEED OFF AT 11:25AM FINISHED WHEN IT WAS GETTING DARK. I SAW THE MARSHALL ALL DAY AND HE NEVER TRIED TO SPEEDUP PLAY. THE GROUP IN FRONT OF US WAS A HOLE BACK FOR ALL 18 HOLE. THE COURSE WAS IN GOOD SHAPE. FROM TEE BOXES TO FAIRWAYS AND GREENS. GREAT LAY OUT, IF ONLY THEY WOULD PUT TRY AND WORK ON THE RUFF. A PLACE TO PLAY. BUT GET OUT EARLY.

Played Twighlight Sunday 11/6. Late Morning start of a mini tournament made for slow play on the whole course. Greens were OK after areating. A little bumpy but you can tell the greens will recover nicely after a week/two. Fairways were greenish and well covered as were the rough. Just wish play was a tad faster as the foursome I was playing with kept on the heels of the 5-some ahead and the 4 some riding behind were no where to be seen on most holes. Finished 15 holes before it was too dark for a 12:45 tee off time. Not good especially with the sun going down at 5:30ish.

Played Sunday twighlight. What a mistake. Play was SLOW. Barely finished 17 before the lack of light made it impossible to continue play. Greens were just recently punched and coming back nicely. If you want to play bouncy bouncy with your golf ball as it does an Evil Kinevil over the hole be my guest. Saw it happen twice. I would suggest perhaps another month before the greens come back. Otherwise fairways and Tee Boxes in great shape considering its coming into fall.

Lakewood is a nice course. There are long holes and nice greens. A couple of unique features to take note of are being next to long beach air port and seeing wild life on the course if you're lucky. I've seen a red fox on hold 2.

Played on Saturday morning as a walk-on. Tee'd off at 7:00 and it took only 4:45 to play 18, and for Lakewood this is very good. We weren't pushing anybody and we were not being push. The greens were bumpy due to recently being punched. There are two things that really got to me during the round, the first thing is all the ball marks on the greens. WHY CAN'T ANYBODY FIX THERE MARKS???? It is not that hard. The second thing is that in the primary cut of rough it was all grass shavings from being mowed. With the dew from the morning, it looked like I was wearing big fuzzy green slippers. I know they need to cut the grass but this was way out of hand. And it was on every hole. But it was a good day of golf.

Played this course in early May for a tournament, and it was in great shape. I just played it on 6/10/05 and could not believe how bad it had gotten in just one month. The greens were full of divots, partly due to player abuse, and the fairways were in about the same shape. Ended up playing only the front nine. Sad to see because this has been such a great local course. I hope they fix it up to the potential it has.

Local Favorite, Lakewood CC is in great shape. Only problem I would say would be greens. They are rife with thatch and need work to removed bumpiness. Course is lush. Rough is tough and thick so beware the errant drive and club up to get suitable distance.

Course is in excellent shape; however trees are being trimmed so some areas need cleanup. Greens are very lush but could be mowed more closely. Played a small office tournament starting at 11:30 a.m. with another small tournament ahead of us. Great pace. Rain last night and this morning left the bunkers with heavy sand. Most bunkers had been well raked by the greenskeepers, but not all. Great day and good value!

Stay away from the right side on your second shot into 18! They did some tree trimming but got lazy and left all the clippings along the driving range fence. Way to go, guys. And why are the greens so bumpy early Sunday morning? hmmm. I'll get you next time, scgolfer.

Over 5 hours and 15 minutes to complete a round on a weekday. Thought that aerated greens would lessen the crowd. Guess not. Probably take about a month for the greens to recover.

I played lakewood on 3.10. I play here fairly regularly, but it had been a few months. The course has dried out nicely and is very green and lush. The greens are a touch slow, but for the amount of play the course gets, it's certainly understandable that the greenskeepers let the grass grow a touch. The tees, fairways, and bunkers are all in great shape.
Best of all, I played Friday morning, wide open. Only a couple singles on the list, and we got right out.
Can you tell this is one of my faves? A great golfing value.

Played Saturday, 12/18 in a tournament. 90 minutes late due to 50% off so they sent us out in groups of 6. Very poor planning by the Lakewood CC tournament director. They were very apologetic but that only goes so far.

As for the course, the fairways were in pretty good shape. Greens rolled ok, but could have been smoother. It was definitely much greener than Skylinks!

Played 7/5. Course was packed. FYI, July is Junior Golfer Month, and juniors play for a dollar at L.A. County Golf Courses with a paying adult after three. Course was in standard shape, fairways decent, greens good, but slow, rough, tee boxes and traps all okay. It's always going to be slow here, teed off about 3:20, got 14 holes in before dark. Many times, two and three groups on tees waiting. But, it's also expected. Played with my son, can't ever complain.

The greens are coming back from the aeration but are still a little slower than normal. Playing on 7/4/ had a 8:00 tee time and got out early @ 7:30 not to many people there but it was still a 5 hour round. Great customer service and a great price to play.

The greens on the back nine were aerated first and have come back well, the front side should also be there by next weekend. The rest of the course is in good shape. Stay out of the bunkers the sand is soft and saw five balls pluged during this round. Tee boxes could be a little more level in spots.

Greens had been aerated on Monday which is why the greens were so bad. In a couple of weeks they should be in good condition and would be worth the price. The starters are always very nice. The worst thing about Lakewood is that they are usually late in getting you off and it takes 5 to 51/2 hours to play.

Played on Sat, 4/3 as part of PLGA Amateur tourney. Tee times were close to being on time - approx 10 minutes behind, which isn't bad for a Saturday at an American Golf facility. Speed of play was normal for tourney play - 5 hours.

Course was in great shape - new traps, defined fairways, receptive greens. Rough has been trimmed back so not as punitive as noted in previous posts.

Better players should enjoy this course if they play from the champ tees. Most of the par fives are reachable in two, but are offset by the tough par threes...most at 200 plus, with water and protective traps. Good overall test...If they can keep the course conditions at the current level, probably one of the best values in LA County.

THIS COURSE GOT UNDER-RATED. THE TRACK IS IS A GOOD CHALANGE FOR ALL LEVELS OF PLAY. THEY HAVE SOME LONG PAR 4'S AND CHALLANGING PAR3'S, WITH WATER IN PLAY.
THE FAIRWAYS WHERE ALITTLE THIN, BUT YOU DO GET THAT EXTRA DISTANCE. THE ROUGHS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. THE SAND TRAPS HAVE GOOD QUALITY SAND AND MAINTAINED. THE GREENS ARE A BIT TRICKY, SO IT DOES TEST YOUR TOUCH. PACE WAS AVERAGE. BUT, I WILL PLAY HERE AGAIN. WORTH THE GREEN FEES.

A nice inexpensive golf course. All hazards are visible on this course. However, if you can't hit it +230 yards off the tee consistently its better to play the whites. If played from the stones this course plays just over 7000 yards. The greens hold shots very well but are on the slow side. Large greens here means you must pay attention to the red, white, and blue flags more so than most courses for estimating the distance from your ball to the hole on approach shots. This course has 4 great par 3's.

Once again it took 5 1/2 hours to play a round. They did let us off almost on time. We have had to wait as much as an hour after our starting time and it is usally over 30 minutes. The rough was horrible. Everyone was complaining that they were having problems finding their ball which might have contributed to the 51/2 hours it took to play. You can loose the ball right off of the fairway.
Between the slow play and the rough our foursome was glad the day was over. This was NOT a fun day.

Played early this morning. I don't know why the course conditions ratings are so low. I am a stickler for emmaculate course conditions, and I have to say that for a muni, Lakewood was in pretty good shape. The greens weren't fast, but they rolled fairly true. Since we've had some rain recently, the course was fairly lush. I played from the championship tees; this course has some decent length to it. A few of the par 3's play long and are a good challenge. The course layout makes for some fun shotmaking and risk-reward decisions. There are a lot of good scoring opportunites. For under $30, you can't do too much better, with the exception of El Dorado (unless you go 50 miles away). This course has a lot of potential; they should charge a little more and keep it in better shape. The championship tee boxes weren't mowed that well. I guess they don't get too much play back there. The course conditions should not be a reason to stay away. Now, the slow play on the other hand should give you pause. Today it was wet from the rain, so not as many showed up. I was suprised how little standing water there was.

I have definitely seen better days at Lakewood. This is the second time in a month I played here and the conditions of the course had not improved and in fact got worse. I am very disappointed in the conditions especially after all the money that was recently spent on improvements. The only redeeming portion of the course at this point were the sand traps. They are very good traps. The greens were very slow and very bumpy. This course used to be worth every penny but for my money right now I would take Rec Park in Long Beach any day of the week.

Overall I really like Lakewood. I have no complaints about the course. What I am upset about is their policy of making 5 somes. It's bad enough if a course allows 5 somes, but Lakewood only sends out groups of 5. I played on Sunday, so I don't know if they do the same durring the week, but it makes for some really slow golf.

I don't know what it is about Lakewood? I always have something weird happen when I play there! Thursdays is ladies day in the morning, I forgot and showed up at @ 9:45am, they go from 9 am to 11sih, thats great. I go to the car to cool off in the aircondition and make some phone calls. I pop back in at 10:30 sih and the starter says he called me like 12 times? Who knows I dont know, did not hear anything, MY FAULT!!! But he says I left you on the list , WOW where else would they do that???? So I got out a little later in the hot hot heat! Long day out there, still had chance to break 80 from the blues but 3 putted and shot 81? At any other course I would not have had the chance to play today. Thanks to the guys working at Lakewood. P.S. Plugging greens on Monday OCT 27th.

This classic parkland track is in as good a shape as I've ever seen it. A fun, relatively flat course, water comes into play on about six holes. At least two of the par fives are reachable in two. Two great par threes over water, one on the front is about 175 and the one on back is over two bills and into the wind. Hit it in the center of the club face or pull out another pill. Have fun!

An improved course Lakewood is! There is now clear definition between fairway and rough. (Looks nice) There are more bunkers on this course and they are large. There are even fairway bunkers for short hitters. Maybe I just have bad luck, but the greens were in bad shape again. Looks like they aerified 2weeks ago. Probably have to come back in 2 weeks from now to see decent greens. The course plays over 7000 yards from the rocks. The par 3's here are tough. 3 of the 4 are well over 200 yards from the tips. (crowded 5 hour day every day at lakewood)

The course is in fairly good condition. As the rest of the feedbacks state, the course is in a little renovation mode. Bunkers are being added to the course, and there are some amounts of sand along the rough of the first few holes. However, the greens are in great condition, and roll fairly true. Pace of play is a little slow. By the time you reach the 3rd and/or 5th hole, pace of play suffers. One remedy is to wave up the group behind. Pace of play as of these days is about one to two groups behind. Some of the teebox areas could use some watering; it is sometimes hard to push the tee down to desirable height. However, after renovations, the course should play very well, and I would play the course again.

Played today as walk-on. Was fortunate to get out within 15 minutes, but played as 5-some. Pace of play was a bit slow considering it was Monday - just under 5 hours. Course is in nice shape at the moment...fairways were tight, with only a few thin spots, rough was not severe, greens accepted/held well struck shots and were good speed overall.

They are currently working on redoing sand traps on several hole on the front nine. Looks very promising as it appears they are trying to add some teeth back to this course. Not sure how long the maintenance schedule will be, but look forward to playing this track when all is finished...and I'll be back again before its done.
