Just played this course last Sunday (4/7). Pretty poor experience over all. The course itself was nicely laid out and fairly well kept with good conditions throughout even with the recently punched greens. However, the pace of play was horrendous. Granted, it was a Sunday afternoon but I have played many sunday afternoon rounds in under 5.75 hrs, just not here. When we arrived at most of the tee boxes, the wait was two to three groups deep. This lasted the entire front nine. The back nine seemed to pick up a bit of speed but we noticed many of the groups in front of us had given up and gone home. This was just a subtle reminder of why I don't play metro LA and OC courses too often.

Where do I start? Like the previous reviewer says, the rating of this course as of now should be lower than what it is. Course is in very bad condition since the last time I've played this course. Almost all of the tee boxes are thin and not leveled. Fairways and the rough were also thin, dried out, with lots of bare spots. The only good thing I can say about the course are the greens and bunkers. Greens rolled true and held their line. I was in the bunker twice and they were nice and fluffy. Pace of play was horrible since the foursome in front of my group was about a hole and half behind. Played front nine in 3 hours. After a couple of complaints to the marshall, they sped up just a tad bit but not by much. Finished the round in a little over five and a half hours. I hope this course is getting ready for some major maintenance. I definitely won't be back again until it is back to its usual standards. This course is normally in great shape.

Went to play last sunday expecting an empty course. Turns out there was a tournament in the morning. We arrived at the tailend of the event and was expecting a delay in our 1230 tee off. Was pleasantly surprised that we teed off on time and without any hitch. Played behind a 5some but pace was decent and finished in a little over 4 hours. Wow!

Greens are slower than usual but decent and still good speed. Dont over read the breaks! winter conditions with fairways dormant and brown but we can live with that. :) Some pretty fun holes, on 6 dogleg right with water on the right side. Didnt hit the bunkers all day but it looked pretty decently stocked.

They do have a driving range with mats. and a large putting green right next to the 1st and 10th hole.

it was a perfect day for golfing. Enjoyed the course and would love to come back.

I teed off at about 9:30 on Sunday morning. I was expecting to go off late due to a frost delay, but I went off right at my tee time. The course was in good winter shape from tee to green, with a couple tee boxes distressed but adequate. The fairways are dormant, hard, and a little thin, but typical for winter and very playable. The sand in the bunkers is brown, muni sand, but well-maintained and a fair challenge from which to play. The greens were GREAT. Fast and smooth with very few ball marks. If you haven't played this course, its a moderately long, tree-lined layout with many good holes and a handful of outstanding holes. The pace of play was a little over 4.5 hours, and this course is easily walkable and fairly priced.

I played for 24.50 (Groupon) 18 holes and cart. GREAT! Pace was FANTASTIC! 4:05 time with 5 players. nice day too. Yes there are several ball marks near flag stick on 3 pars. Green were soft and the gold TRIED to repair, but many were NOT well done. Tee boxes need time to repair. You could always find nice grass, but it's winter time and the grass is not growing like summer time. Many divots on fairways, but sand is provided, and used so i had now fairway divot lies.

Played late morning on Sunday, 11/25/12. I played here with other GKers last Fall and really enjoyed the conditioning and attention the City has given the course.

Forecast called for sunny and warm, but arrived to find heavy fog, wet conditions, and the course playing very long. Teed off 15-20 minutes late behind 2 foursomes that became fivesomes midway through the front nine - must be some kind of experimental cloning. Pace of play was typical of SoCal munis on weekends - ~5 hours and disappointing.

Greens were receptive and rolled well at medium speed. All greens had lots of ballmarks. All greens also had lots of small dried debris on them - I assume it was grass cuttings and misc debris picked up on players shoes and then winding up on the greens. Fairways were in OK shape, although lies were thin and frequently 'down'. Rough was fairly benign except in areas hard to reach with mowers or under the many trees, where you might get bushy grass or bare dirt and leaves. Bunkers were in pretty good shape - sand was damp and heavy, fairly fluffy in some instances.

The back tee on hole 14 was closed last Fall and is still closed. Other tees were in pretty good shape except par-3 tees, which were pretty well torn up in the teeing areas.

Saw the cart girl a few times. Plenty of water available. Recommended.

Played here Thursday the 25TH. Starting time was 8:28 and they were about 15 to 20 minutes behind. Once we started the course seemed to move along a reasonable pace.
I can't say how nice the greens were putting. Smooth , true and fast for a public links in So. Cal. I really don't have a complaint about the course, it's in very good condition for the hot summer we have had. I will play there again.

Got out for twilight yesterday, Wednesday, for $21 walking which is a very good deal for this course. Just to get it out of the way, there were two five-somes in front of us (a threesome) that were playing some kind of money game and they were playing like it. While generally slow, watching them deliberately size up their putts and their general pace on the greens was particularly painful. It got a little better on the back nine, but we finished in the dark and should have been done while the sun was still up. By the fourth hole, the backup of groups behind us was reminiscent of the holding pattern of jets over LAX on a busy day. That said, we got the round in. The course conditions overall were very nice. Tee boxes were great—flat, clean, nice coverage. The fairways were tight and green and I don't recall any bare or brown spots. Rough was a fair challenge overall with varying lengths of grass, and usually cost you a shot. The greens were a nice medium fast speed and generally were good. There were a couple of exceptions as to a little bumpiness, and there were a lot of ball marks with good number not repaired, but the former was minimal while the latter was manageable (pull out that repair tool). Overall, I enjoyed the greens' challenge and pace. The front nine is on the longer side vs. the back and the course in general is narrow because they have fit a lot of course into a fairly small urban footprint, but they seem to keep it in above average condition. Because the holes generally play pretty straight and flat, it's not the most interesting layout, but mounding and trees between fairways gives each hole a certain intimacy from it's neighboring holes so you don't feel like you are on some kind of grid. Overall, I think they've made the most of a tight space and conditioned it well. Pace aside, it was an enjoyable round.
