Played 8/21/25 hot and steamy day 94 degrees. Rack rate $185! I payed $50. Tees good, fairways super pure I'm talking perfect lies. Greens on the other hand were way to soft, divots from iron shots were massive. Green speeds were barely medium fast. Now if I was to drop $185 I would sure hope to see firm greens that were running fast and rolling pure which is basically the opposite of how they really are. Irvine Co is eventually going to turn this course into a housing development which will be a tremendous lost for the South OC golfers.

Perfect day for golf. Sunny, warm, no wind. Paired with a father and son, good guys. Course is in fantastic winter shape. Tee boxes were in good shape for the most part, level, and easy to find a good spot to tee up. A few of the white tee boxes are being worked on, doesn't affect play. The fairways green, full coverage, ball sits up nicely. Rough not long, brownish/yellowish frames the fairways perfectly. Greens rolled well, medium speed. Subtle breaks that are hard for me to read accurately. A few 3 putts that shouldn't have been.
We started on #10 - not sure why but not an issue. Drink cart around a few times on each side.
This is one of my favorite OC courses. Somehow they make you feel very secluded in the middle of the city. No houses and very little street noise, although that appears to be changing as there is some construction going on adjacent to the course. Staff very helpful and friendly. My friend has their membership deal which makes the greens fees more reasonable. Highly recommend you get out here and play.

Got a decent twilight rate at Oak Creek on Thursday, 1/25/24, at 1:40pm. Thought we might have time to finish, then the rains started earlier this week. The course was pretty wet and it was path-only. Discovered through lots of walking that the cart paths here are on the high-lines of the holes, so all balls run away from the path as the fairways/terrain slopes away. Also, there’s just a lot of area between the paths and the playing areas, additionally increasing the amount of walking. So in these wet conditions this course is a long, exhausting slog.

Otherwise, conditions are pretty good. We started on time as the sun finally broke out and we had pleasant weather with little wind. Fairway coverage was good – the grass was a bit shaggy as they hadn’t been able to mow for a couple days, but not too bad. With path-only players need to carry their sand bottles with them out to the ball – most don’t, and there were lots of unfilled divots out there. Rough was not much longer than the fairway and not difficult to play from. Tees were level and a little shaggy, but OK. Coming off my long layoff and loss of distance, we played the Copper tees, and many were pushed even farther forward than the card distance. Traps were generally good, and I think I was in more sand this round than any I can remember ever– still working on that direction control! The greenside trap on #11 gets a lot of use and needs more sand. Greens were in good condition – mostly firm, damp enough to hold shots, and rolled nicely at medium speed.

Used the practice facility ahead of time and remembered how nice it was. $10 for 50 balls about average these days. Range was on grass and large chipping green available, as well as multiple putting greens. Bag staff was courteous and efficient. Saw the cart girl 2 or 3 times. Probably could have finished if not for the path-only requirement – finished #16 as darkness fell.

Recommended – look for deals or play twilight.

Played Saturday 8:20 tee time. Paired with two guys really good guys that made the round that much better. Out on time. Overcast and light mist first few holes. Course is in overall really nice shape. Tee boxes good. Fairways green and cut tight - decent run out. Rough was thick and wet in some spots. Was in a few sand traps, 2 were really good, one not so much - not a lot of sand, lots of leaves, and unraked (not courses fault). Greens were in good shape, a few had signs of recent work, consistent speeds from green to green. Pace was about 4:15 - we didn't see the group in front of us after hole 2 and never saw the group behind us, so we took our time. Nice practice facilities, grass range, and free practice putting green by first tee. Glad they got the greens back in shape, really enjoy this course and hope to get out again soon.

Greens and Fairways were beautiful. No signs of the damaged or sparse greens I saw in September. Kudos to the crew at Oak Creek.

Played Oak Creek with a buddy, first group out so pace of play was great! The tee boxes, fairways and traps were all in good shape but the greens…they were terrible! Lots of sand, bare spots and dirt. Holes 1-9 were much better than the back nine. The restaurants and bars weren’t open, and apparently haven’t been since Covid. There was coffee at the starters table, a nice touch. The rate was discounted but still paid $125 per. The starter was great as was the person who eventually came into the clubhouse but the first guy…not easy to talk to and it was pretty awkward. I’ll leave it at that.

Always tough to be critical, but at this point in time, I'd avoid due to poor green conditions. I believe, to Oak Creek's credit, they discounted green fees, as they recognize the greens are not up to their standards. Very poor in some areas, and at best, just below average. Despite condition, rolled better than they would appear, in most cases.

Fairways were excellent, very good coverage and good cushion, but still firm enough to get decent roll out.

Did not hit from any bunkers, but appeared to have ample amount of sand.

No issues with tee boxes.

Beverage cart around a couple of times, could have used one more appearance on back nine.

Grille (reason unknown) is still closed, and was also closed when I played here a few months ago.

Vast grass hitting range, excellent chipping / practice are. Friendly customer service.

Course is in very good condition. A few greens still show evidence of maintenance and they are letting them grow out a little still, so somewhat on the slower side. Tees level and good coverage, fairways really nice, rough is thick in spots. Some spots ball sits down, others sits up high on the rough. Was in a few bunkers and sand was consistent, no issues.
Was great to get out to Oak Creek, it's been four years or so since I played here last. My friend treated, so not sure what the fees are, but he has the membership deal so good discount off rack rate. All in all a great day and I recommend you get out here if you can.

Got out for a 1:00 pm round on Thursday 2/24. Excellent POP finishing in around 4:20 even with a relatively slow player in our group.

It was my first time here and the course lived up to expectations. Never had a hard time finding a flat lie on tee boxes, fairways were in great shape for being mid-"Winter" here in SoCal, bunkers had a perfect amount of fluffy sand, and the greens were running fast and pure all day, but still held well hit shots.

Definitely a course where you can benefit from some local knowledge, and luckily one of the playing partners was happy to give advice. Some tee shots made you think and the approach shots were a nice challenge all day, with some pins being in downright brutal positions.

Pro shop mentioned that rates will be increasing March 1, so not sure how often I will splurge on playing here, but as of now, the $80 twilight rate is a great value for this course.
