5/21 tee off deal time $16--finally get in a round after almost a month away--misting and drizzle for the 1st 8 holes but no complaints. Recent rain and morning moisture has helped green up and grow the fairways to a fairly good condition overall with some thin spots and GUR. Rough is spotty but where is does exist was quite juicy what with the mist. Tees just ok but filling in with some markers placed too near the more un-level areas. Most bunkers needed a good grooming as they were compacted and wet.
Greens are at least 90% recovered but damp and on the slower side for this course. POP 3 1/2 with no one else around.

Played here early Saturday morning, 4/7/18. I was the third group out, so pace of play was not a problem. I finished in about 3.5 hours. Staff were all really friendly. This was my first time playing this course, so I struggled with course management and club selection. This course is extremely narrow, with many holes having steep hills filled with thick brush and bushes bordering the fairways. If you are inaccurate off the tee, you will be punished.

Gary00 has done a good job detailing the overall conditions here. I did not have any bad lies in the fairways or rough. I did see some thin spots in the rough, but I never had any problems. The greens were exceptional. Every putt rolled true and fast. Was in one greenside bunker and it was firm and damp.

One thing of note is that the course now plays as a par 69 from the blues. They appear to be doing construction on the original 5th and 6th holes. Thus, they now have had to incorporate those two holes into the other 16 holes they have on the course. This means they split a par 5 into a par 3 and par 4. They also made a longer par 4 into a very short par 4 and short par 3. Despite these modifications, I still found the course fun.

4/4 GSC $23 with range balls 320 POP with 740 start. Recent rain has brought a little more green to the fairways which are still in winter condition a little patchy with some really good lies and many not so much. Rough is 1-2 along fairways and seems thicker around many greens. Tees are in fair condition. Bunkers are mixed with some thin hard pan conditions and some quite good especially on an up slope.
Greens firm mostly smooth rolling medium fast--some look rather splotchy but play well.
Getting ready to punch starting 4/23.
Staff really friendly as always.

Played here 2/28 and 3/5 on short notice and were still able to use tee off @20--POP both days under 4 hours. Greens are very good firm fast and smooth challenging with subtle breaks and treacherous on the down slope. Found several bunkers and had good lies every time--made good outs to inside 5 feet but made only 1 putt.
Fairways are in full winter condition some areas pretty thin and some quite good. Not much rough but I still found a few thick patches mostly nearer to the greens.
Tees are thin and many have been sanded over--look worse than they play.
Staff members are friendly and easy going and quite accommodating.
For me the course is only 5 minutes from my house is easy to get on and provides an interesting challenge. and yes it is inexpensive to play.

2/9 and 2/20 golfsocal $23 with range balls--fairways are a mix of dormant areas and some patches of green along with a few thin to sparse places. 80% of the lies were good the others were marginal--we were playing them down so the rub of the green factored in. Rough is patchy some places thick and deep(3") some areas about 1" and then a few bare spots along the perimeter. Tees are taking a beating quite thin with a lot of sand fill and with winter conditions grass just don't grow.
Bunkers are inconsistent--many have been filled with fine deep sand which requires taking less sand and still exploding the ball out. The bunkers that have the old sand tend to be thin with a cover of a more coarse grain variety which needs to employ less bounce in the effort.
Greens are firm fast to medium fast and smooth of good quality.
Friendly easy going staff.

1/31 free birthday round. Fairways have a wide range of conditions from winter thin to quite lush. Rough is sparse. Tees generally rather thin and depending on markers level or not so much. Found bunkers on #4 and #9 and had good playable lies--had been groomed and was lucky enough to avoid the multiple sets of unraked footprints which I took time to smooth. I hope the golf gods gave out lots of triples and lost balls to those inconsiderate hacks. Greens firm fast and smooth rolling true. Staff continues to be friendly and welcoming. POP just under 4 hours.

12/27 using tee off deal time with 10% discount-final fee $26. Fairways showing more winter conditions thin in places ok in others--lies acceptable. Really no rough and some bare areas on the fringes. Tees generally thin but playable with some slope depending on marker placement.
Found 2 bunkers #14 and #17 were in good shape with deep sand and mostly raked.
Greens are really smooth and quick for putts--best to be below the hole as the 3-5 foot putts from the other side only needed a nudge and were tough to get on the right line. Firm conditions contributed to chips and pitches rolling out.

Played 12/6 and 8 using teeoff deal times for $16 and $20--POP Wednesday 4 1/2 behind men's club and 320 on Friday with absolutely no one in sight. Beautiful weather sunny with an occasional breeze. Fairways play much better than they look having different varieties of grasses there are color variations and a few thin areas but also some really nice areas as well . Had good lies all day from the fairway. Rough cut down to about 1-2 inches along the fairway--not too penal for shot making--but longer and thicker around the greens.
Found the greenside bunker on #3 on the up slope so had plenty of sand under the ball. By observation a lot of the traps needed some attention as they suffered from deep footprints left by selfish inconsiderate doofs.
Tees were mostly ok depending on marker placement.
Greens were fast and had gotten faster over the 2 days--both my partner and I had trouble adjusting today and were faced with 4-5 foot recovery putts most of the day(Friday)--With the exception of some damage on the front of #4(not affecting play however) the greens are way better than most courses in the area. Smooth fast and consistent.
Staff continues to be cheerful and easy going.
There are some condition factors along the creek/riparian area on the back 9 as the environmental group that oversees parts of the course had the non-native shrubs and plants removed leaving some bare ground and construction damage that is more of an aesthetic issue,
This is a value course--eg GSC has new offer $23 weekdays and $33 weekends--plus other online deals.

11/27 using teeoff deal time $16 POP 3 1/2 a little cool and breezy but nothing to complain about for late November. Course is getting plenty of water so fairways have ok cover--rough cut down a bit but still slows the ball and can provide interesting lies. Not in any bunkers but most look to have been recently groomed. Tees a little thin and depending on marker placement some not so level.
Greens are back to their normal good condition rolling medium-fast to fast--do not get above any front flags as the green falls away after the cup--lot of 4 footers coming back.
Not high end but a lot of fun and a lot of bang for the buck with friendly staff as a bonus.
