False fronts and slow greens make for an overrated course. Whenever I play here then somewhere else, I end up blowing putts 6 feet past the hole. I understand that if you have greens with false fronts, you need soft greens to hold shots, but it's a bit ridiculous here. The greens are so soft that they are slow and bumpy. Then they try to challenge you on the greens with severe tiers and slopes, not fun. Tustin Ranch is pure target golf for approach shots.

This course is over-priced by $50. For the money here, I would much rather play Oak Creek, Talega and Black Gold. The crazy part is, they just raised their rates! What a joke.

Good course, but $160.00 + $18.00 for a cart on the weekends. No wonder rounds are down.

Overall okay average course - nothing special, course gets kind of boring - green fees are way to high for how un-interesting this course is. Nice water features though - could see large trout swimming in the lake too!

Played today, was really looking forward to it. Course played well, greens in good shape. No pacing of players, for the price they charge you would think they would space the tee times; instead they dump everyone on the course as quick as possible.....plan on lots of waiting time. If you have idiots around you like we did, they kept hitting up on us, we acquired lots of new balls. Course is not worth the money paid, there are lots better places to play cheaper.

I found this to be quite a civilized tract with a fair and reasonably interesting layout. Fairways had a brownish tinge but no bare spots to be seen and I was always hitting from grassy lies. Rough was appreciable but not too punishing. My main problem was with the greens. I found them to be bumpy and their speed inconsistent, which is unfortunate for the green fees charged by this course. I’ve putted on better greens on courses that were much less expensive. The one or two times I was in the traps, I found them to be in very good shape.

A little insight from an insider informed me that they’re actually raising the green fees because the course is taking a beating from so much play. It was fairly crowded on the Friday afternoon I stopped by. My guess is that this course is a favorite of locals who enjoy the convenience and don’t mind shelling out $150 for a green fee. (I don’t remember being able to see the ocean.) It’s a course that I’m glad I played once, but I wouldn’t put it on my list of regulars.

Well i got to play here today and the course is in great shape. The staff here at Tustin is wonderful very polite and helpful. I read some of the other reviews and all people could say was how much it costs to play here. Okay $175 is a lot but if you join there membership there which I did you get Two free rounds of golf and save 40-45% on your green fees. So know I only pay $105 on the weekends. I will be spending a lot of time there.

Course is in decent shape. Greens hold shots well, but are a bit bumpy and puts tend to 'wiggle' on their way to the hole. A little disconcerting, to say the least.
FYI, Tustin Ranch has the audacity to charge Holiday rates during the week throughout the Christmas break---$175!!!!!! Seriously. Who is paying that MUCH to play this course? I am considering issuing a Lifetime Ban on Tustin Ranch. Stay tuned....

The course is in good shape, I will give them that. The greens are nice (little bumpy) and the rough is lush. That said, there is no way in this world they should be able to charge what they charge for this course. It is a crime! If you like house lined flat fairways for an exorbitant price, this is the place for you.

Played in a tourney yesterday at TR. I played here 6 months ago and told myself I would never play again for $150 or $110 during the week, period. Not challenging and every par 4 is kinda the same. Since, my entry fee was already played, I wanted to give this course one more look. In summary, this course is nice, but not in anyway worth $150 or even $80. From the tips, its not challenging, nor the tips give the course a different look. Everything is well taken care for, but its not worth the money. If I was going to be willing to pay $150 to play consistently, I would rather join a private club or I would rather save my money to play at Pebble.

Course was very overwatered. Soggy everywhere from fairways to rough. It's 90 degrees and hasnt rained in weeks and we are taking relief from standing water everywhere. Course is also way overpriced. Not nearly worth the $130 they get on weekends. You would think for that price they could throw in some range balls. 5+ hours.

Don't waste your money or time playing this over priced golf course. We played today 5/17/07 at 7am and waited to hit every single shot we had for 18 holes. We could see who was holding up the play a couple groups ahead but the marshal was more interested in pandering to the idiots than making them pick up their pace. I was only a couple over after 9 but the pace as the third ones off the course became so slow it blew my entire back nine and as I said the marshals are gutless. To be honest, the layout is nice but the greens are bumpy. The yardage on the course and the GPS were also off so you mis play shots. As a 4 hdcp and a former assistant I can tell a poor experience when I have it.

First time playing this course and conditions are what you would expect for $150 on a weekend. Greens were rolling true and fariways were tight and clipped short for good roll. Rough was solid but some bare spots. Beautiful course and a very enjoyable round. Quite a bit of water on this course which makes it very nice. The strange thing is, since the overall ambiance is nice, no one hole really stands out from the rest to call a "signature" hole in my opinion. Highly recommended for the splurge play.

It had been a couple years since I last played here! i was very impressed at what great condition the course was in and how well manicured everything was. The course presents itself very nicely visually! Only wish these "high end" Orange County courses weren't so expensive to play. That said, it is a very nice track!

Played back on Sunday 10/1 and my opinion/satisfaction at the time was colored by the fact that I sucked that day and never really felt in control or tempo. In retrospect, the course has an nice, interesting shape to it with a lot of contour and good use of water on a number of holes. On particular holes it definitely put a premium on a well struck and accurate shot (the 11th, I believe is par-three, all-carry over water to a well guarded green), but I think generally the safe areas were generous enough that if you hit it reasonably straight you would generally avoid being punished and had a chance to score. I agree with the previous review about it feeling somewhat like a private club in terma of facilities and the carts were the best I've personally driven.

I believe we were playing the blue tees and there wasn't any work going on yet at that time. The course was in good shape.

Price-wise it would normally be too rich for my blood unless it was a special occasion. While it is a nice course, on the occasion I'd spend that much myself, there are other courses I elect to go to first. It was a drive for me from Altadena, so an equivalent driving radius would include a lot of options. My buddy selected the course and paid in return for a little work I did as a favor for him. He paid for myself and a client and used a two-for-one coupon with the client and a $20 discount on my fee.

If it's in your price range, I would recommend giving it a try. It's a very nice facility. Don't suck, and you'll appreciate it more.

The course is looking fantastic. They are currently overseeding a couple of black tee boxes so the tees were up on about 4 holes. No problem there since the change only shortened the length to around 6600-6700 yds. If you found the fairway, you found a smooth, short, fast carpet. The greens had a few blemishes but it was the end of the day Sunday so it's not their fault, just some inconsiderate duffers. We paid $69 for the twilight (although it was only 2:08) and got in all 18, so it was a very good value. With the fine service, good practive area, and great tap room, Tustin Ranch has the look and feel of a country club. If you can get around the full fare ($150), this is a great place to go.

Played 7/15 Saturday, course is in OK shape for the price (even with OC Trails card). You can never drive onto about 50% of the fairways so what good does the new GPS do? Fairways had been pluged and greens were inconsistent. There are mush better courses to play at lower price even in the OC.

Greens are still too bumpy from aeration over 6 weeks ago. With recent rain, fairways are finally turning green. Lots of divot damage on fairways. Rough was lush. With the wind blowing, #15 and 18 can be very tough. Not worth full price.

Definately not worth the $$$, played there on Sunday 3/5. Greens had been punched "two weeks" prior, but they were still horrible with way too much sand on them. I was expecting a lot more from the course for that kind of cash. Everyone there has an attitude about how great that place is, thinking it is an upscale country club.

I played the course on Sunday 2/26. The greens have all been punched-large diameter and sanded (with a lot of sand - no way to hold a line or judge speed consistantly). A score with the greens in their current condition is pretty much meaningless. It was OK for a twlight practice round as the rest of the course was in fairly normal condition.

Played Thursday, 1/19. Fairways were dormant with clumps of weeds throughout. They stopped overseeding here a few years back (the fairways). Rough and greenside areas were lush; they were letting it grow long for the Tustin City Championships which were today (Saturday). Greens were in good shape. It is not worth $105! My friend is in Men's club so we played for $50. Back nine holes are more interesting than the front. I'd go back. It's nice they allow you to walk.

Played Sunday 7/10 on Golfextra & it was still over $80 since they charge extra for carts. Course is in good condition. Greens are little bumpy, some bunkers had good sand but I was in bunker on 17 that had wet, heavy sand and a very low lip so I decided to putt from it saving par. My complaint here is that the course is not real exciting and only a handful of holes stand out like 11 & 18. I doubt I would pay full price since there are nicer courses out there.

Played 6/1 (Thursday) @ 9AM. Great day. First time @ Tustin Ranch and I have to say it was pretty fun. First, let me say that Tustin Ranch is a nice course. Greens rolled pretty true, (@ medium speed) and at the 1/2 off red dot discount price it was well worth the 57.50 to ride. This is a course with condos built all around it ,therefore, the greens are relatively small so it is a little like target golf in that manner...Do not expect any great elevation changes or "variety" of style here. Many of the holes seem to blend in to each other, almost repetitive. But overall, it is a good deal w/ the red dot discount. An "8" course on the richter scale.

ALWAYS be sure to call course and specifically ask about condition of the greens before driving out there. I didn't ask, and they forgot to tell me greens were "percolated" (I think that means punched, but not sanded) earlier this week. Practice greens were pretty bumpy so I didn't play. You might want to wait a week or two.

Played on 4-4-05 and the course was in great shape. Had a little rain at first but it went away and just had a great day. They had a tournament going out later on so they let us out before and we had the course to ourselves. We played on the golf extra discount which was still $57.50. Rates went up $10 since last year. During the week it was 95.00. They have added a 10.00 cart fee so now it is 105.00. Way to much to play on a course like this. We would play here alot more if it were not for the fees. The only time we play here is with the golf extra discount. We really like the course and the staff is great but it is the typical overpriced Orange county Course. So sad .......

This course is eye candy. Had a tee time of 0840 and teed off at 0825 as a twosome. The greens were a little slow at about 9.5 with a few bare spots, but all in all, the course is in good shape. A few of the bunkers were being redone but the rest were good. Cart path only on about half of the par fours and fives. A lot of workers out today pruning and doing general cleanup. Staff was very friendly. At the senior rate of $68.00 with cart, I’ll be back.

Course in good condition. I like that I can hit range balls off grass, not mats, before a round. Some ground under repair, workers in the line of some shots. Altho felt like we waited on nearly every tee box, pace was good at about 4 1/2 hours for weekday p.m. Greens still recovering from being punched. Lake at 11 remains psychological barrier. Would play here again, but not at full price.

Played 1-4-04, 9:20. Not busy at all. No one in front of us and a twosome behind us. Greens were in very good shape. Med to fast. Fairways were a little brown but probably because of the recent cold weather. They were aerating alot of the fairways and rough and those darn plugs were everywhere, especially on the back nine. Made playing a little bit of a pain. Friendly staff. We had the golf extra discount so our foursome played at 1/2 off the normal rate of $95.00. We all agreed it was a nice course but not worth $95 on a monday. We will only play with a golfextra discount. The $95 weekday rates at some of these Orange country courses got to go!!!!!

Not worth the overpriced green fees for a mediocre course layout. Save your money and play 3 rounds at Sierra Lakes in Fontana.

course was little pricey for quality. Several areas on fairway and around sandtraps were under repair. overall fun to play but white tees were rated 123 which appeared to be excessive.

Great track! I only wish the greens fees were a little more reasonable.

Played 7-29 and had a tee time of 12:10. Caught two some at fourth hole and they had a tee time of 11:35, waited on every shot after this point. A tournament was held this day and slowed everything badly. With this and the aeration of the fairways and greens was not worth the money paid. Wait for things to get better.

Played here for the first time in mid June. Course is expensive if you are not a member or not playing with a member but a really great course. No complaints. Enjoyed the course and the scenery. Greens are fast and a little tricky.

Tustin Ranch is my favorite golf course in OC! It's a beautiful course and the driving range is the best I've ever seen. The staff is the best as well, always friendly and helpful!

Course in great condition, fairways were fine, it's been drizzling in the morning and day, that's why it's wet!!! Greens in great condition, too. Great service as usual.

I also played on 4/16, and I would say the course was in good (not great) shape. The tee boxes have not yet recovered from the aeration and the greens were a little thin, although they still held most shots. Way too expensive, but thats Orange County golf for you.

PLAYED 4/16 FOR THE FIRST TIME. OVER PRICED BUT IT'S IN GOOD CONDITION. JUST LIKE A PALM SPRINGS COURSE CONDOS ALL AROUND.

A buddy and I played the course on 4/3/03. Played in way less than 4 hours. Excellent service. Greens and fairways were in great conditions. Tee boxes were aerated.

mdider has never stepped foot on a tustin ranch tee box. he has never even contimplated playing there, the course would tear him apar. this course is awesome. the only, and i stress only, problem with it is they water it too much. but other than that it is pretty and a challenging course. it is a little overpriced, but if you get a pass it is totally worth it. plus the practice and teaching facilities are the best you can get. five words, tustin ranch awesome, riverview horrible.

Gorgeous course, excellent condition. Felt like I was playing one of the luxurious desert courses in the middle of Orange County. Very attentive service.
