Played 6/21 in a small tournament that was booked months in advance. You would never know since they did not have enough carts out for all the players and none of the carts were marked with the proper hole assignments. Every tournament I've ever played in, the marshal would escort every group to the proper tee. Not here, your basically on your own. Now for the course review. One generic hole after another. The layout lacks any character which makes it kind of monotonous. Tee boxes were mostly level, few divot marks but, in much need of a mow. Fairways were over watered and soaked. Not only hard to hit from also hard to get a cart through. Rough is over grown and soggy. It is ridiculous here and slows down the pace of play. I don't think it's left to grow to enhance the experience but, from an overall lack of maintenance that is seen through out. Greens were long, slow and bumpy. Cart path here are the worst I've seen on a golf course. Most holes I could see worn paths on the fairways where it looks like people avoid the poor path conditions. Last thing I would like to comment on is customer service and club house. Besides the lack of carts and hole assignments, nothing was open where you could purchase coffee, drinks or snacks. They have a nice club house but, the restrooms filthy and had no soap or toilet paper. This is one poorly managed and maintained facility. They won't won't see me again.

Wow! What a nice change. Great service! good prices and great coarse conditions. Golf course was nice and lush. All the fairways mowed with nicely striped patterns. Not too wet as in the past. The Greens were nice as well... a little wet early on but dried out to a nice firm surface by days end. The tee boxes were the best I've seen anywhere lately while the traps lacked sand in areas, they were edged and nicely raked. I would refer this course to anyone who likes a nice old school track with a lot of tree lined fairways. Overall this is a great deal for your money from breakfast to the 19th hole. Thanks Green tree and hats off to the Superintendent.

Just aerified the greens and had a heavy sanding. BIG grains of sand!
Greens here are on the small side making approaches important (but what
approach isn't).
Rough is lush,bunkers are thin. Variety of housing is in and around the layout.
Easy access from Hwy 15.

Played in a tournament this past Saturday at 8 in the morning.

The course is in better shape than the same time last year. Greens are on the long side so you really have to give them a go to get them to the hole. They ran pretty smooth for the most part though. Fairways also looked better than last year. There were a few burned out patches, and a few instances of sod replacement but still very playable (although admittedly, I saw very little of the fairways...) Rough wasn't penalizing and also had some burned out areas. Bunkers were strange. Soft 1/4 to 1/2 inch top layer and firm sand underneath. Very playable just a bit unexpected. Tee boxes were definitely on the hairy side and a couple of the par 3s were a bit chewed up.
All in all it was a nice day for golf and it was also nice to see Green Tree in better shape than I saw it last year. No one is going to mistake it for a well conditioned course, but getting it to average municipal shape is enough for me.

Played early 6-30-13. Got out about 8am and found the course nearly empty. Played in 3 1/2 hours. Course is finally coming back. It was very wet but it seems to be working to get the fairways green again. Greens were smooth and soft but a bit slow. Made them very receptive on approach shots. Didn't end up in any sand traps so don't know how they are doing. I only hope this heat doesn't undo the progress. I am looking forward to playing again in a few weeks to see if conditions continue to improve. Never saw a cart girl and the staff was less than helpful. The score cards were photo copies of the card and when I asked why the guy in the pro shop just shrugged his shoulders. There were a few spots on some greens with black dirt on them. I asked about those and he just said they were re-seeding with no other explanation. Used to be friendly.

Played 3/9/13 with SBogey. His review says it all. I keep hoping this course will return to it's former glory but it doesn't seem likely. Even the extreme cold the area has had this past month doesn't explain BARE DIRT on the fairways. The tee boxes however were GREAT- level, lush, green. Something is funky in paradise for sure with such a disparity between tee box and fairway. Pace of play was fantastic too due to the cold temps (less than 50F) I'm sure but less than 3 1/2 hours is a big plus. The greens were hard, again probably due to the cold, that most weren't holding anything. But just about the time I'd adjust play to take that into account there'd be a green that held like quicksand. Frustrating. Some greens rolled true, others didn't. No rhyme or reason why. No cart but actually- I'm not sure they have one or have ever had one. No starter, no marshal, no extras but not unusual for this muni. The highlight? The clubhouse is the BOMB! Brand new, well appointed bathrooms with lockers and showers; nice pro shop, excellent bar and restaurant with decent prices for good food. Kind of sad that the best thing about this "Hidden Jewel of the Desert" is not the course- it used to be exactly opposite with a fantastic course and dingy falling down club house. Still hoping they'll bring this one back...but I might pass on playing here again until I know it's getting there.

Played 3-9-13. Wow what a difference a few weeks can make. Unfortunately for the worst. The fairways are thin to bare with many dirt areas. Rough was more of the same. Greens were inconsistent at best. Bunkers were wet but loose. I guess because of cold temps the course was pretty empty. Played in 3 hrs and 15 mins. Didn't catch the group ahead till 14 and we were a 2some. Thats about the most positive thing I can say at this point. The course was looking so good not long ago but boy did things go south in a hurry. Looking at it, we don't see how things could improve by this summer but we can hope. A very disappointing experience over all.

Played Weds. 2-13-12. The course has come along nicely. Fairways much lusher, greens were smoother and faster than they have been for a while. Even the bunkers were in good shape. A big pat on the back to management. In my last review I pointed out that the carts did not have divot mix on them. They did this time. I am very glad to see the course improving so much. Makes me really excited to see how nice it can get by next summer. Look forward to more rounds here in the future.

Played Green Tree for my second round of the day. With the chilly temps, I was able to walk right out around noon. They charged me an e-club rate at $25, and it was well worth that. Played the front nine as a single, playing through one group on the 3rd hole and then zipping around pretty quickly. Things backed up on the 10th tee and I ended up joining with two other singles who had caught up to the crowd. Overall pace a little under 4 hours, so not bad at all.

This was my first time playing here. I know a number of people who really like this course, but have also seen a lot of "disappointing" reviews here this year in terms of conditions. I was pleasantly surprised with the conditions, especially this time of year. The tee boxes were excellent, very lush and level. The fairways and rough were a little spotty, but mostly quite green and lush. A bit too shaggy, so not much rollout on drives, but nice to hit from. A good number of patchy/thin/brown areas, too, but plenty playable. There were a lot of divots out there and my cart had no sand/divot mix bottle or holder. I did notice one of my playing partners' carts had a bottle attached, but the other guy's didn't. So it seemed only a select few carts actually had holders and bottles, which is unfortunate. With shaggy fairways and soft turf, divots were plentiful. The greens played nicely, soft on approaches and pretty smooth on putts, running at medium speeds. It did seem there were a couple different grasses growing on the greens together and they may have been top-dressed with some kind of herbicide or fertilizer, but it didn't affect playability at all. Bunkers solid.

Very enjoyable layout (great mix of hole lengths and designs with fun, hilly terrain), good service and a great deal for what I paid today. Only complaint about the layout is I thought all the par-3s were kind of blah. 14 is kind of fun with a downhill shot, but the others are all very flat, plain and rather uninspiring, in my opinion.
