I'm very new to this Great game and have only played the areas local courses, but I can say with out a doubt La Purisima is a Five Star course. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. I always look forward to play this great game at this Great course.

Played 6/23 at 10:30 am. This track was one of the best I have ever played and I have been playing golf for 16 years. The conditions were great. The course was hard but fair-good shots rewarded bad shots punished. The wind plays a huge role in the challenge of the golf course- wind on #17 played dead into my face and for a 147 yd hole downhill hit a club that goes 160 and came up 30 yrds short because the ball got caught in the wind. A bit of course knowledge goes a long way; if you are coming up for the first time see if they will pair you up with someone who is a regular it will save you strokes. Overall worth the trip and I will definately be back sooner than later.

Played for first time on Sat 6/23(twilight). Course was one of the toughest that I have played in California. Played from the tips and the 75.6 rating from the blacks is well deserved. We had about a 15-20 mph wind which played into our faces on #6 and #7 and swirled on most holes for most of the day. Three out of the four par 5's you must play smart with an iron for your second shot even if you bomb the ball off of the tee. I made birdie on #10(1 handicap) which started my back off well. I'll take my 76 and run for the hills on this course after reading all of the hype. #1 and #2 are tricky holes to start off on as #1 narrows at the green and #2 if you have not played course you do not know how much room you have to drive down to. If you are walking this course and have not played it before I would think that you should purchase a yardage/map book to know where you are going( a good workout if you are walking). #17(par 3) is one of the smallest targets/green I have ever seen. And #14 (short par 4) is a very narrow landing area even with an iron off of the tee.

As far as the course conditions were concerned, the greens felt spongy on the soft spikes and held irons pretty well and putted quick and true(very nice greens). Fairways were great on some holes and just above average on others. Alot of tee boxes need to be leveled and overall it looks like the course needed some more water on it. I felt that the $40.00 twilight price was a good bargain. Beautiful area to play golf. Will be back to play again.

Played both La Pursima and Sandpiper on a golf trip to SB on June 8 & 9... Was very intimidated by the "3rd toughest course in CA" statement on website... a great layout with some difficult greens and great condition... wind does definitely pick up in the afternoon making it more difficult... but overall not as tough as noted.. sandpiper was much more difficult... but for $77 on weekend.. worth the fee if ur up in the lompoc area.... will be back (hopefully) soon..

We drove up to Lompoc to play La Purisima.What a course!!! We got off at 7:00 am....saw some deer on #10 and #12. I went 44 on the back(played it first) with a triple bogey on the easist hole #13 and 2 doubles(ouch). Then 38 on the front, from the back (black) tees. The course is rated 143 from the tips.The rolling terrain, oak trees, lay of the course, conditions, greens, fairways tees, wildlife, hospitality, bunkers, design, and beauty of this course are among the greatest I have ever seen.(playing for 25 years!) I can hardly wait to get back!! This course is among my top 5 of all time.

Played Friday at 11 am & Saturday at 8:30 am. Beautiful course with no houses to disrupt the view. Very windy (20+ mph) both days. With the cross breeze, #17 is exceptional. Helps to know the layout as there are several blind shots into traps.

Played May 19th and 20th, super as usual, greens in terrific shape, really windy, but that happens here, staff is tremendous, a real pleasure to play...
