Played La Purisma this afternoon 4/4 from the tips(black's) with Toprank. What an awesome golf course this is. With a 75.6 rating and a 143 slope you are in for a fair and challenging test of some great golf. This golf course has it all...some holes that are target golf, plenty of holes to let the driver rip, some great scoring opportunities and some holes that can eat you up. The conditions at LP are great right now. They are having a US open qualifier here on May 6th and the course cannot be in better condition. The fairways have lush grass on them and hardly any spots where they are not filled in. The rough is up and in good shape around the fairways and greens. The greens are true and not to quick and are holding shots well. These greens putt very pure. I am sure they will have them quicker for the qualifying round later next month. The tee boxes are lush and some are un-level but for the most part they are not that bad. The sand is soft and high quality. The pace of play was excellent today..we walked the tips in 4 hours 5 minutes. The staff inside the pro-shop were really friendly. The practice area has two seperate putting/chipping greens with a grass range and short/game bunker area. . Both par 5's on the front are played as 3 shot holes and the par 5's on the back can only be reached in two with two bombs. The par 3 17th hole and the par 3 9th hole are as challenging as they come. The twilight rates at LP are a steal and worth the extra drive time. I would recommend this course to any and all golfers.

Played "La Piranah" on 27 March. The course IS in immaculate condition, with greens as absolutely perfect as you will find anywhere. As difficult as this course is, we were behind a beginner foursome that really harshed our mellow. Cutbacks have forced LP to reduce marshalls and, in this case, it proved painful. Additionally, as in the past, no on course refreshment service. Still it is a "do not miss" course.

Went up and played LP 3/13. Took advantage of their email special and payed $25 with a free cart (made the free throw on the March Madness Special). Hard to find a better use of $25...Had an all time ... Continue »

Went up and played LP 3/13. Took advantage of their email special and payed $25 with a free cart (made the free throw on the March Madness Special). Hard to find a better use of $25...Had an all time worst round, but the course was in dynamite shape. Greens were smooth and quick and barely an unrepaired ball mark to be found anywhere. Excellent overall course conditions (first hand experience with the many traps indicated they were in great condition). Excellent customer service. Just wish this track was a little closer to home, I would love to be able to call this my home course.

FANTASTIC golf course. It's always been one of my favorites. I play at SB city college so I am lucky to play here quite a bit.

Played two weeks ago and the greens were slower than usuall, but still smooth as a pool table. There is no weak aspects to this golf course. As a scratch golfer, I have my hands full from the tips. It's a quality and beautiful test of golf.

Teed off mid-morning Jan 18. My first round here in a long, long time, and the course and ambience did not disappoint. It was an unusual day here in that it was fairly windless (the wind usually howls here), and because the location is a little remote, the facility gives off a resort/vacation feel - basically, the opposite of a Rancho Park of Griffith Park experience. The course itself was in very, very shape. Tee boxes, bunkers and greens all were superior. The fairways were fine too - the only thing to watch out for is some inconsistency in the quality of lies. Some are tight, some are very lush. The property has a lot of trees, and because of this, some areas of the course stay extra moist due to the shade. It's not a complaint; just an observation, and if you're a focused golfer, you know how to adjust to the conditions. This is one of the toughest layouts in the state, and also one of the prettiest. This is a superior course, but windy and remote.

This is a Great golf course. If you haven't play this one you are missing a treat. the course is always in great shape and the staff is fantastic.

Have to agree with a few other recent posts the course was adequate, mostly due to the fairway conditions, bare spots and when not bare constantly determining if the ball was in casual water. Greens on the other hand were perfect very fast and true and the tee boxes matched up as well. The weather was also perfect no wind 84 degrees played in late October. I would play the couse again it is a challenge.

Ya know, I gotta jump down a couple of reviews and agree with Melnick, it just wasn't quite up to snuff. Although the layout is challenging, using all your clubs, yada-yada-yada, the conditions were far from great ... more like adequate. I love the course and will play here again, but it could use a bit more attention to get me to share in some of the accolades I've read (and previously written). Maybe I'll wait until later in the Fall when I'm up this way again and give it another chance.
