Played 5-9 first out as a single. Overall tee boxes in good shape a couple of the three pars could use some leveling. Fairways lush with good lies only bad spot on hole two up towards green on right side of lake. rough is killer here right now 3-5 inches and thick very hard to get it close around greens. greens are in great shape firm and rolling true a little slower then normal they are getting them ready for us open qualifier on 5-17.sand traps have heavy thick sand which lets you take a real good swing at it.great tough course they do a great job of keeping this course in good shape year round.

Went to Central Coast this weekend for a quick golf trip. We played 3 courses. This was course #1. We played on SAT, 5/5. Despite a very remote location with nothing around other than vineyards and lots of land, this is a fantastic course.

Customer service was perfect! Course was in fantastic shape. The rough is very penal right now! If you miss the fairway, you are lucky to advance any balls. Greens were rock hard and fast running around 10. Fairways and bunkers were in great shape. Overall, the course is just really hard. Awkward lies, challenging forced carries and blind tee shots make this a truly tough test!

A friend of mine made the drive this past Friday (3/2/12) and played. If you have never been there, it's definitely worth testing out. This is a very unique and challenging layout. The elevation changes combined with the natural and man-made hazards make this a true test. Unfortunately, the tee boxes were in very poor condition, and there are literally no paved cart paths. The various undulations and tiers on the greens will certainly challenge your short game, and require many approach shots to be played on the proper level to avoid 3+ putting. Currently, the greens are in fair to good condition, and were rolling at about an 8-9 the day we played.

Conclusion: The course is currently in moderate to good condition, and it is worth trying if you haven't played it before. I'd rate it a 6.5-7 out of 10.

Played Nov 1 2011, course is in the middle of no where and dealt with a little fog, but walked on and got off right away with a couple of other guys. Really nice course with difficult layout from the TIPS. Conditions for the track were immaculate, greens were rolling and very quick once things warmed up. Other than grass clippings in the rough everywhere, but hey I'll take that at as the first ones off the tee in the morning. My only fear is this course doesn't get enough play and won't be around in a few years. Tough place to get to but well worth the trek.

Played mid-morning Dec 17. I have never seen La Purisima in such good shape. The greens were fantastic; smooth and fast. The fairways were tight, and the rough uniform. This is a huge piece of property, and that makes it tough to keep groomed. But come out now, because the conditions are top notch. If you have never played here, make sure you make a note of the pin position. Most greens on this course are small, and it's critical you put the ball in the correct position...or else your short game is going to get a severe test.

played 11-25 with longball23. course is in really nice shape. teed of at 10:30 for almost a five hour round. course much more crowded then normal. typical purisima weather 65 with a 15 mph wind. tee boxes where level and lush. fairways where close to perfect ball sitting up real nice.rough had been cut back to around 1-2 inches but very thick. sand trap good hard packed sand. greens smooth and pure some of the best you'll play on. enjoyable very tough course rated 33 toughest in the u.s.

Out for a black friday round this morning 11/25 10:30am tee time with RGM2525. Very busy day at La P...never seen so many golfers on this track as usually you have 4-5 holes where you see nobody. Conditions were very good today. Fairways were lusher than the last time I played here which was in the summer. Very good lies in the fairways. The greens were running around a 10 stimp(11 listed on pro-shop board) and were holding shots very nicely. They rolled pure and you did not want to be above the hole on certain greens. Very little to no ball mark damage and a real treat to putt on. Tee boxes were level and lush for the most part. Was not in any sand bunkers but they looked to be in at least good shape. Wind was a big factor today like it always is. Pro-shop staff very friendly and a nice chipping green and putting green that is large. I played for the member rate walking which was a steal. From the blue or black tees in the afternoon this course will really test you... be prepared to have uphill, downhill and sidehill stances...you will use every club in the bag here and will need to bomb it on some holes and be very precise on others....wish I lived closer so I could call it my home course....good job La P staff at this time.....

Played first out and alone at 6:50AM on Saturday, 10/8/11, on my way up to the GK event at Monarch Dunes. Thanks to the shop for getting me out so I could make it to Nipomo. Lack of GPS or yardage book, and few marked sprinklers, make this a brutal course to play if you don't have knowledgeable playing partners or good familiarity with the course - I played here only once more than 5 years ago. How far are those fairway bunkers? What's the correct line off this tee? LP is difficult enough with those complications. Rising sun right in your face on half of the first twelve holes didn't help either.

At this early time the course was soaking wet from recent rains and morning condensation. Greens had been cut, and even when damp were very fast. Greens were very firm, held shots, and rolled great - easily the best feature of the course. Fairways were tight but lies were good. Hard to find a lie here that isn't uneven. Rough was shaggy, deep, and wet. Balls go in and just disappear, so keep it on the short stuff. Sand was good in the 2 bunkers I was in, although wet and somewhat compacted. Played white tees and found many of them not level, some severely so. Front nine more open, back nine gets tighter as you go along. Very scenic, very difficult.

Course is up for sale, so hope it sells and doesn't close. An isolated gem that hopefully will survive. Just great golf in a beautiful setting. Very good breakfast burrito, but grill not open early. Recommended.

Played here on 10/7/11. The course is in great condition right now. Check their website for specials. We played for $49 including cart. Greens are always the highlight here: smooth and somewhat fast with very few (if any) ball marks. The fairways and rough were lush, with the exception of some very slightly browned grass in 10 and 18. Sand was in good condition in most bunkers. Driving your cart in the rough can be a jarring experience due to the many gopher holes, so go slow and be careful when looking for errant tee shots. Many holes offer great views of the surrounding oak woodlands.
