I play this course at least 3 times a week. It is in my opinion the best coure in the area. This course is never in bad condition, the worst I had ever seen it in was during re seeding and thats a good reason. The course is challenging but not unfair. I use every club in my bag no matter what tees i play from. I usually play from the blues but i have played this course from the golds, whites and blacks too. Best course in the area!!

Today was my second time and I brought along three friends. The condition, once again, was simply excellent from tee to green. I don't understand the knocks on the design. If you want predictable, easy driver - seven iron - two putt stuff...go to Rustic Canyons or Sterling Hills or any of the dime a dozen courses. Hole three is a killer risk reward par 4 (number 1 handicap) Play safe, hit it center left 225-240 and you will probably get 5...cut the corner and boom it (why else do we spend $300+ for drivers) and put for 3. Neat. 17 has a elevated tee dropping 90 yards to a ironing board size green. Think of Pebble Beach and maybe you will enjoy it more. The course is Up..Down...never level but always fair. Two of my friends loved the challenge and the chance to use clubs and try shots hardly used elsewhere and want to go back next week. The other guy is not a happy camper. Of course he shot 88 and lost 2 balls. A great test of your shot making ability.

played this course for the second time ever (both in the last week). while the playing surfaces are in good shape (admittedly, the greens were not as good this last time), the design of the course leaves me a bit cold. there are two holes that don't make any sense. Numbers 3 and 17 are just mistakes. a blind drive to a landing area so impossibly narrow that if you miss left you get a free drop? that's just goofy. and 17, well, the problems have been discussed here before. i've played great short downhill par threes. i've played number 7 at pebble. the 17 green here is a farse. it's clear that they have to keep it a little shaggy just to make it playable. and the mounding on the right side is so severe that a ball can be missed right and then kick left and off the green. i could go on, but if you've played here you know what i'm talking about. the biggest problem i have with tierra is the green sites. there are some false fronts and backs to greens that are comically sloped. and the mounding around the greens is often poorly thought out. in many places the only way to get the ball in the vicinity of the hole is to bump the ball into the up-slope and then hope that it trundles down the other side. i don't mind this shot in theory (i play it a rustic a lot). however, when the mound is clearly man-made and covered in rough and has sprinkle heads placed on the top of it, it lacks charm and playability.

i wish architects would let the land do the talking and not the bulldozer.

in terms of design, i rank the moorpark courses: rustic, sky at lost canyons, moorpark cc, shadow at lost canyons, and then tierra.

Another up-and-down canyon course -- a la Moorpark CC and Lost Canyons. Superb condition. Best greens in the area. Friendly staff.

This was my first time playing Tierra Rejada and it was one of the most unique courses I have ever played. I believe that I used every club in my bag, as the course required many different shots. The views and design ingenuity are phenomenal. Addiitionally, the course is in immaculate shape. In many places there fire line comes right up to the rough or tee boxes, but amazingly none of them are damaged. It appears that the closure of this course for the past week has really put it into tip top shape.

FYI – Tierra Rejada was SURVIVED the firestorms. Some of the surrounding hill sides were scorched but the golf holes were virtually untouched with exception to minor damage to a few tee boxes. A clean... Continue »

Fun course. Got stuck behind some real slow players who allowed at least 2 holes to open in front of them, so the round took a total of 5 hours. overseeding on the front nine didnt really affect play too much but players need to realize that they need to fix their divots.

This is my home course and I never get tired of playing this track. Even with the overseeding it is still playing great. The greens are as true as any greens that I've played. The staff is extremely friendly and will bend over backwards to make your experience worth it.
