For a 6000 yard track the layout is enjoyable. I expected the kukuya fairways to be thin in spots but the greens are in the worst condition I have seen at La Mirada. There are so many very thin spots on the greens its not much better than putting on aerated greens. Hopefully aerating the greens at the end of September will help. For the money the course is usually worth playing.

8/24/08 walk on as single ,short wait about 5-10 min. teed off at 7:05 ended at 1:45, made for a long day. fairways were ok not great really thin in spots. rough was about the same, could use some work. greens were poor at best fungus through out ,divet damage was sever on all 18 greens .Most were wet and over watered. Getting out was great but all in all this course needs some work.

Played on Tues 7/15 7:30 tee time. Course is in good condition, fairways had good roll, some brown spots but nothing drastic. The greens rolled good, also some small brown spots. Weber's post said he played on Tues also and took him 6hrs, we played in 4 1/2hrs, with a slow 5some in front of us, and us also as a 5some. There were a lot of players waiting to tee off on #1 as we finished #9, and also when we finished up.

I enjoy playing this course because it's a fun little track and you can put up some low numbers here, but still enjoy the layout because it is interesting. My biggest complaint is how long it takes to play this course. Almost 6 hours is was too long for a course which has no hazards, or other areas in which people would lose balls, worry about forced carries, etc. About once a year is about my limit here, so I guess I'll be back in 09?

Played for the first time today, teed off at 745 finished about 1245, about 5 hours. The course is not very difficult, good for beginners. The fairways are very thin, ( you are better off in the rough ). The greens were decent but ran very slow. The sand was a joke, it was literally mud. If you live in the area play Westridge, or Black Gold if you want a good golf course. This course could be better but it needs some work. Definitely could use some water. Oh yea another thing is there were lawn mowers, grass blowers, or just loud ass carts going off all over the course, not good for golf.

Lets start by saying today was hot. I teed off at 1 PM. I finished the front nine at 4 45 PM. Finished the 18th by 7 25 PM. This is the slowest course I have ever been on. I thought Lakewood was slow, but this was ridiculous. Many hackers out on the course today.
The course: was decent, not very challenging except for the fact that you get no rhythm. You wait on the tee for about 20 minutes, 20 minutes on the fairway, then you get to wait some more on the next tee box. American Golf needs to do something about the pace.
I saw the marshal harassing a couple who were beginners, but holding no one back behind us, but did nothing about the people holding everyone up in front of us. This course is now blackballed. i will never play here again even if I live only 5 minutes away from it.

Played 5/11,Sunday morning. Greens still bumpy from last month aeration. They should be in good condition in few more weeks. Fairways were bare and hard. Bunker sands were wet and hard. Good course for beginners. Hole #16(Par 5 ) narrow fairways and dogleg to the left and very high uphill green is challenging and fun.

Well worth the greens fee. For almost a buck a hole - it would be a steal at twice the price.

greens are currently being aerated, at least half the greens. Half is aerated, the other half(where the pin is) not aerated. I rather them just aerate the whole green. It makes the greens more consistent. Rounds at this course usually takes 6 hours plus, but today i got lucky, only took 4 1/2 hours.

03/30/08 - Greens as poor as any I can recall without punching & sanding, bunkers were well kept, the rest of the course could use work. Lots of rounds played here but not much of an excuse for poor up-keep.

Played Sunday March 14. Had an 11:15 tee time and teed off at 11:30. Our foursome got around in 4.5 hours. Everyone kept moving at a nice pace and we had no long delays. Course in good shape and greens were a little fast. This was a fun track to play and for $42 on a weekend including cart it is a great price. I'll definitely be back.
ps - not a bird in sight as complained about by previous poster.

Played Friday, march 14th. I live within a few miles of the course but I rarely play it because it is very busy. Arrived at 6:30 and teed off at 7:40 (good for La Mirada on a Friday). I even finished in 4.5 hours. I can't remember the last time I played this course in under 5 hours. What this course lacks in length it makes up for it with some side hill lies and small greens. The greens are a little bumpy, the fairways, bunkers, and tee boxes are good. The rough is not even though out the course. Some areas are thin, some are average length, and few spots are clumpy and over grown. The rough aside the course is in good shape considering the large number of rounds played on it. La Mirada is a fun course to play and the green fees make it well worth it.

WOW, where do I start, played on Friday 03-14-08, with a scheduled t-time of 2:20pm, rolled in at 1:35 p.m. hoping to get on early, much to my disgust, to see about 10 people waiting around the announcer area, single/ double players walking the course. times were backed up, the lack of electric golf carts. we would see groups go out, part of the group in carts, others walking, making the wait that much longer, when we finally were up on the tee box, we had to wait about 20 minutes, following our t-shots , until a cart was ready for every one in our group.
totally overbooked, frustration, the practice green looked like a patch of ground sprinkled with bird seed, and a million birds milling around the space. hope to never return to the location,,,nuf said

Played here 1/31, we had a 12:45pm tee time, checked in at 12:15am and the starter said they were 20 minutes behind. I did not appreciate that, while being behind, they were adding single walk-ons to foursomes. While waiting for our group to be called, I can see five-somes all over the course and all walking!! We got all 18 holes in but barely. At least we got twighlight rate when we teed off. Good service for us as far as that was concerned.

As far as conditions, greens were very green and firm, not too fast. Fairways were not as dry as I thought they would be for January. Tee boxes were ok.

Will play again here this year as long as I know what to expect. At $27.75 for twightlight w/cart is well worth it here compared to driving far and paying more for less crowdedness.

Cheers

For an 1130 am teetime, there were several fivesomes on the course, which slowed down play in the front 9. Hole 9 had 3 groups waiting at all times. Back 9 was faster. It was my first time playing the course and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of hills on the course. It gave me lots of practice on sloped lies. The sand was in good shape. The recent rains have greened up the course rather nicely. You need to plan 6 hours to play this course - and that's midweek at noon! Imagine what it would be like on the weekends or twilight!

played this course saturday...our tee time was for 1:15, but we didn't tee off until past 1:30...there were still two groups behind time-wise...and play was slow...we only got to 15, and that was only after the group ahead of us disappeared for the back nine

greens were green, but bumpy...maybe not super bumpy, but just enough to drive you crazy...they need to roll the greens more often...

fairways are somewhere between decent and ok...same with tee boxes

a suggestion...find another course in the area on weekends...pace of play is slow, and the tee times get backed up...this happens quite often here, esp on weekends...it seems the pro shop favors certain groups of players and gives them preferential treatment when it comes to teeing off

Played on the weekend....what a disaster...they overbooked since they had some computer problems so we were about 45min late teeing off. So many 5somes and so slow play. They need to have a marshall going around and pushing the slow groups. The Group ahead of us were almost 2 holes behind on the back 9! Greens need to be rolled and have been much better in the past. I do not think I will return on the weekends.

Played on 11/11, the course is in overall good condition. White tee boxes are in good condition, fairways are nice w/ little divots, & the greens were smooth. The only problem w/ this course right now is the pace of play; it's too slow, expect a 6 hr round.

I have always loved this course for it's varied terrain and fair play. However like many other courses during this time of the year. The greens were aerated a few weeks ago and are bumpy now and some areas of some greens are just in need of some repair. All of the tee boxes have been scalped and overseeded....so all tee boxes are moved forward to even in front of the red tee. This makes for a short course! Wait a few weeks and it should all be better. This course usually is very nicely maintained for a Public course. I will be back!!

Over the past 3 months I have been playing through all the County Courses as well as some of the private ones. I usually play the LA Munis. Yesterday I played La Mirada as a walk on single. I got on immediately (8:30 am) and thanks to the uncrowded day finished at 12:30 which I thought was wonderful. In fact of all the County Courses I have played this is the best so far. I would put Santa Anita second and Lakewood third. La Mirada was in excellent condition although there were quite a few unfixed divots on the relatively small greens. There is a lot of variety in the holes and some, like the par-5 16th, are quite memorable. There are 6 par-3's that vary in distance and elevation and 4 par-5's. I found the fairways to be the most narrow I have seen anywhere and due to the thickness of the grass there is not much roll. There are no freeways around so the course is pleasantly quiet. The trees are diverse and mature providing a lot of shade. In my opinion this is a hidden gem and a bargain that will become a part of my regular rotation.

Pleasantly surprised!!

This was only my second time at La Mirada. My first experience was perhaps sixteen years ago. I almost didn't remember the fact that I had been there before, until half way through the round it finally dawned on me that I had played a junior tournament there as a twelve year old.

Everything was in pretty good shape.

I played the course from the tips, which I usually do, and because I tee off from where most others golfers don't, I see less divot damage than most other reviewers might report here on GK, but on the whole I believe the tee boxes were in great shape and for the most part were level. The course is well marked, with the exception of a few tee signs that are damaged.

The grass in the rough on this golf course is.......I don't know what you call it, Kikuyu or Bermuda. It does not allow for any roll. There is a premium placed on hitting the narrow fairways which, I think, consist of the same grass mown down to a tight surface.

The well defined fairways appear to be and are indeed tightly mowed, and their appearance would lead one to believe that much roll could be afforded by the smooth surface. However, the same roll-restricting effect on balls that land in the rough, is found on even a well struck shot in the fairway. Fortunately, the underlying earth is firm and compact enough to provide enough bounce to propel the ball forward at least more than a trivial amount.

This is what protects this rather short layout from being a bombers paradise. In addition, the trees at this course are large and well grown. Players that find themselves in them will surely have fits if they are not proficient at escaping from nearly impossible positions, given that many of the holes follow the canyons which bisect the flowing hills which this layout intertwines and surrounds, providing plenty of uneven lies.

I found the greens to be a bit different than the rest of the course. The texture is smooth. The grass is kinda weird. It almost looks fake in spots. I think they are bent greens but I am not an expert at grass classifications. There is plenty of ball mark damage left by players on the course. I witnessed several rude players of Asian decent walk right by their ball marks without fixing them. Of course, I took the liberty of doing it myself all day, but I didn't mind since the round was taking almost 6 hours anyway. For the most part the greens roll very true and are about 9.0 at most on the stimp meter. I made alot of putts and was very pleased with the conditions.

I eagled the Par 5 7th hole. My drive was 310 up the hill, and my 2-iron from 210 yards, uphill, sent my ball within 10 feet from the hole. The putt was difficult and hard breaking, but I made it. It was the highlight of the day on a round of 70, even par.

Great all-beef hot dogs on the grill at the turn. They will grill onions for you if you want, too. Good Service. Will be back....

Played Tues 9/4, 7AM tee time, started at 7:30. As usual there was a backup at the counter with some people walking directly up and not waiting in line, preferential treatment? don't know. Three groups ahead of us were real slow, group ahead of us was two women - two men, women from red tees, men from blues. That in itself was not the problem, women were maybe high 20-low 30 handicaps, men were the same. Older man was coaching the younger one on each and every shot. No marshal to complain to, until late in the round.

The course was in decent shape with the exception of the greens, 3 of the 18 greens were without ball marks, the rest were so pock marked that after the first two I only fixed my own, it was futile to attempt the rest, old marks and fresh ones from the groups ahead. Never did see them bend down to fix any. A normal 4.5 hr round for this course turned into almost 5.5, won't be back here for quite a while. Give it a 4 on the scale.

Love this course...nice layout. Short but some holes very challenging. Most of the greens were in great shape...however not really breaking true. Played today 4th of July and surprisingly nice pace of play, however they were so far behind in getting your tee times out....we were almost 1hr late before teeing off!!!

It's been two months since I last played here and it has made a difference, played on Monday 6/11. Everything is green and in good shape. The tee boxes were lush, some had not been cut yet, not too many divots except on all the par 3's, usual for most courses. The fairways were lush, not too many divots, most were sanded, but some were not, ball rolled well. Greens were lush, not many ball marks, and the ball rolled true, even though I misread some of them. Started off at 7:30 AM, 4 hr 15 min round, not too bad, could have been faster but no one was behind, did not have to wait too long for hitting shots. Would rate it a 6.

Greens are very nice, considering this is LaMirada and not Robinson Ranch. Actually the entire course was in very good condition. A fun course to play and not as easy as the short yardage would imply. My only complaint is how long it takes to get around this track, given the absence of length, hazards, etc, but when every group is a fivesome, I guess it would be unrealistic to expect different.

Made reservation, checked GK, darn! aeration. Oh Well! my bad. Course was in OK shape. Tee boxes were not too bad, some had divots but not many. The fairways were thin and brown in spots, and green and lush in others. Looks like they are trying to maintain a decent carpet on the landing zone only, it was nice and green about 170 yds from tee to the green. Some had divots others did not. The greens were 3 types today: green lush and med fast, punched and sanded, and punched only. some had a few ball marks but were not real bad. Pace was good, finished in 4 hrs. Overall not too bad, have seen better and worse conditions here. $21.50 sr rate to walk, easy walking course with some hills, $12 for cart per person.

The course was in great condition, considering it's the busiest course in LA County. Tee boxes were in decent shape, though some were not level. Greens were soft and fast, even though they were spongy. I was surpirsed an how little ball marks were unrepaired. Not sure if its the maintenance staff or the players. Fairways were good, though some areas were very wet and muddy. Finished in 4.5 hours on Saturday, which was a huge surprise since the last time I played it took us 6 hours on a Wednesday.

Well lets see i played 11/19...i got at the course around 6:30 a.m. and got on the waiting list and tee'd off at 7:15 which wasnt bad at all. Since im a junior i pay not very much for a weekend rate. The course was in probably the best shape i have played it. Greens were rolling realy nice. But the only bad thing about the course today was that in the rough there were a lot of barespots and all the wetness of the fairways which killed me out there but you can say my score turned out alright. If you love hilly short par 70 course this is a good course. jus dont walk it you will get tired which i figured out today. And also everyone says it takes forever to play on weekends..i started at 7:15 and ended at 12:00 which is really good.

Played Nov 3rd 12pm tee time. this was my 1st time playing there and had a lot of fun.

starting off with the tee boxes...they were very nice...level and very well taken care of.

the fairways were very nice with no noticable bare spots.

the sand and rough were just as well taken care of

we started right on time at 12 and finished about 5:15. we easily would have finished earlier but 2 foursomes of old folk were slow and walking this extreemly hilly course. we finished as the sun was basicallly gone. but from what i have heard about this course, be prepared for a slow round. other than that, it was a great golf experience. ill definitely be coming back soon

Played today, August 3, 2006 at 2 p.m. Boy, have my buds from KTown taken over this course. You could have taken a picture and it could have passed for Lake Hills Country Club in Yongin-City. In all, it was a good day to play. The course rates about a 6 overall. Pace of play was not too bad. The greens were really slow and bumpy. The tee boxes were kinda long but the fairways were actually pretty decent.

For a muni course in LA County, it was what you'd expect, nothing special. You don't really need a driver on this course as it is pretty short. Your 3wood or 2iron should be all you need on the longer holes.

I played with this young cat from La Serna high school named Ryan. He is an up and coming 10th grader who just crushes the ball. Look out for this guy in your local paper who is trained by the legendary Coach Mahoney. The two other guys were pretty cool to play with as well.

No attitude by the golfers at this course unlike other courses nearby. Nothing like your OC courses with the fake bake tan guys who swear they run the place. When in reality, they are renters from Huntington who just moved there from Chino. Later in the day, I saw more and more junior golfers out there as they only pay $5 green fees to play.

Overall, a great morning at the office and an even better day on the course. Just don't tell my boss where I was when I was ignoring his calls from 2-7 p.m.

Fivesomes! Why? Why? Why? I think I saw one foursome in front of our group, (oh, my group was a... fivesome!) the foursome consisted of two, slow older men who felt like this was their course, and a younger man with his 8 yr old kid. Besides that, fivesomes! If this course is going to charge what it does for twilight with cart ($31), then it would be nice if they didn't allow fivesomes. I could have finished this course (tee'd off at 4:14pm) but the fivesomes made it impossible since there was a wait either on the tee box or on the fairway. I HATE FIVESOMES, it only slows the pace and your tempo.

Got out a little ahead of our tee time and had a nice pace of play. Finished in a little over 4 hrs....
The course overall was in nice shape....green fairways and some of the rough was thick. Greens were thick and green and somewhat bumpy. I think if it gets cut this week and rolled, it would be awesome. I reallly enjoy this course for it's varied terrain and very reachable greens in regulation...it is a Par 70 course. This is usually a busy course, sometimes like today you can get quick 4 hr round in and other times it can take 5 1/2 -6 hrs. It doesn't matter if it is a weekday or weekend.

PLAYED 5/11 TEE TIME WAS 7:15. GOT OUT AT 7:45. THE STATERS PUT OUT 3 GROUPS OF MEN AND WOMEN FROM THE WAITING LIST AND SCREWED US. NO ONE HAD THE KEYS FOR THE BALL MACHINE SO THE RANGE WAS CLOSED. HOW STUPID IS THAT. ANYWAY THE COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE FROM TEE BOXES TO GREENS AND SAND TRAPS. GET OUT EARLY OR YOU WILL HAVE A 5+ ROUND.

Played in tournament saturday 4/22/06 at 12;30 without delay.Originally scheduled the tournament at 4/15/06 but one of our member's son had tragedy so we solicited to postpone one week.General manager listened to us kindly & humanly accepting the reschedule. So we appreciate it very much. Now the greens are heavily aerated & sanded .All others conditions are fairly good.

Anyone could misestimate La mirada due to heavy scheduled tee times causing slow pace of play & being municipal golf course maneged by american golf as I misestimate. But each time I play here just talking about the course conditions almost always give surprise.Good looking greens well-receptive,medium-fast roll & few ball marks.Fairways not very lush but at least good green colour not dormant.Even pace of play was good today(due to morning's rain ?) We decided to organize april's tournament here and reserved .

played a 'low level/fraternity' tournament here....fairways were nice, layout somewhat challenging w/ all elevation changes...greens and approaches to greens were atrocious....if you play here remember that "every single putt from anywhere doesn't break" and good luck chipping from anwhere just off the greens...the kikuyu grass/or hardpan is brutal.
pretty much everyone eventually succumbed to just putting anything within 5 yards of the green......was ok for the money but 'advertised' rating as one of best in LA County is not close...probably would not ever go back unless it was same sort of "social" event where golf was secondary

First time playing this course since I moved to town a few months ago. Got out on 11/25 am. Greens are surprisingly fast for a muni, even when damp from the dew/fog. When things dried out on the back nine, they were even faster. Fairways were in fair to good shape, with a few overly wet spots, real drive killers. Overall, in very good shape, under 5 hrs on a holiday with plenty of fivesomes. Well worth the green fees.

Played on 10/28 and found the course to be in excellent shape. Can tell the management is working hard on the playing conditions.
Wish they could do as much work on the starters. Cannot find any positive reason why they would allow a fivesome to walk this course, and yet it continuues to happen here. Wound up finishing in 5:15 and 2 holes behind because of the five ahead of us.
Starters still have no clue how to treat walk-on players, accurate time estimates would be a good start. I live 5 minutes from this course, but will travel 1 hour so I don't have to deal with these starters.

one of my all time favorite local spots to catch a "quick" 18. well i've been playing here for years and i have seen the transformation of the golf course from a local favorite, to a local dump.
i know this forum is supposed to help out other fellow golfers, but BEAWARE. LA MIRADA needs to change their ways if they want to stay open.

STAFF: the worse i have ever seen. i am korean i understand how most are frustrated with us, but the employees at la mirada is terrible. i don't believe any employee should argue with customers. when a tee time is set for 2pm, and at 245pm the starter tells us we are 3rd up.....wow unbelievable. they didn't even let us get a 3pm twilight discount for waiting an HOUR!!! they give people attitude...last time i checked we who pay to play are paying for their paychecks.
COURSE: great, except for the maintainance. i love the design and layout. i wish they would upkeep the greens more.

i feel la mirada is going down the hole. they need to shape up before it turns into one big doggie park. i hope if someone at la mirada reads this....he/she will see the damage that they are doing to the course....

Course was in very nice condition. Given the price and amount of play, all things considered, no complaints as to conditioning. Decent pace of play when you consider it was mid day! Only play here about once a year or so. Always fun to play here because it "puffs up" the ego. Nice change of pace from the "tough tracks"

I haven't played here for some time and I realized why. There are no clear markers for distance and unless you had gps, sometimes you are just plainly guessing. How much effort does it take to just place few stakes at the side of the fairway? It was such an effort just to find the distance markers, I couldn't concentrate on my game. On top of that, there are so many five-somes that the game just drags on ...and on...

Played last Friday-all that were out there were fivesomes. On one tee box 4 groups backed up. People don't wave on on the par 3's-even though there are signs at each green. Marshalls-what are those.

Responding to xxx week on starting times. I also have the same problem. I have gotten thru the pro shop by 6:01, 7 days advance and have been given as late as 11:00. I always ask if there is a tournament and usually it is no. The starter will not explain why I have such a late starting time when getting thru within 1 or 2 minutes. Obviously, they have buddies that are getting the good starting times. When is someone in management going to do something about this.

There seems to be a problem about getting a tee time on the phone one week in advance. I got through at 6:01 on Friday May 27th and was given a 10:55 tee time for Friday June 3rd. I was told the day before there was a small tournament at 10:37. How could 13 tee times be given within one minute?

Course is in great shape. However,it shouldn't take 6 hours to play this course. The 2 guys I was paired up with couldn't believe it either.I have never seen it back up where it was backing up.....guys waiting on par 4's til the group ahead was putting before teeing off. And the marshalls[ what a joke ] were non-existant ,and the 1 we did see just drove by and waved.
If you have a desire to spend all day playing JUST 18 ,then this is the place. Perhaps Jack Nicklaus was right...something has to be done to the ball ,if ordinary guys think they can drive every par 4 on a course. If they can hit it 340-390 like they think they can, what the heck are they doing playing here ??? Plop down the $3500 and go toQ-school and get out there on the tour and make some real $$$$$. Stop clogging up the local courses.
Oh yeah, both my playing partners said this would be the LAST time they EVER play this course.I have already given up trying to get on the weekends.....7+ hrs for a round. It's too bad because the course is fun to play and is in great shape.I just have no answer to why it is taking so long to play a course that isn't very long or hard....just golfer error and arrogance I guess.Maybe guys think "I paid $30,so I need to be out here for 6 hrs...that's $5 an hour "..a bargain huh ?

course is in decent conditions. Took 6 hours to finish a around on saturday. I understand that the course allow fivesomes, but the course is short in distance and does not have many hazards. Marshalls did nothing to improve the pace. Group in front of me were a hole and a half behind. If your not good enough to play within 5 hours, go to the range!!!! Or at least get some common courtesy to play at a faster pace. Play ready golf!!! This isnt the pga. If it was, everybody playing slow would be penalize and kicked off.

Played LMGC November 20th. Course was in good shape and the greens were nice, not very fast, but rolled true.

We started at 10am and finished in 5 and a half hours barely! The group ahead of us had never heard of ready golf, had a hacker that refused to pick up his ball and another that felt it was his duty give the others a lesson on each tee box. The range is the place for practice not the course! I didn't see a marshall all day either.

The greens were in excellent shape.....well groomed after being aerated more than a month ago. The fairways are also in good shape. Suprisingly the ground and greens were pretty hard so if you can keep in straight and in the fairway, you will get a lot of bounce and roll. Only overseeding I saw was on a few tee boxes. Pretty slow round, especially the front 9...had to wait on every hole and finally opened up on the back 9. Took about 5 hrs to finish! One of my favorite LA County courses.......however need to have marshalls out on the course to speed up the play. Did not see any marshalls today or the last time I played here a few months ago.

Played before the rains...greens were coming along very nicely after the aeration. The fairways were mowed way down and you got a lot of roll. With all this rain I'm sure that will change, they need to do something about the sand though....still way too hard.A good deal for the $'s. And a note....If you can't drive your tee shot 250 yards, what makes you think you can hit your next shot over 300 ???There is NO EXCUSE for someone to wait until the group in front of them clears the green on a 520 yd par 5,when their tee shot is more than 300 yards from the green !...like they are going to fly 1 on from there. If you think you can hit your 3 wood over 300,then why didn't you TEE OFF WITH IT ? Use your head. Besides you can always yell "FORE" if you happen to hit the shot of your life.

This is a correction on my last feedback. I was able to get in at 6:00 a.m. for a starting time at 9:00 a.m. and got 10:22. As I stated before there was no tournament and I had to be the first to call in so at the latest my tee time should have been well before 9:30. I hope that someone with authority will see this and do away with the starters buddies being signed up first.

Course needs a lot of work. Also the starters must have buddies that they sign up before the public. I got in at 9.:00 on a Friday and got a 10:22 starting time. I asked if there was a tournament and he said no. They take one on the phone and 2 at the window. I should have been the first phone call. I checked their clock against mine and they are the same. I have no problem with this system but let it be fair for everyone.

Yep there are limbs all over the place....AROUND EVERY TREE in fact !!!Fairways were thin and needed watering ( it has been super hot here though,I live just up the street ).Tee boxes were hammered, greens were bumpy ( I can live with some bumps but 1 putt I had hopped up and literally stopped like I had putted into a tree ),sand traps are a joke, fairways are kinda thin and dry = lots of roll.... An Asian 4-some who thought they could drive a 500+ yard par 5 and made 3 groups back up behind them...guys,you can't hit it that far !!! and if you did I would Pay for you to go to PGA Qualifying school !! Other than that it was great ! As soon as they pick up the limbs and water a little bit ,it will be in OK shape.

The tree trimmers left cut knee-high piles of branches all over the course including fairways, roughs, and cart paths. The sand was close to being as hard as wet concrete mix. The only reasonably playable part of the course yesterday was the greens.

Sandtraps are dirt. Cannot blast out. The fairways need watering as they were thin in a lot of areas and not a lot of green grass. Usually course is in very good condition. Played 6 weeks ago and it was in a lot better shape. I pay senior rates so I will play there because of the price.

When I booked my tee time, I intentionally made it 30 min earlier than I wanted, because I knew I would be able to then tee off "on time". Which is exactly what always happens here. The course was typical "county:, nothing great, but in decent shape, very playable. Always fun to play this course as a departure from the high-end, more difficult courses becoming too much the norm nowdays.

Played 5/28 ..greens kinda bumpy ,but super soft. Not too many ball marks, sand traps need some help(especially the greenside bunker on # 2 WOW can we say HARD !!!).Fairways were OK some brown spots but rolling nice.It has been overcast almost every day this past week ,so I'm sure that has helped keep the greens soft.If you play anywhere in the afternoon, almost every course's greens will be bumpy( there's always an exception though). For the $'s this course is great. 1 word though....the "Super Twilight" fee of $11,doesn't start now until 6:00 P.M so expect to pay $15.50 until 6.Thanks LA county.1 whole hour of play...THANKS.

Wow, course is in great shape! Greens are smooth and fast, a little firm. Fairways are in great shape. Only problem, way to slow. Second group out, and waited on every tee. Hey, 22 handicappers, get to the whites where you belong, go to your ball and hit it. You don't need to all walk to one ball at a time. If you tee of at 6:00, you should be done no later than 9:30.

We played LM in the rain so the pace of play was faster than average for this course. LM gets a lot of play being the only Municipal Golf Course for miles but the greens were in good shape although on the slow side. I did not visit every bunker but the ones I did had real sand. The fairways for winter were greener than Rio Hondo's. Tee boxes were good althoug a couple need leveling. At $28 bucks for walking, I say it's worth the money.

could be alot better with a little work. greens bumpy, and sand traps are full of dirt not sand.

This is a short, (6000yards) but very fun course that is crowded every single day. The small greens demand good iron shots, especially the longer par 3's. There are 6 par 3's on this course. What makes this course so fun is that no two holes are alike. If you hit a well placed 275 yard drive on no. 16 you have a great shot at an eagle with a 8 or 9 iron into the green. If you are a little left or right, this hole quickly becomes a 3 shot par 5 due to the hills. The greens are in good shape despite all the foot traffic. I saw lots of divots in the fairways and tees. You can play this course over and over and never get bored.

Greens are terrible. They have roughed the area 18" around the greens which make it impossible to putt when you are off of the greens and very hard to chip as the grass sticks up and is sparce. In a month the greens should be back to normal and it will again be a good place to golf.

Give the course a couple of weeks,I believe they are about to aerate the greens.Almost all of the fairways and tee boxes have been done.Greens were great though, soft and kind of bumpy...but what public course isn't ?Lots( I mean LOTS and LOTS ) of 5 somes,so it was slow, but hey ...it's Los Angeles...home of 10 million people. A great place to play though.

tees were moved up today(8-29). Feels like im playing an executive course. Played at 552 am, finished in 3 1/2 hours. greens were somewhat fast. They just cut the greens

this course is a great course to play on...i play here bout 2-3 times a week but the pace my be fast or slow depending how crowded it is that day...if u hav something planned right after your round i will expect the round to be about 4.5 to 5.5 hours

The course is in pretty good condition. Sand a little too fluffy for my liking. Greens are in very good condition. The pace of play was lousy. There was about 5 5-somes in front of us and none of them knew how to use a cart. We finally saw the marshal on the 17th hole (about 5 1/2 hours into the round). The 5-somes "kill" any chance of playing at a reasonable pace. There is no way a course should allow 5-somes on a weekend.

In the best shape I've ever seen it. True rolling greens, receptive and consistent. New layout on # 10 makes it more playable and a new scoring opportunity.

I played La Mirada on 6-19-03, teeing off at about 6:45 am and finishing in 4 hours. The course is in excellent condition, maybe the best of any public course I've ever played. It was an all-round pleasure to play there and I will be returning soon. A great place to play!

Played 5/13 & 5/20 everything's fine except green were bumpy. Fivesome and finished in four hours. The price is really good -- $21.00

Played this course on Sat 4-19.The greens were still a little grainy from the aeration, but you could stop your ball on a dime and they were soft and not too bumpy.A great deal for the $$ 's.

Played 4-17-03. I love this course. For the money, there may not be a better value in LA county. They had just aerated the greens, so the putting left something to be desired. The tees and fairways were in good shape. A good place to play during the week for only 21 bucks. Easy to get off as a single before 1.

Well, the course in general is in fairly good condition. The fairway and rough are in great condition. However, the greens are a little too unpredictable, possibly because of the slightly long grass on the greens. Pace of play at the time I played was only about one group behind. However, it was a great course to play, and it challenges all shot shapes and skill levels.
