Played after work as a single with cart for $19. Nice folks at the starter. This is an easy course and great to practice your game and ability to aim. Some holes are worth driving and others are good to practice your tee to green strategy. A few challenging holes and relatively flat.

On this day the course was most enjoyable. Greens were nice and the fairways were just right. If I were to come back on a project for work, I would play here again. It's fun and a great way to get your mojo back in gear.

Played Westlake Golf Course about a week and a half ago and have to say I was very impressed with the condition of the golf course. Albeit the greens were on the slow side because they were fertilizing that day in preparation for aeration coming 10/3 & 10/4 but overall they rolled well and held shots like darts. The fairways were lush providing great lies all day and what little rough they had was lush too. The tee boxes were what you expected from a short popular executive course being a little beat up from divots and the sand quality was typical firm texture. Overall it exceeded my expectations and suggest if you want to play Westlake Golf Club to get out there this week before they punch.

with a couple of good Gk buddies. First I will like to start off by saying that the course manager (big boss) is a great guy. He listened to my complaint and made no excuses for the action of his employee -

This type of attitude about fixing the issues surrounding the golf course and its patrons is the sole reason why you should play Westlake - he cares about every patron that plays the course and wants them to enjoy their day spent at Westlake golf course.


Now on to the course -
The course is a fun layout that can look and be tight in some areas. there are mature trees and they will play havoc on your golf ball. The course is very fun and I have had an enjoyable time playing this course everytime I have driven down to Westlake.

Fairways were good and the place you wanted to hit your approach shot. That would give you the best chance to score becuase the rough (el grabo) kakuya was man, tough to deal with. It is not very high but it is grabby.

Tee boxes were getting some work done to them.

Greens are good - like in previous post they were a little slow. Once they get cut they are going to be NICE.
The overall course has a lot of fun holes that will require diffrent shots with a finishing hole that will play tricks on your mind. Do I go for eagle or do I go for the sure birdie? what a delimma :)

I know some of you are wondering what happen, but I shall not give airtime to the ignorance of one man. This is about golf and not a person complaint box.

Par 67 executive type course with only two par 5's and a seven par 3's. Played with Robstretch, johnny GK & Longball23, waked in 3h 40m starting just after 1pm. Overall, the course is in good condition, greens were a tad bumpy & slower than i would prefer, but i always putt well here. Overall, they were well maintained with very few unrepaired ball marks. There were workers adding new sand in a couple of traps as we played. Tees & fairways are lush with few bad areas. Rough & fringesplus the just off the green areas have alot of kikuyu grass that will jerk your club, so chips and even many full iron shots can be more challenging than you would expect @ first glance. Almost hole is lines on both sides with large, mature trees that will knock down or even gobble up crooked shots, so the course is not as easy as the distances on the score card would initially indicate. Great place to come out and tune up your game and build up your confidence before tackling a longer course.

Played with some GK buddies this afternoon at Westlake golf course. Very short treeline course with kikuyu fairways, fringes and rough. Greens very healthy holding like darts and putting extremely slow...they need a good cut. Fairways very lush kikuyu and no roll for low shots...in good shape. Tee boxes semi-level with just a little divot damage. Rough was hit or miss and in pretty good shape. Not in any bunkers so cannot comment on those. Westlake is a perfect course to work on your wedges, some long irons off the tees and overall short game. Very nice general manager and staff except the marshall who yelled at us for playing the blue markers instead of the tees which were way up today....we walked in 3 hours 40 minutes...with not that many people you should be able to get around here in 3 hours 30 minutes max.

My inlaws live across the street so after being around for 6 years I decided to play this course. Terrible. I will never go back. Brought my best friend and we got so much attitude from the senior citizens who seemed to run everything, that we just skipped a few holes to get out of there quicker. There are branches and goose poop all over the grounds and the grass was probably last cut around Christmas. I am an avid golfer and now I never want to leave Moorpark Country Club as they know how to treat a customer and the grounds are awesome. Westlake golf course service sucked.

I recently moved down from Sacramento. I've been driving by this course everyday from the 101 freeway. Never thought to play it because it looked so executive-non-challenging. Gave it a try this weekend. Must say I was impressed. Good shape. Played in under 4 hours. Tight fairways to hit. Lots of water to carry. Surprising difficult greens to putt. I thought the folks in the proshop were courteous. Looks like the greens will be punched next week. When they heal I will be back.

Last time I played Westlake, it was in great condition. It has declined since. Fairways are thin and hard, there is really no rough (unless you count the weeds with flowers), and the bunkers are middle of the road. The greens were suprisingly the best part of the course. For a course like Westlake, they were fast. Maybe 10 on the stimp. The only green that is wierd is #17. It is NOTHING like the rest of the course. That greens is hard, and impossible to hold a shot in the right place. Westlake may not be the best course in the area, but if you can deal with the hackers, and get a tee time(you can't pay your green fee until your next up), you get a great place to practice for a decent price.

First to tee it up at Westlake Village GC on Wednesday. Got around in 3 ½ hours but if we pushed it, could have easily finished in under 3. The golf course is in great shape! No joke! Albeit the greens were running slow for my tastes but they rolled smooth and held shots like darts. The fairways were mostly lush as was the short rough. Sand traps contained decent quality sand and the tee boxes although not very level were mostly lush. If you’re thinking of playing Westlake, I would give it shot now. As the summer temps heat up, you’ll likely see the course become a bit heat stressed with conditions deteriorating. If I had to guess, I’d say the course should be in this kind of great shape for another 3 to 4 weeks. This is fun track that requires straight shots, forced carries over water and excellent putting/chipping skills. It’s a short course but it will make you a better golfer.
