Played Twilight 4/10/10. Course is in okay condition. Can't say much about the fairways and rough as they were close to the same length of grass. Bunkers were acually kind of nice, and not wet because of the recent rains. The greens were slow and bumpy. But, I always find Westlake fun and great to play and practice on!

Teed it up at Westlake golf course yesterday with Longball23 and RobStretch. It was a fun day and perfect timing to get out before the rains hit. Westlake GC is one I am very familiar with being its just 5 minutes from my house. I’ve played many executives courses and Westlake GC is everything you want out of one. Its not surprising since the course is a Robert Trent Jones design. The course features tight demanding tee shots, large mature trees to navigate around, tricky undulating greens, well positioned green side bunkers and forced carries over water. If you are hitting the ball straight off the tee, have command of your short irons and putting well, you will tear this course up. On the opposite side, if you’re wild off the tee and not putting well, it will eat you up. It may be a short course at 5000 yards, par 63, but you’ll need to play well to score well. Yesterday, I was impressed with the conditions given the time of year. The greens rolled very well and were actually fast, the fairways were NOT as dormant as I anticipated and the green side areas were well maintained. The tee boxes need some work but I can’t imagine it possible to maintain the tee boxes well considering how much play the course gets and the amount of irons used off the tee. Worth noting, there may be a fair share of risk-reward par 4’s that can be reached off the tee, but there is also a 550 yard par 5, and a couple 400 yard plus par 4’s. I recommend Westlake GC as a premier executive course and interesting game of golf.

Played Westlake golf course with JohnnyGK and Robstretch...thanks for the invite....the greens were alot firmer than the last time I played here...not rolling smooth all the time but for the most part putts held their line and were dropping for our entire group....the fairways have lost some of the green and lush grass that they had last summer but there were not too bad of lies out there....the one thing that does need work on this course were the tee boxes...several tees were not level....the pace of play was great as was the weather....westlake is a place to work on your wedges and short game.....several of the holes have trees that guard the fairway so you do need to hit it straight off of the tee....for an executive course not a bad place to play.

I play here often and am a huge fan of the course, usually. I got out this weekend for a very rare weekend round. A note to fivesomes: If you MUST play as a fivesome, please be aware of all the other golfers on the course and do your best to stay on pace. If you are hitting your 4th shot on the 5th hole and you you are still 200 yards from the green on a 300 yard par 4 and there are 2 open holes in front of you and 2 groups standing on the tee behind you, please consider picking up and moving on. Or at least allow the groups behind you to play through. Saving time by not raking bunkers doesn't count.

A note to the marshals: 'Let them have their fun' is perhaps not the best answer to the groups waiting behind a fivesome on every single shot. Maybe only allow fivesomes if at least one of them is dressed somewhat appropriately and has clubs made since Reagan was President?

Other than 5 ignorant golfers and an indifferent marshal, the course was pretty nice! The fairways were lush, as were the greens. There are lots of ball marks that have gone unrepaired on the greens, but overall they are pretty good considering. The tee boxes really, really need some work. Many are very uneven, and some hitting areas are totally barren with no grass anywhere within the allotted 2 club length.

I think Westlake is a great, great practice course, and the people there are awesome. This is the first time I have had issues with marshalling or impolite golfers at Westlake. I won't hesitate to come back and play again. But maybe not on a weekend.

out again friday aug 7th. course remains in consistent condition save the greens. bumpy as all get out. also, must have repaired 80 ball marks [beyond mine]- just terrible the repair rate by users not better on this course- esp since the greens are absolutely reachable. anyway, hooked up with the usual cordial people typically found at WL on a friday late afternoon for a stroll next to the 101 fwy and will continue to remain in my roto that way.

played here past several fridays after work. fun layout, great value. clever tee box/flag placements shows the crew paying attention. for sundowners, the first 9 moves slow. most vacate at the turn- you'll get the back side in +/- 60 mins. greens 1/4 punched last week- putts can still be made. fairways consistent and perky. have not been in the sand and by looking at it, good thing. tee boxes lukewarm- by late PM furry for a short course. if you can put up with the freeway din for most of the round, play here and sharpen your game.

Played Westlake with Ringworld,JohnnyGK and Nickesquire1 from the blues. Had not played here for some time. I must say the fairways are looking nice and green at Westlake. They were lush and had just been mowed. The greens were in better shape than I rembember at Westlake and were holding iron's and approach shots nice. They were putting fairly true, probably only around an 7 or 8 on the stimp and in good shape. The tees were decent but were unlevel on most tees. Sand was more on the firm side and in decent shape. The rough was not to bad on most holes. This is a super short course with two par 5's on both sides and a par of 67. Most all of the holes are treelined....if you have a great driver and putting day you can go low on this course. Pace of play was OK..we walked in 4 hours. Friendly staff and a big driving range with mats. I would recommend this course for its fairways and overall conditions at this time.
