Played there 06/24/17 and the course is in decent playable condition given it's a public course. The best thing going for the course are the greens are in great shape. They're smooth with a medium fast speed so rolling nice. The fairways are inconsistent with some areas very nice and lush but then some parts thin. The rough is all over the place, some areas so thick and deep it was hard to find a ball and others thin. The sand I can't say much about because I didn't go in any traps but they looked playable. The tee boxes were a bit thick and spongy, I had to switch to extra long tees... and they weren't very level. Overall it's got a decent layout and the pace of play was reasonable, no backed up holes.

Played today in a great POP of 3 hours, under nice cool cloudy skies. Course is in good shape, but signs of drying out in the fairways are appearing; tee boxes clean but they do need leveling one of these days; fairways provided good lies and run out, provided you did not roll into some of the dry areas; rough is about 1/2 thick/sticky; bunkers (what little they have & I like that) appeared fine and heard no complaints; greens are small on this course, but they are in great shape and fast. Customer service in the shop excellent, as well as the ladies in the restaurant.

Played today in a great 3 hour pace. Course is in very nice shape at present. Tee boxes are clean but some need some leveling. Fairways were all cut and clean, provided good roll and lies throughout. Rough on the outside of the fairways is about 1/2 inch and penal. Traps were all clean/playable. Greens were in very nice shape and chipped and putted (fast) extremely well. Good conditions at present and good prices being an LA County course.

Decided to get out to another LA County course before my senior card expire. To play for $16.50 is a steal. To piggyback on 24hourgolf's recent review, greens are as good as I can remember. Most of the fairways were fine, plenty of grass. Rough was so-so. Not in any bunkers, but they appeared OK.

Customer service was great. Able to get out early and around quickly. Not my favorite course, but it was a nice change to pace.

Played today in a nice 3.5 POP. Course is in very nice condition at the moment. Fairways are green, mowed and provided good roll and lies throughout; tee boxes (while needing some leveling IMO) are in good shape; rough on the outside of fairways is deep/sticky; bunkers are clean and playable; greens are in the best shape I have seen them and chipped/putted extremely well all round. Customer service was excellent. I will keep going back, as long as these conditions are what you get.

Had time to play 9 today, so chose Mt 9 @ WN. Check in was quick and customer service excellent. Course is in great shape. Tee boxes are clean and playable. Fairways are nicely covered, providing good roll and good lies. Rough is noticeable, but outside of fairways and around greens, but no issues. While I managed to avoid the traps, they all were clean and raked and readied by maintenance. Greens were mowed, clean and held shots and chipped/putted very well. Nice enjoyable, quick 9 holes.

Played a round back in December. It was decent for the money on a peak weekend tee time. We tee'd off st 7:45am, as a 4some, POP was 4:40. Not great, but not terrible. Course was in decent shape. I've never been here before, and was pleasantly surprised by the whole course in general. Tee boxes were flat and cut well. Fairways were hit or miss, but overall good coverage for a muni course. Rough was patchy and thin in some spots, thicker in others. Typical LA muni shape. Greens rolled decent and held shots. I hope the recent rains keep it in good shape. I'd recommend Whittier Narrows to anyone.

Played Whittier Narrows for the first time recently with fellow GKer Kassper7 and came away with mixed feelings about the course. We played the River and Pine nines from the blue tees.

I found the Pine nine far more interesting and fun than the River nine. Some of the green complexes are actually quite nice, which is in stark contrast to much of the rest of the course. Some of the holes are deceptively long (as mentioned in last review) and that seems to be the majority of WN's defenses. The fairways throughout are pretty wide open - consider this Woodley East.

Course conditions a mixed bag. The greens were quite fast and in very good shape. There are plenty of subtle breaks to them and they hold shots relatively well. Staff doing a very good job here. The rest? Pretty 'meh' overall ... fairways are just okay - plenty of dry areas and thin lies even with good tee shots. The rough is not very penalizing and there are a lot of mulch areas to contend with around the course.

The tee boxes were far from lush but level enough to not pose any issues. And the sand traps varied from hole to hole in terms of quality - again, seemed a bit better on the Pine nine than the River. POP? We had a pretty slow group in front of us and waited quite a bit - not sure if this is indicative of other times though.

I'm glad I played this course finally and if ever in the neighborhood for a twilight round I wouldn't have too much of a problem playing there, but it's not the type of course I would go out of my way for on a weekend to drive an hour to reach.

Took advantage of their special ($16.50 + cart) after 10 AM. Went off at Noon and play was particularly slow (all those other players using the special LOL). Still ended up playing in 4 H 15 as some players had other places to go, rather than finish 18 (thank you). Course is in relatively good shape, given all the play it gets. Tee boxes had good coverage and no issues; fairways had some thin spots, but overall provided good lies and roll all round; heard no issues with sand traps; virtually no rough anywhere, as it has been eliminated and replaced with wood chips. Greens were very fast, though they did not appear that way and chipped/putted very well (but poor divot repair by players). Customer service excellent at all levels. Very long course (# 8 is a 473 B/ 463 W par 4) 6800 + Blue/6600 + W which gets overlooked by many and no doubt adds to the slow play? Excellent driving range (small putting green) and very good diner, that add to the facilities.
