Played the classic today. Its typical mile square. Tee boxes chewed up and sanded. Fairways hit and miss. Some had great coverage, others had GUR. The greens were the highlight for sure. They were firm and fast. They matched the practice greens perfectly, they held shots, and putted true. Like always at MS, the greens were the highlight.

Met an old friend out at Mile Square Classic for a 7:52 tee time, today 10/21. Cool morning but it warmed up nicely and really was a beautiful day. Not very crowded that early and followed a slow 4 some (that had no business teeing off from the blues) but it was fine as I got a chance to catch up with my friend. Sill finished in just under 4 hours. Check in was easy enough but paid $54($54 seemed a bit steep for this course. $39 to walk and always do but we decided to ride). Wanted to inquire more about the announced closing of one the courses but the guys in the clubhouse were busy to talk with so no news to report there. The course is in good condition. For the most part, good coverage in the fairways. Some bare spots where they were aerated but not many. Rough was that kikuyu stuff and wasn’t too thick. Bunkers were in nice shape. Good firm sand but c’mon Mile Square players, rake your bunkers after use. Hint: That’s why they leave a couple of rakes by each bunker. Many deep foot prints in all the ones I was in. Greens were in pretty good shape after being aerated with little holes a couple of weeks ago. They just were not very fast. Not at all as fast as they looked. They should be rolling better in about a week or 2. I always enjoy playing here even though I usually face freeway traffic to get out there for a morning round. Not the most challenging course but the layout is fun.

Played Tues July 30. We play here allot so very friendly check in. Had a 7 am tee time and got out early. Course is in good shape, tee boxes and fairways good, rough was a little long and took some to fine your ball at times, was in one bunker and sand was ok. Greens were nice, rolled well. We were a walking 4 some. Teed off with no one in front of us and a riding 2 some behind, we lost the riding 2 some and caught a 4 some on 7 and pushed them a little. POP was still good at 336. At $39 walking senior this is a great value for O.C. and is a great course to walk. The only issue is I live in norco a leave my house at 430 to get thru Corona and the 91 frwy. Lol

First time playing the Classic on Wednesday at 10:22 paired with brothers Tom & David who were fun and knew the course well. Short wait on most shots with several fours and a five ahead finishing in 4 1/4 hours on a warm muggy day. A few tees a little worn and beat, the fairways were well covered and allowed rollout, rough good with some sparse areas, in two bunkers a greenside/fairway both nice fine sand and greens rolled smoothly medium fast. Stayed below hole to minimize downhill speed and afternoon breeze made several holes play an extra club or two. Crews out trimming edges, raking traps and cutting up a couple large downed trees. I think lake hole #16 the fairway had quite a few sanded areas where grass should have been but more visual than a hinder. After round lunch was very nice. Overall good conditions and a fun round.

Played Friday, 7/12. Teed off at 6:20 and finished in 4 hours. The greens were running medium speed which is slower than usual. But they did roll mostly true and held well struck shots. The fairways had good coverage and had average roll out. The rough has mostly good coverage with a few thin/bare spots. The bunkers were in good shape based on the two I visited. Although a little wet (to be expected during early morning golf) the sand was soft with plenty of depth. The tee boxes were good with some mildly unlevel spots. Enjoyable parkland style course lined with large trees and water comes into play on a few holes. The staff was friendly.

Played our GK Cup match on Sunday at Mile Square and were treated to a course that is in nice shape thanks to all the recent rains and a fun, yet fairly straightforward layout. Blue tees play to 6700 yards so it's definitely got a lot of long par 4s to challenge you. Fairways are mostly pretty wide open, but there are healthy trees lining most every hole and a few water features on the back nine to contend with on the day.

FYI, if you're one of those players that likes to rent a push cart, well, they have very old-timey pull carts here with the minimalist of frills that you can get for $10 and they reimburse you $5 after you bring back the handle after your round.

Right now the fairways and rough are in nice shape with good to lush coverage in most all areas. A few thin spots here and there but mostly good times ahead. Bunkers had nice sand in them but it was made tough by the moist conditions following the morning dew that never seemed to burn off until the end. Tee boxes were flat but a little beat up and in need of some minor attention.

The greens were a spotty mix of colors but actually held shots nicely and rolled pretty true all day. They were medium to medium-fast speed all throughout the round, but are not so tricked out that it creates any major problems. Some ball marks to deal with for sure, but no major complaints.

No cart service all day which was a bit strange for a busy Sunday, but the POP was great as we found a sweet spot with the 7:07 tee time and never really waited throughout the entire round, nor were we dutifully pushed hard by any of the groups behind us. Really worked out great in that respect, probably finishing in right around 4-4.5 hours. Ideal pace.

Shame to hear that they'll be closing one of the two 18s at Mile Square some time this or next year, but I understand that it'll be the Players closing its doors, so we'll still have access to this very nice Classic 18 for many years to come.

Play here weekly. Yesterday 4-20-2019 got through in 4.5 hours, great for a Saturday. Greens are 90% healed from aeration two weeks ago.

The fairways had good coverage with a few thin spots. The rough was mostly good with a few thin/bare spots. The bunkers were fair to good. I was in four greenside bunkers. Two were very good and two were a bit compacted. The tee boxes were mostly good. The staff was friendly.
