Played Saturday at 10 AM just under 4 hours..just a little waiting on most tees, no one close behind after 4 holes. Course in excellent shape, real sand in bunkers for a change and I should know I was in 8 of them. We were lucky as no wind and temperature stayed below 90. Always easy to recommend this course...super excellent warm up and practice area's in fact it is worth just paying to use practice area if your not playing and want to, at least, practice like a Pro.

Back out to Palm Desert area for a few days and played a twilight round at Shadow Ridge again. Not much to report different from my last visit here a little less than a month ago, but a short recap.

Greens are actually in really good shape now and a bit faster than they were on the last visit. All the rest of the particulars - fairways, rough, bunkers and tee boxes - are all in great shape and playing superbly.

POP was actually the biggest disappointment of the day as we waited on most holes because two groups ahead of us were not in any hurry whatsoever. Most frustrating of all was getting to the 18th tee box and seeing three groups out there still - one on the green, one waiting near the bailout area left of the green, and the group ahead of us short in the fairway. This is not normal here.

Other than that though, great experience and a highly recommended visit when in the area. Super fun course that's almost always in great condition. What more could you want?

Check in was seamless, & the crew were all very attentive. Usual Covid precautions, divot fixer is on the carts.

Tee boxes; Grass coverage good, but nearly every hole searching for a level spot.

Fairways; Great coverage, very lush with great roll out on well hit balls. I believe the divot mix on board the carts helps here. Wonderful fairways.

Rough; near perfect coverage, not killer high, but high enough to want to stay in fairway. Really, really nice.

Greens; Great! Med fast, well hit balls would stop, but still kind of hard. A pleasure to putt on (& I didn't putt great, that was me!)

GPS on comfortable carts.

Cart girl was around at least 3 times. The snack shop was closed by 1:30 when we finished.

POP: was good, we finished in 4 hours on a full course.

Overall, this is a great course. Water features, tight fairways at times & wide open at others, just nice! I'll be back. Challenging & well run & in beautiful condition. Pricey (I believe $129 even with buddies "owner" discount,) but worth it to me.

Day one of a three-day Palm Desert trip found us at the always fun Marriott's Shadow Ridge yet again. Why do we always seem to come back here each and every time? Because it's simply a great track and a pretty great value for what you get in a golf experience.

First stop is the terrific range. After that, a nice, plush cart awaits you with a good, not great GPS system. We played from the green tees today and found the tee boxes in very good condition - never an issue. We also had cart service numerous time and never waited on a single hole with a 1pm tee time.

Greens are in very nice condition, although not quite as fast as they look. I gave far too many downhill putts too much respect and came up short quite often. But the lines are true and there aren't many gimmicks or too many adventures on these 18 greens. I appreciate that. But please don't think that they're easy - you still have to navigate the subtle slopes and get the speeds right off some of the sharp embankments if you happen to be offline on approaches.

You will definitely find plenty of beautiful fairway to work with though the entire afternoon, and the rough is lush and inviting of good shots. I found a few of the bunkers as well and found the sand to be in good shape. A few of the fairway bunkers were being allowed to grow some plant life, same as the waste areas, but nothing too overwhelming to point the finger.

Shadow Ridge. Quite simply one of the best experiences in the Coachella Valley. Don't miss it.

Played here today (3/24) with GK member Kassper7 and my buddies Jeremiah and Josh on an 11:27AM tee time on what began as a windy but ended in absolutely perfect March Palm Springs weather. This was my second time playing Shadow Ridge and I walked away perhaps even more impressed with this course, probably because my playing partners (all first timers here) enjoyed it so much, we all played well, and conditions were a tick below perfect. Tee boxes: Played the gold tees today and no issues to report. Some boxes were a bit chewed up but no more than any other tee option would if you tee off near noon. Fairways: Typical Palm Springs carpet of spectacular green contrasting the natural landscape. Roll was more than fair, lies were excellent, and the ball sat up very nicely. Rough: Rough was penal though not nearly as tough as it could be. The areas surrounding each hole (natural waste areas) are far more penal. Bunkers: Lots of bunkers at this course, but each one had nice sand in copious amounts. No rakes yet. Greens: Wonderfully contoured, roll was at times slow and at times fast, but always smooth and true. Undulation was crazy on some holes. ETC: Nice carts with very basic GPS. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cart attendant came around twice and snack shack under the clubhouse was open, though the one at the turn seems to have been closed for some time. Conditions and layout here are excellent. Pace today was ~4.75 hours but at times slowed quite a bit as group in front played slow due to slow play ahead of them, and of course the group behind us was a fivesome of impatient seniors consistently hitting at our heels. Highly recommend Shadow Ridge right now.

Greens are smooth and average speed but challenging as everything breaks. Fairway lies are not plush but good coverage and ball sits just enough. Nice fluffy sand in most bunkers. It’s a Faldo course. Not sure how much input he had in the design but several holes had us cussing out Sir Nick as bunkers are placed in tough spots with false fronts you can’t see from the fairway. Lots of very long and very short par 4s. No food or cart service due to Covid.

Played here last week and why have I been putting this course off like The Dunes?? WOW!! Course is PLUSH!!! Customer service was clear and verbal about everything going on with COVID. No cart girl but was told this pre round. POP was just over 4 hrs. Man I really dont need to say much. Tee Boxes, fairways, rough, bunkers (no rakes), and greens were plush. Greens were quick and he course was completely enjoyable. I hink the $99 rate is great compared to what I see at $129-$159. I will be returning real soon

Days Two and Four of my extended Palm Springs weekend saw action at the always fun Shadow Ridge course in Palm Desert. This Faldo design is always a winner, especially when the conditions are pretty close to perfect. Exceptional layout and a challenging, yet enjoyable 18 holes make this place always one of the must-play courses in the area.

We played both rounds from the green tees and rode for $125 - very much in line for the experience you will get, with a few tiny exceptions. The course is currently a generous Cart Path Only but there doesn't appear to be any enforcement whatsoever. Cart service was exceptional with beverages showing up almost every 3-4 holes. There are no water stations anywhere so bring what you need for that.

Fairways are in great shape after the re-seeding and should only get better over the new few weeks. The rough is also exceptional and the place simply exudes quality from the visuals right now. Bunker sand was very nice but I only found myself in one the entire weekend, while the tee boxes were all in fine condition. The greens? Well, like many places out here, they're currently on the slow side so you'll really have to get a feel for them early, but they're in perfect condition in terms of true lines and holding shots well. Just need a few weeks.

I will never think twice about playing this course over and over again and this weekend's trip only solidified that view. Can't wait to get back out there again.

Day 2 of our summer getaway and scored a hot deal. Overall was impressed with the layout and conditions. The tee boxes were very good. All level with good to very good coverage. The fairways were also very good, they were very healthy for the time of year and provided a great surface for hitting off of. They were a bit cushy so there wasn’t a whole lot of roll out which you come to expect in the summer months. The rough wasn’t too long or overly penal, was playable. The bunkers were well stocked and good to hit out of. The waste areas which are meant to be mostly sand had a lot of long grasses growing out of them which made them a bit more challenging than expected. The greens were healthy and rolled true albeit pretty slow. Really felt like you had to hit the ball hard to get it to the hole.

Was very happy to play here as I’d heard great things and will definitely be in the rotation on future trips.
