Rode the Greens (6621/71.5/130) in less than 3H twilight using Forelinx. The weather was in the low 100's, clear and fairly calm. Nick Faldo designed layout, fun to play. The landing areas on most par 4 & par 5 tee shots are very generous in width. The par 3's offer a good variation in length and look. Several risk/reward par 4's that could produce birdies or doubles. Two par 4's over 460 from the next to back set of tees. The Bermuda tees were mostly lush, with only a couple needing divot attention. The Bermuda fairways were semi lush and firm. Well maintained, usually nice to play from. The Bermuda rough was mostly lush and just tall enough that the ball sat down enough to usually be punitive. Nice to chip out of. The green side sand traps were well maintained with good quality white sand. Some fairway traps are waste bunkers & less maintained. Numerous traps on this course are large, deep, and need to be avoided by most amateurs. The Bermuda greens were firm but held approach shots with some run out. Hardly any ball marks because of the firmness. They putted medium fast speed and were mostly smooth. Water stations on the course every couple of holes. Good GPS on the carts. Practice facility is all grass and includes balls with your fee.The customer service was good from everyone encountered. Drink cart out and around numerous times. Recommended.

Rode the Greens (6621/71.5/130) in 2.5H mid day using Forelinx. The weather was around 100, clear and calm. The Bermuda tees were mostly lush, with only a couple needing divot attention. The Bermuda fairways were semi lush and firm, well maintained. The Bermuda rough was mostly lush and just tall enough to make you think twice when using longer clubs. Usually nice to chip out of. The green side sand traps were well maintained with good quality white sand. Numerous traps that appear to be green side from the tee are actually 25-50 yards from greens, so you can get unusual length sand shots here. Some fairway traps are waste bunkers & less maintained. The Bermuda greens were firm, putted medium fast speed and were mostly smooth. They held approach shots with some run out with hardly any ball marks because of the firmness. The Faldo layout is fun to play and suits my eye. Numerous risk/reward par 4's that could produce a 3-4 or a 6-7. Two par 4's over 460 from even the next to back set of tees. Rode the Greens (6621/71.5/130) mid day. POP dragged on the front, things spaced out and moved better on the back, overall 4H, 15M. The weather was in the low 100's, sunny with a little breeze. Seemed hotter and slower than it actually was? The course is in the 7-8/10 range from tee to green. The greens are still recovering from their recent aeration. The tees were mostly good. Level with good coverage and only minor divot damage. The fairways were mostly lush to semi lush and played firm. There are a few hard pan areas caused by the heat that had been recently aerated that should be GUR. The maintained rough is not very penal here, mostly lush to semi lush and not overly tall. You hope it catches any offline shots, because the native stuff is a probable lost ball. The large/deep sand traps were mostly well maintained with good quality sand. You need to avoid the fairway traps here more than most courses. If you get in the green side traps, it will be a tough sandie. The greens were firm, somewhat bumpy and medium speed. Improved from when I played here earlier, but still another week before they will be good again. The GPS on the carts is good and the all grass practice range is excellent. Nice restaurant on site. The customer service from everyone was very good. The drink cart came by several times and the Starter/Marshall out patrolling trying to keep people moving. Recommended, one of my favorite public layouts in the greater Palm Springs area.

Played 36 holes June 5 w/Nick, Greg and Gus using Nick's coupon. First time here, not much staff interaction but generally pleasant.

Really enjoyed the layout - short/long/tight/wide-open/left/right - it's got pretty much everything. Tees were good, fairways were mostly good for this time of year (some bare spots) with signs of being punched on most holes. Sand was good, firm (not hard) and plenty of it (both in the bunkers and overall on the course) - top layer got a little crusty later in the day due to heat/wind.

Greens were ok at best. Note on here says small-tine punch - those are the biggest "small-tines" I've ever seen! Fairly consistent speed (medium slow) but didn't hold shots very well and putts were an adventure. Couple greens they have marked to reduce the putting surface which appears to be a good decision.

With the current heat it'll take at least 2 weeks for the greens to be decent - otherwise the course is in good shape for the summer season.

Rode the Greens (6621/71.5/130) with caligolfer1031, adigitalg87 and HmtGolfGuy in 4H, 20M early morning. We then broke for lunch and came back for an afternoon round. The weather was in the mid 90's, muggy and sunny with a little breeze. Thanks to Greg, Gus and Ron for a fun 36 holes! One of my favorite Palm Springs area public layouts. Fairly tame from tee to green if you can avoid dozens of large fairway bunkers. No significant forced carries and not an overly significant amount of water hazards. However, the nuances of the green complexes are well above average in difficulty. Except for the greens, the course was in pretty good shape but beginning to show signs of the almost daily 100 degree temps that has been prevalent locally. The tees were mostly good. Level with good coverage with only minor divot damage. The fairways were lush to semi lush with a few hard pan areas caused by the heat that had been recently aerated. The rough was mostly lush to semi lush and not overly penal. The sand traps were mostly well maintained with good quality sand. The greens were poor, showing visible signs of their recent aeration. Firm, bumpy and slow. The customer service from everyone was excellent. Marshall out patrolling trying to enforce POP and the drink cart gal was making the rounds. GPS on the carts is good and the all grass practice range is excellent. Definitely recommended, but the greens are at least another 10 days from being smooth and medium fast again.

Played on Friday morning on a beautiful day. The course is in very good condition with a few brown areas in the fairways but overall great lies to play from. The only issue I had was they had recently punched the greens with small holes and sanded them earlier in the week. When I called to confirm my tee time they didn't say anything about it. They rolled OK but were very slow. Give it a couple of weeks and they'll be great. I really like this course and the layout, very enjoyable.

Overview: Marriott's Shadow Ridge Resort was Nick Faldo's 1st U.S. design, and he said that he drew his inspiration for this design from the sand belt courses of Australia ... in particular Kingston Heath and Royal Melbourne. The fairways are quite large with deep bunkers and large undulating greens. This course reminds me of his Wildfire Course in Phoenix, AZ as well as the Gary Panks design ... Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix, AZ.

Clubhouse: Greeted promptly at the bag drop and went right into the clubhouse and was taken care of quickly and efficiently by the pro shop staff. Nice to see that range balls and sales tax are already included in the price. Always charged tax in AZ and it seems that more and more courses are starting to charge a separate fee for practice balls.

Practice Area: Large, beautiful practice area that had very nice grass coverage. There was also a large practice putting green and a very nice small short game area.

Course: A beautiful course design with a great variety of holes. The 1st hole is pretty much right in front of you and gives you a chance at a good start to your round. The tee shot on the 2nd hole is right in front of you too, and then the par 5 dog legs to the left and you see all the water down the right side and that is when you know the course has some teeth. The bunkers are quite deep and for the most part have good sand in them. The greens are quite undulating, very smooth and ran at a nice speed. The greens had tightly mowed areas where the ball could ... in many cases run off into a chipping area. The fairways were in very good shape and had good grass coverage. I enjoyed many of the holes, but my favorites were the par 4 9th hole and the par 4 10th hole. #18 is an excellent finishing hole with a creek that runs on the the left side of the fairway for the tee shot and then snakes in front and then to the right of the elevated green. This hole can be very challenging with the prevailing wind out of the north west that was blowing 15-20 mph the day that we played it.

Final Thoughts: Wanted to thank sixpez for his recommendation on playing this course. With the amount of time that I have played golf in the Palm Springs area over the last few years, this was the first time that I have heard of the course and was excited to try something new. We enjoyed playing here and this course will be added to our must play list when we visit the Coachella Valley in the future.

Played this course on May 20th, second off early morning, warmed up first on the beautiful range and then putted a few minutes and then we just walked to the starter and said ok we are ready, no one behind us and we only waited on a few shots for the couple in front of us. I really couldnt appreciate it entirely as my energy reserves were drained after playing the day before at Woodhaven and two days total sleep of 9 hours is not enough for this old dude. Onto the course, a beauty, tee boxes we played were the greens, 6600 yards. flat, level and easy to put your peg into the grass to tee it up. Fairways were pristine, easy to hit from, not too many unrepaired divots,(come on you have the bottles, use them). Rough was about 1- inches long and playable. bunkers were fluffy, only one had some hardpan, and most were pretty wet from the morning irrigation. Greens, I love to putt on desert bermuda and these greens were excellent, nice roll and able to be firm at the hole to drain the putts. Only draw back was nature giving us some pretty steady wind, but its the desert, dont play if you cant tolerate the breezy. Best part, 3 card poker at Agua Caliente was very generous to me so they paid the green fees
