Played last Friday.. what can you say, 17.00 to ride at 2 p.m.

fairways are nice, grns are smooth and roll nice (med.speed) bunkers need sand. Nothing special, but not bad either. Gets windy during the afternoons, so that adds some difficulty on this easy course.

I've never played this course but have a 8 am tee time 6-23-08 with an old buddy from the Navy. I've been reading reviews here with good and bad comments. I've played a lot of courses in the last 10 years and really like to comment on all of them. Once I've completed my 18 holes next week I will post my comment on this course. I'm really excited about playing here on a new course. I see price is very reasonable for an weekday 8 am tee time. I'm very happy so far.

The greens have potential, but need to be rolled! Fairways are awful! Traps thin, but consistant. However for $12.00, tough to be too critical and the staff was fantastic! I choose this course when I have only a little time and need to "fly" around in a couple hours. The staff is always accommodating.

Great city run course and a real asset to the community.
May not be a "country club" but neither is the price. The head pro Tim is a great guy and teacher. We, the golfing community could use many more courses like this one.

not bad for the price and a fun layout. you get what you pay for though. the greens are good, but you have to deal with the wind late afternoons.

Terrible course, The City of Ontario has let this track go to the dogs. Fairways lumpy, unfair if you drive well. Greens terrible and too, too soft. Ball almost plugs. No sand in some of the bunkers so your thinning your bunker shot or worst. This is a Hackers Golf Course or just a good practice area. By the way their Range Balls are old and cracked.

Good course for beginners. Long straight fairways with very few hazards. Course is not in good shape but for the cost what do you expect? When you're learning to play you don't want to spend a lot of money to play bad, so this is good practice for first timers. If you are a resident of Ontario you get a discount.

This course is not the most manicured nor the best looking course.

But this course is worth every $1 per hole to play as a senior and maybe $1.20 a hole if you're not.

This is a great course to come out and spend a few hours and enjoy your friends or family.

At a dollar per hole, we are not talking about fast greens, but we are talking about a fairly good rolling green for the money. The fairways runs good and cut short, the bunkers could use more sand, but that's not what you look for in this course. The ropughs aren't high, you could get through it enough not to penalize a shot.

This has got to be the best next to FREE!

If you are looking to get a very casual,,, walk on,,, just to get going with golf,,, or your practice round off and not spending a whole lot... Whispering Lakes GC

Played this course yesterday at around 2:30 for $17 with cart...cant beat that. This course was in good shape. The fairways actually had grass and was recently mowed down nicely. The rough wasnt too bad either (except for the left side of #5 which should be marked G.U.R) The greens were very bumpy as a result of a lot of play and softness. But all-in-all it was worth the $17.

I don't know why this place gets such a bad rap. I think it's well worth the green fee. $34 dollars weekend. The grass is green, the greens and fairways are pretty good. Would I bring a client here, no. However, for a cheap round of golf, the course is decent. The bad: Every group is a fivesome, causes slow play. Smell from Dairy across street makes you glad you're a city boy. Cart paths are like 4-wheelin' off road somewhere. Club house is in bad shape, next earthquake should put it out of it's missery. Low rate brings out the hackers. You'll often wonder how that group got in front of you, don't worry they're just passing through. That being said, the course is in decent shape.

The course is in excellent condition with lush, soft greens. There are some narrow fairways and long holes to challenge a golfer. The course may play slow at times because of the inexpensive fees. And once you adjust the air quality (there's a dairy farm across the street), you'll find it's worth the fees.

Course in better shape greens still bumpy. Doesnt seem to be as
much bird crap, but there are too many drunks in carts slowing down pace.

Inexpensive, but still question the value. No need to make it tougher by playing a course that's in so bad a shape that shots become more challanging than they should be.

The course was what it usually is. Pretty bad shape! Ironically, the greens are the best part of the course, bumpy as they may be. Tee boxes and fairways are a mess! Course is empty, so it's easy to get on. Alot of newer players, so golf rules and fellow playmanship is out the window.

Great afternoon rate. Tee boxes good, fairways like rest of courses
in winter, greens in good condition except for ball marks. someone needs to do something about all the bird mess though.

Why play crappy and waste your money on a higher end course? You can minimize your damage by playing on this aging course. In all reality, courses like Whispering Lakes can prove to be very functional. First of all, no matter when you play here, the greens are usually in surprisingly good shape. Alas, the reverse is also true concerning the fairways. However, right now they are about as good as it gets here. Most of the fairway is green with minimal dirt on the actual fairway. It may be the seasonal weeds mowed down to look like a fairway but the net effect is that it plays just fine. This is a classic no frills golf experience complete with sets of hackers hitting every shot they feel entitled to spending that hard earned or monthly cash. The pace ahead could be wide open but you could very well get stuck behind a fivesome of this nature. I usually just pass them and catch the hole later or stay back and practice multiple shots. What the hell? The luxury is you're not playing at Augusta.

Okay, so the ragged cart path will jolt your teeth loose. You'll lose your bag about 3 times with the worn clasp while eating the dust from the cart ahead. Here's the solution Jethro, just bring a bungy cord or listen for your bag falling occasionally to make sure your bag isn't where you teed off. The carts have been upgraded to marginally used. The older ones that are still in use pull to one side and rub against the fender as you attempt to steer. It's okay, remember the pace is slow.

Depending on the weather, the nearby dairy farms and sewage treatment plants can make it get pretty odorous around here. The breeze that is common here is usually a bonus. So until your game elevates beyond the stench on these hallowed grounds, you can get some quality practice with absolutely no problem walking on.

I worked out my driver problems here and now I'm ready for Oak Quarry or Empire Lakes.

I love to play this course on the way home from work. Twi-light rate is $9 to walk, $14 w/ cart. The course is not in the best condition, but I have played far worse for a lot more money. This is a good practice course if you are a beginner or just want to work on your game. The biggest issues I see are other golfers not repairing their ball marks and somebody appears to have stolen all the rakes from the bunkers. To bad there is talk about closing it down.

played twice this week. they have got some good new/used golf carts that have new batteries! make sure you get a blue cart. the greens are in great shape for this place, but are soft. great course for the price, and very fun from the tips, like on sunday. might want to check it out before they turn it in to more soccer fields. like ontario needs more.

Not the best condition its been in, but still not bad at all. And for $11 after 1:00, can't really beat that deal. The fairways are in pretty good condition. However, the greens are a little thick and bumpy, making it much harder to make puts given the relatively simple contours of the greens. Pretty straight forward and flat, a great place to work on different kinds of shots, especially when the wind is howling. Wouldn't mind playing again at all when I'm back in the area.

the only thing good about this place is that it is green. thats only thing they seem to spending there money on is water. the groundskeeping here is a joke. the say they only mow here every 3rd day. seems like every week. the greens on sunday were like putting on bumpy shag carpet. it's kind of a shame because the course is a good layout. almost not worth the greens fee.

The golf course is about the same as always, rough around the edges and not highly maintained, but very accommodating and with the senior rate, a great deal for a quick round. Truth is, the general golfing public needs more courses like this.

The price is great for twilight, $14. got to finish 9 holes because the guys in front of me were slow. Still worth 14$ with cart. Most holes are straight, so it's a good practice course for a begginer like me. Conditions are nice. The club house is ulgy, but I just go in there to pay so not a big deal for me. Begginer on a budget should check this course out!!

One of the most inexpensive courses around. But, I have played courses in worse condition than this at double the price! The parts that really count (fairways and greens) are in good shape right now. Most of the holes are straight forward. However, some water and OB can bite ya if you get too careless. I am glad the course is not as ugly as the club house is. Putting out here is as easy as it gets. Greens are all flat and medium to small in size.

Played the $9.00 (walking) twilight rate. It appears that the greens need rolled. Extremely bumpy, you couldn't keep a putt on line, much less keep it from hopping. The fairways were in good shape, though I wish more people would be kind enough to fill in their divots.

Good way to practice for $9.00, but wouldn't play here to post a good score...the course isn't in good enough shape to score well on.

Aside from some idiots a few groups in front of us who thought maintaining a 5.5 hour pace was fine (so they become a 6-some), the course was enjoyable. Too bad it finally took several complaints for a marshall to finally come out and kick them off the course.

I've played this course many times in the last couple of years and it seems to just get worse. Maintenance is minimal. I know they turn on those sprinklers every once and a while and soak the course in a half inch of water. Now that it is hot they don't seem to even care. Definatly not worth the fees considering they are charging $30 plus for this course. I normally only play here when I can't get a tee time anywhere else.

I live very nearby this course. It is absolutely the BEST VALUE in all of golf... when you absolutely HAVE to play. Is it pretty? NO. Is it maintained in strict USGA accordance? NO. It is a CHEAP way to get in 18 easy to walk holes of golf. It is long and flat which means the ball rolls not to far. It is a GREAT place to bring beginners because it is wide and forgiving. If you want to play an immacutaely conditioned golf course that has a brilliant design... than reach into your pockets and pay some real money you cheap-skates... there are courses out there for folks like you. But if you want to get in a round of golf for under 20 bucks and are capable of not whining like a friggen pussyboy, you may want to come over to Whispering Lakes. Come here expecting what you are going to get. Swinging your club and strinking a ball.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. I will never play this course again. Barely any grass anywhere on the tee boxes, fairways, or rough. It appears they paint their greens so they will actually be green. No sand in the traps, only dirt. Possibly worst it the horrible sh$t smell as the course is surrounded by dairy farms. Avoid it at all costs.

Good course for the price. Hard to find those prices around here. Some construction with the dirt going on, but a nice easy course to play. Good size fairways, but they are a bit wet and the ball doesn't roll much. Pace was very good. A little under 4 hours for my 3-some.

I don't what these guys are talking about. This course was in very very good shape. The greens were almost perfect. I was able with my buddy to go right to the first tee. Next group was three holes ahead. We actually had time to sit and eat at the turn....... Teed off at 10am and was finished at 1:50pm....... Only $30 to ride...... Better than 90% of all county courses and their parking jams on every tee. Especially Lakewood(the slowest course in the county)

Played twilight today 6/25/04. Just walked on about 15 minutes till 2 and they put me in the first group off at 2 (twilight). The tee boxes were a bit thin with most being unleveled. Fairways were in good shape overall but had some thin and dead spots. The greens look very nice but are slow and bumpy. There is no drinking water or cart girls on the course so come prepaired. For $18 to ride at twilight its nothing to be disappointed about, but would rather find a nicer course if you where to play before twilight.

Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. Greens were soft, slow and a few were a little bumpy. Sand traps sucked!!
None of the water jugs were out so the only drinking available was at the club house. Good thing it was a cool day.

I must say that I love this course. Especially for the money. Twilight starts at 2:00 here, so you can get a full 18 in with no cart before nightfall if you show up early. I personally drove a cart, so the fee for me was $21.
To be right up front: the location isn't the greatest and immaculate isn't exactly the way to describe the course. It's dinged, damaged, and has many bald spots. You also need to watch out for squirrels and rabbits, which I personally don't mind.
Aside from the looks, this course was quite fun for me since most of the holes had a slight bend to them one way or another. There's a few nasty dogleg holes where you can flex your driver control muscles, and all of the holes play long from the blue tees.
The greens really threw me for a loop on this one since they are soft and slow. Some muscle is definitely required on these greens and they are very forgiving, which I think is the only drawback to the course. I have to admit though, that since the greens are so forgiving it really makes getting there all the more worth it. Sort of like finding a nice, cold glass of water after a trek in the desert.
All in all, this is a great course that I will definitely play a few more times and take my buddies to.

The fairways were as good if not better than any of the L.A. county courses. I would definitely play again real soon..... not too mention that the hot dogs only cost $2. Greens were in great shape, sand traps were a joke though...more like "Hard-packed dirt traps"[although I did chip out of the 2 I landed in..holing 1 and almost holing the other ]They need some rakes...so you can rake them after.Hard to rake without a rake ....Management !! No water coolers on the course either...apparently some one has been adding something to the coolers ..even though they are/were locked up.If they blow up that aging clubhouse and do something with it,it would be a MAJOR inprovement !! Overall for the $'s [and considering the other 4 courses I tried to get on had tournaments] it was worth it.Plus I shot my 2nd best score ever so perhaps that helped too.In the summer the dairy across the street ,will kill you with the smell, but it wasn't too bad on Sunday.

Yikes!!! This was a nightmare. Once I got on the course it was a bit better than expected, but then the pace was like a death march! Aweful!! Waiting on every tee. Apparently they were running late because they had run out of carts, and had a tournament in the middle of everything. Can only get better, I hope...

P U, IT STILL STINKS OVER IN ONTARIO, THOSE COW FARMS REALLLY STINK. I GOT A HEADACHE FROM SMELLLING IT ALL DAY! THE ONLY GOOD THING I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS COURSE, ARE THE GREENS. IF YOUR GOOD ENOUGH OR STRONG ENOUGH TO REACH THE GREEN IN 1, YOU WOULD HAVE HAD A GREAT DAY. BUT, MOST OF US HAVE TO HIT THE BALL AT LEAST 3 TO 4 TIMES. SO, WE HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THOSE LOUSY COURSE CONDITIONS. TEE BOXES WERE THRASHED. FAIRWAYS WERE TERRIBLE, ROUGHS WERE JUST AS BAD. SAND ON OCCATION WHEN I LANDED IN THEM, OH, I MEAN WHEN I WAS TESTING THEM OUT. AGAIN GREENS WHERE VERY NICE. I DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD PLAY THIS COURSE AGAIN, UNLESS THE MAD-COW DISEASE OVER-WHELMED THE NEIGHBORS AND I HERE THAT MANAGMENT REALLY PUT SOME EFFORT INTO KEEPING THEIR BUSINESS PRODUCT(GOLF COURSE) IN BETTER CONDITION.

What a goat track. You think being surrounded by manure, the course could be in better shape. Fairways had many bare spots, greens okay but very slow, and the tee boxes were horrible, mostly dirt and not a level lie on one. Hundred year old balls in at the range, and was told should get 42-45 balls, got maybe 30. Could be an interesting course with some work, but the smell kills you.

Played on 10/24, got right on, fires caused lots of ash on the greens, made it alittle difficult to put. Tee boxes need lots of work, could not find a level spot anywhere. Bunkers have virtually no sand, and when we went lots of them had puddles of water in them ! The stream that crosses some holes was drained dont know why. Overall I know i shouldnt expect much for 30 bucks but i came away dissapointed in the conditons.

I live 5 minutes from this place and I usually play it only as a last resort. To my surprise, it wasn't that bad. The greens were rebuilt a few years ago and are now in pretty good shape. The fairways are nice and lush, but, the sand traps are devoid of sand. And, flat tee boxes are few and far between. If you can get past the smell of the dairies to the south and the sewage treatment plant to the east, and you can drink your beer really fast before the flies attack, it's cheap golf.

They are letting this course go into the crapper. I have heard that they will transform it into a 9 hole course selling the remaining land for a housing development. Too bad, it WAS a nice course. On the weekend expect to spend about 5 1/2 - 6 1/2 hour per round. They let out lots of 5-somes. It appears they are not watering the course like they used to, and for some reason they did not have any igloo coolers on the course w/ice water. If you are going to play there be sure to bring lots of water and/or money to buy gatorade/soda from the snack bar. The greens fees are reasonable but the quality of the course has diminished greatly in the past couple of months. I would recommend playing only if you HAVE to play and cannot get on anywhere else.

Potential, lots of potential,,but,, not there. price is very good, fairways are very nice, greens are surprisingly good and fun. but the sand, errr, mud, and the cart paths, errr, dirt roads are the downside. I would assume the locals, regulars, would want this stuff to stay so the rates stay down, read that cheap, but this track could be much better, tougher, its long and in good shape, but the little stuff make it a dog track, we liked it,, but wont be regulars,, call us uppity,, but we will spend another $10 and be somewhere that cares. staff was polite, it cant be their fault, not sure where the blame is.

This where I started playing 18 holes a 5 years ago & I must say that this is still by far the best price for golf that price never seemed to have gone up since I first palyed here especially for Ontario resident ($16 to walk with $3 off the $19 regular on weekdays). Price is also the best on twilight & the earliest twilight times you can find (1PM for $11 to walk). The course is pretty good also and well maintained except lack some challenges with wide fairways & lack of sand & water along the fairways. But still the best for the price & twlight lovers. Check it out.
