Played a round here on 07/24/2016. The staff was very courteous and accomodating. Our round started off smoothly as there were not issues with the delays at the start. Pace of play was not bad and everyone was pretty respectful.

The tee boxes were in great shape and no real issues. The greens were a little wet at 8am but that was to be expected and shots stuck a little more than expected. They dried out as the day went on. The fairways were in okay condition. There were blad areas of grass in the middle and some random patches of crabgrass or something thick and impossible to hit on.

Overall the course was well maintained and I would play here again.

Played Friday July 22 with 3 other Guru's, Mike, Andy as well as JohnnyK. The course was looking great, whomever is rating this course at 3's and 4's should get back out there.

Played Friday July 22 with 3 other Guru's, Mike, Andy as well as JohnnyK. The course was looking great, whomever is rating this course at 3's and 4's should get back out there.
I would say the course is in great shape, the fairways were green and smooth with a patch of dry grass on maybe a couple of holes.
The greens were medium fast and true.
Bunkers were nice and fluffly.
It was a very warm/hot day so it was a surprise not to see the snack/drink cart til we reached the last 3 holes.
I personally enjoyed watching 5 hdcp. players kill the course while they patiently had to watch a 23 hdcp playing to a 30 on this day without one single grumble.
I was truly embarassed with my play not wanting to disrupt their rhythm or pace of play however they all just kept on encouraging me to relax as well as "atta boying" the few good shots I did make.
It turned out being a great outing with 3 of the best GK ambassadors on a truly fine course.

Played on Friday (July 22, 2016). This was by far the best condition I have seen Riverwalk. Played the Pres/Miss pair. The greens were a huge increase of condition since last playing there. Good course and not many better locations. Fairways were in good shape. The only thing I could say bad about the course would be the fairway bunkers were wet and compact. They need to be rake more often.

Good time yesterday teeing it up with weber2323, loutheman and Adb0406 at Riverwalk Golf Club. We played the Presidio/Mission combo. Teed it up around 8am and finished in 4 hours 30 min.

Course was in great shape. Greens were very nice, rolling smooth, moderately fast, holding shots. Fairways lush Bermuda grass with exception to 3 or 4 holes that had some trouble spots that hardly came into play, they are patching up with new turf which looks great. Rough was on and off a little spotty adjacent to the fairways but overall lush. Greenside rough was lush. The rough is mostly Bermuda grass with occasional Kikuyu. Not much of a challenge to play from but considering how nice the ball sits up in the fairway it certainly is a tougher shot. Fairway bunkers had firm sand and Greenside bunkers less firm and easy to play from. Tee boxes were all level with only minor divot damage on some par 3’s.

I like this layout a bunch. It’s a fun blend of challenging and straightforward holes. My favorite nine is the Presidio Nine. My favorite combo is Presidio/Mission. Greens can be very challenging with many undulations. The course plays longer than the yardage with some holes requiring a layup off the tee and moist lush Bermuda grass that provide little roll. The greens are all a little elevated from the fairway so take more club when in doubt. Hole 5 on Presidio Nine is my favorite. Love the risk reward of trying to clear the water hazard with a bomb drive or having to layup. Hole 9 on the Mission Nine is a terrific closing par 5 with a big water hazard challenging your approach or attempt to hit the green in two.

Nice facilities with a full driving range, good food in the clubhouse and accommodating service. Although closed yesterday, cool they have a food truck on the 1st tee of the Presidio Nine.

Might be back soon to play again - enjoy this course.

Played here as part of the GK Guru group with a tee time a little before 8. Paired up with Lou, Andy and Johnny GK himself. I have to admit I have been very hesitant on playing here after reading the reviews as of late which stinks because I work probably 2 miles from the course. After playing here today I'm not sure why I have not been here recently.

This course gets a lot of play and my experience has been the greens have always been good just maybe a few more ball marks than normal. Today however I really didn't notice an abundance of unrepaired ball marks. Greens are running nice and smooth. I thought the pace of the greens was very good but I could see them being a lot faster in the afternoon as the greens dried out.

Generally the fairways were very good. Mowed nice and tight. Yeah there are a few patchy areas in the fairways that they are watering that may not be good but generally 90-95% of the fairways are how you'd like the faiways to play.

Rough wasn't penalizing but the native areas near the river would not be playable at all. I'll put it this way when I was in the rough it did not influence my club selection.

Tee boxes were fine, I didn't notice any unlevel one or ones with significant damage.

I was in one greenside bunker and you could splash it out fine. Fairway bunkers looked a little firmer.

Great customer service. Saw the marshal out there a couple of times and the cart girl a few times as well.

The conditions certainly exceed my expectations and I will certainly be back sooner rather than later. Thanks for setting this up Johnny, look for a GK Guru outing near you.

Played the Mission / Friars combo on Monday morning. Pace was good at just over 4 hours. The conditions are a mixed bag. Depends on which nine you play. Mission in overall just ok shape. Most all tee boxes in good shape. All most all fairways had some large areas of ground under repair. It look liked they were preparing to re-sod a lot of the areas. Greens were in ok shape, lots of ball marks. Sand was mostly poor with most bunkers having little sand and hard to play from. Friars was in worse shape. Most tee boxes were decent enough to hit from. Fairways were dried out and looked like they were dying. Greens still haven't recovered from maintenance. If you want to play here try to find a good deal and avoid the friars 9.

Played here on 3/4 vs. Long4Par. Great match but the course left some things to be desired. As previous review mentioned, it would have been nice if the course had alerted people that it would be having Golf Fest at its facilities BEFORE you booked a tee-time. On to the review...

Tee-boxes: Good shape with no one hole being too beat up and all offering some room to plant your tee. Markers seemed to be really limit the tee area but the ground itself was soft.

Fairways: Overall okay condition. Some holes looked green and lush while others had lots of hard pan or GUR areas. The roll on every fairways was good though and I only found one lie that would truly affect my shot.

Rough: Not very penal and inconsistent in terms of what was offered. Like the fairways, one hole could have 3 inch rough that could really hold back your club while another could be bare and lack in penalizing a bad shot.

Greens: Excellent shape overall with speedy roll and great conditions. Previous review was correct in saying the speed was much faster than you would imagine.

Bunkers: Varied from good to great, some had fluffy white sand others had harder brown dirt-style sand. Lots of rakes.

ETC: Golf Fest ruined the atmosphere and the practice facilities were of little use. Carts had GPS. Starter did a good job in keeping everything as calm as possible. Overall, wait until you can get a good deal.

Played at the Presidio/Mission combo. Onto the conditions, The course is an overall good playing shape. Most two boxes were fairly lush and level. The fairways were in OK condition with some brown spots and lots of ground under repair. Greens were in very good shape the Presidio nine or much faster than the mission nine. Piece of play was pretty good in about four hours.

Overall the course is in good shape and ready to play.
