I have been playing this golf course 6 months after it was open and every experience is always been a positive one actually that's not true that was one time where the Greens have been punched and no one told us about it and the golf course made up for it by giving as a new round of golf so that part was a real positive this time out I purchased 8 rounds of golf and we show up and as always the experience as far as getting a vehicle and loading bags to cart and so on is always positive the golf course however absolutely a cow pasture. almost every tee block was in poor condition plus having to hit over equipment as workers had there vehicles parked that happened have a dozen times.the Greens many of them dying or terrible spots all over the greens the fairways not well maintained I mean just the overall experience and his golf course this time around was absolutely a minus 10 .I sent an email to the golf course advising them of this. we drive a long way to play this golf course and we drive there because we usually have a great experience but this was not one of them will come back but it's going to be quite some time I had eight players and we play on average of twice a week so we play a lot of golf throughout the year and we play in bad conditions as well as far as the weather so that doesn't stop us but course conditions will. I don't know how you rate this course but it was not accurate

Played on Saturday 5/16/15 at 4pm. We went out as a two some. Right away ran into slow play, quite frustrating waiting from tee to tee. Overall was good experience. Tee boxes need more grass on them. Course is challenging with occasional wind. What was very surprising was the groundskeeper came by around 7:30 warning us that we needed to end the round. Their was plenty of daylight left. I have never had a golf round end suddenly with daylight stay visible.

Played today (sunday) for $60. Slope is 134 off the whites even though it's less than 5800 yards. There is trouble everywhere so this course presents many challenges but the layout is very interesti... Continue »

Played today (sunday) for $60. Slope is 134 off the whites even though it's less than 5800 yards. There is trouble everywhere so this course presents many challenges but the layout is very interesting if not a bit tricked up. There are many elevation changes, creeks, ponds, bunkers and forced carries. The greens were punched two and a half weeks ago and most were 75% healed so it was tough for the flatstick. For a top-rated course and one that the LPGA played, the bunkers were surprisingly sub-standard filled with what looked like sandy dirt some with gravel. Once the greens heal I would go back again packing some course knowledge because it's so challenging. Check the weather because Vallejo can be windy especially when you are up in the hills like this course is.

1st I gotta say I didn't walk away from Hiddenbrooke with feelings of high praise. That surprised me a little. They hold quit abit of amateur and pro (Lpga) competition. My review is subjective of course so take it with a grain of salt.

1st off the practice green was lightning fast. I learned later they had it double rolled for a collegiate tourn the week prior. Then I get on the course and left everything short. Apparently they lightly sanded em all after the tourn. The practice green was so fast it had me spooked all day and I couldn't trust the speed, bummerish. That might not have bothered anyone but me however.

Next up the tee boxes. Tiny very uneven with massive damage, not sure if it could be attributed to the tourney or not, but considering their size I imagine they are always ripped up.

The greens did roll relatively smooth and were in great shape overall. The speed varied too much for my liking and the approach shots had me scratchin my head. There were 6 approach shots, Wedges-6 iron, that left no mark at all. The rest left a pitch mark an inch deep. Again this may not bother most people as it did me.

The fairways were in good shape, no complaints, the sand appeared to be in the better condition category but I didn't hit out of any that day. Despite the slope around the fairways the rough grabs a ball pretty well. It's long but it all stands straight up, not difficult to play out of.

So the course is not long. The greens are deceptively tough. It is difficult to see from the fairway where to land the ball. The course is all about the greens. There is some elevation to contend with on 3-4 holes. The par 4 's are short. The par 3's are mid/long. The par 5's are gettable. 3 of them are long par 4's basically. There are a few doglegs that call for a fade otherwise the tee shots are wide open.

I think I'd give this course a higher rating if it wasn't for my high expectations. The greens/tee boxes left a sour taste in my mouth, otherwise I'd say this course was really good. Also it was a learning the golf course day so it's rare you come away liking it as much as you would after getting to know it well.

The staff was very friendly I must say and the bag drop was convenient since the parking lot is a small walk. Oh and for those who care they have a grass driving range, not long but hey you don't see grass ranges much anymore.

I'd recommend giving this course a shot.

Played this course on a beautiful Tuesday in early October. The course was in pretty good condition. The fairways and greens were in very good. The tee boxes needed some work, at least the from the white tees. Some were flat, while others were not.

As others have reported, this course demands and rewards accuracy. Consider taking an iron off the tees of some of the shorter par fours. Also, take a look at each hole and figure out where you can miss your shot and still be okay, and where you will suffer. Many of the fairways slope from one side to the other, and you will want to hit you shot into the slope, so that the ball will release into the fairway.

The greens are tough to read and putt. Some are almost flat, while others have a pronounced slope. Some greens such as hole two, nine, eleven, and twelve will severely penalize a mi sh-t putt or chip.

The course was uncrowded the day I played. On the whole, it was a very pleasant experience. Service in the pro shop and Grille was excellent. Paid $44 with a cart for a senior rate. I would definitely return.

The starter was right up front and said they had just aerated last week and that there was still sand on the greens. I went out anyway because he said it would be $12 to play. I said I needed a cart and he said that was included. No brainer.
I really enjoyed this course. I bought the yardage book as I was told there were blind shots etc.. I received some good tips from the starter also. It was a late afternoon round. Did not see anyone out there til the sixth hole.
Some forced carries, great par fives, very stimulating lay out, was never bored out there. One slow moving foursome during the back nine kind of frustrating, because I knew there was nobody in front of them and they could care less about us waiting behind them. They could have let us play through and not even skipped a beat because there was no one behind us either.
The fairways were nice and the bunkers were excellent. Obviously the greens being aerated. This is a nice course, memorable. If I am back in the area I will definitely put this one on the list . I would not walk this course. Sometimes very long distance from green to tee and very elevated at times, nice views of the hills.

Played Hiddenbrooke just before Noon on 11/3/12 on an EZlinks special. Impressed with the drive in and clubhouse facilities. Well stocked pro shop, quickly checked me in and got me to the starter. This would be the last quick thing I would do for several hours.

Teed off on time at 11:50 AM, but found out in a hurry that groups were stacked and stacked in front of us. Made the turn in 2 hours and 45 minutes. The slow pace continued the entire round.

The course itself was in great shape for early November, which could be assisted by the last season warm weather. Greens were soft from recent rains and rolled true. Fairways were green and well manicured. My only course condition complaint were the tee boxes. Some were not level, some needed re-seeding or care. The rest of the course was fine.

The layout itself is a thinking man's course. Tight fairways, risk-reward shots, many holes that you have to think backwards and plan a course of attack. All in all a good experience, but I think I'll go back next time on a weekday and hope it is less busy.

Played here today at 1pm, 7/19/12. Played from the tips, very challenging course!! Especially when the wind picks up , which it did for most of the holes. Wind was approx 20-25mph.

Course is in good shape, fairways were good, greens rolled true however they just tined the greens so they had one inch slits in them. 18th green was the worst green as it was sandy and looked like they had done some work on it. Bunkers were terrible, either had very little sand or a hard packed layer of sand.

All in all, the course was in decent shape, not the best in the area but for what we paid, worth it.
