Played at 3:30 pm. Blazing hot 115 degrees and no one around. One of 4 groups on the course. Nice facility all around. Grass practice area with good range balls included. Zipper cooler stocked with 8 water bottles and fresh towels. Nice challenging layout, overall everything was in good shape, greens were a bit shaggy though. Things have a newly opened feel to them and there is almost nothing surrounding the course. I heard they are planning to build a hotel to add on. I don't know that I'd pay the rack rate of $115-125 to play there but it was definitely worth putting into a multi course play package.

I enjoyed the layout of this course very much. The heat actually wasn't too bad and there's bottled water all over the place which was great. The staff was very helpful and friendly. My only complaint was that there was a decent amount of "ground under repair" throughout the golf course, especially around the greens. However, the greens were is very good condition (of course a little slow because of the summertime). Overall, I really enjoyed this course.

What a great course. Very Challenging. Fairways tend to be average to open. However, a lot of bunkers and water. This is probably Palm Spring's finest course. Everything about this course is top notch. The only area for improvement would be the greens. They were yellow and burned out. Otherwise, WOW.

First time back here in a couple of years, I will definitely not wait so long again! The rates were $65, but with the RD Birdie card we payed 39. Staff was great, phenomenal practice area and just a kick ass course. Considering we are in the middle of summer, the course was in dynamite shape. The PGA plays here for a reason. It is a must play while in the desert.

Hottest round I've ever played 126, But great course, tough and really fun I would imagine in cooler weather. Slow drinking foursome in front of us and a demanding group behind us, very slow pace for the heat and that almost made us forget how great this course was, Marshall didn't help either by chatting up the group in front of us, incredible!!!!!
Troon needs to look into course staff here. Club house and lounge staff top notch, AC wasn't working in BAR??? Say what?

Great course in good condition. Very playable for all levels. Staff is very accomodating. Greens were hard, which made it somewhat dificult to hold longer approach shots. It was refreshing to see greens that were not full of ball marks. Good deals can be found on-line which make this a great value

Teed off at 7:30am. No wind. Beautiful condition and very good golf experience. Didn't receive the yardage book and ball repair tool that was promised, but didn't make a difference. Great course.

Would not play this course again. Go to Shadow Ridge instead.Yes, the groundskeeping is immaculate. Course requires your best shots but..... for this amount of money they lack a real attention to details. Cart girl came at the 14th and 17th holes. If you know the layout you know that you can't get back from the 9th. If you are going to charge $10 for a sandwich then you have to provide the service commensurate with the cost. I wanted something for a snack at the grill before playing. The girl, while picking her nails, told me that they ran out of it.....YESTERDAY! For this kind of cost can't someone do inventory daily? I asked for a forecaddy but the young girls at the counter never transmitted the message and by the time I was at the tee it was too late to get anyone.
The worst part for me was when I asked the manager of the course(who was very nice by the way) he could only suggest that I fill out a survey after my round because 'that would help him a lot'. What that says to me is that Troon Golf is a severely top down type of management that doesn't allow those front line people to make even the smallest accomodations. Don't they trust their frontline managers with decision making?
Now while at shadow ridge I had an axcellent exerience with excellent staff support by young but responsible attendants.

Played on Tuesday March 4 and the course was in excellent shape. Our forecaddy said the greens were running at 11 and he was right. Very good golf course that requires all your shots. Played in the morning before the wind picked up. Used last minute tee times and payed $109.00. I would recommend this course to all.

Played 1/22. Course was in perfect shape!! One of the best courses in the desert. Almost every hole is secluded from each other. Greens are rolling true as possible. Always enjoy this course!!

I just absolutely love this course...and I normally don't like courses with lots of water and it always being to the RIGHT. I've played this course several times, and have the following thoughts as to why this is a great course; first, the feel...they have planted thousands of pine trees here - very unique for the desert...and it feels like you're in Colorado or something. I just love this nuance. The course is simply immaculate...holes are generally fair and fairways are forgiving. A lot of diversity in the holes....I love to hit the drive and let it fly, and most holes you can do that here, even though there are hazards you have to pay attention to. The course borders I-10 on one side, and bascially pure desrt on the other side, so it really has a feeling of being remote and away from homes and people. Just love this course. I don't know how to describe it other than to suggest you add it to your desert trip agenda. One oddity; the last time we played they added a somewhat mandatory forecaddy. He was awesome, and very helpful and fun to have along, franlkly...but it does add a good $25+ per person to the round. I strongly suggest you go to golfnow.com and find some decent prices for this course.

Played sat 11/17. What a fabulous golf course. Very interesting track, in great, great shape, customer service TOP NOTCH. Cart path only today. greens were true but SLOW. But not shaggy slow. Just grainy slow. Slow, Slow. could not get the ball to the hole 25%short slow. Finally started whacking them on 11, and i was ok. Bottled water all over the course, cart girl every 3-4 holes, what a great, amazing golf day.

Excellent golf course but they have 3 temp greens right now. Too bad as the temps are on some of the best holes. Temps are horrendous.
Great service, range, greens and overall condition, just beware of the temps. They are easy on your score though!!!

played 7/5, the customer service was great with all the free bottled water it made to hot day enjoyable. The course was in okay shape, the fairways and greens are what you would expect in the middle of the summer. The sand was bad, it was rock hard.

Played on June 21st and there are some great things about this course and somethings that I expected to be better. The range and practice areas are fantastic, the putting green is exactly what you will find on the course. The range is grass and have to say is better than the grass found on the course. Practice balls are NXT Tours. There are free apples and water on the range, which is a very nice touch. The course itself was less impressive. Fairways were kind of on the hard side, and with over 30 acres of water on the course, it made for a long day and high scores. Even trying to play with conservative lay-ups didn't help. I had 7 irons run an extra 30 yards into water. Seemed like everything ran to the water. The traps were as hard as any I have ever seen, and it can't be blamed on the weather, two other course we played the sand was good. The greens were odd, looked like part grass and part mud, really hard to explain them, the breaks did not break, mostly had to be played as a straight putt. The customer service at this course is second to none. From the time you enter this course until you leave, you are treated great. They even went out to get my car in the parking lot for me, and then brought all of us (12) ice cold towels and water. Would love to play this course again when the conditions have changed. Bring LOTS of BALLS.

BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE AROUND! You get your own cooler with ice filled with bottles of evian. Not only that, you could restock new bottles of water at the comfort station every 4-5 holes(most golf courses would make you pay for your bottles or have one of those coolers that sit in the sun for hours). You also get fresh apples at the range. About the golf course, course layout and course conditions are good. A lot of variety of holes on this course. Even though the round took 5 hours, it wasnt the courses fault. Just the hackers in front of us. It would take only 4 hours max on any other day. Only drawback on this course is that there is no clubhouse. But construction is in progress. Should be done soon. Its going to be a huge one.

Summer's here! Played 36 on Friday 6/15 at The Classic Club - 105 degrees. Troon special $69 unlimited golf made it an awesome deal. The course is in excellent shape and ready for the heat. Don't expect lucious greens this time of year - they 'look' a little bare but they rolled very true. Speed was medium fast. If you bring your approaches in with a little spin, the greens will hold.

Excellent customer service. Water bottles available in the wooden boxes at 5 or 6 locations. I brought a small cooler bag to keep bottles cold in between. You have to hydrate this time of year. Two guys (19 and 55 yrs old) in our group couldn't go the distance. I drank at least 24 bottles of water over the 2 rounds and doused myself with a cold wet towel here and there to keep my core temperature down.

I've played most of the public courses in the PS area over the years (at this time of year) and currently feel Classic Club is one of the best.

Loved this course! Great layout, outstanding customer service and summer rates make it affordable. Best sand traps I've ever encountered...I found them often. Some brown spots in fairways but overall great conditions. If you can handle the Desert heat, I highly recommend this track.

What a great track, well worth the 65 bucks they charge for summer rates... Still building the Club-house and surrounding areas but overall a very fine course...

I would rather play golf in the snow in Chicago! I was disappointed after seeing it on TV for the Classic. Tough course, must be hot cause it was pretty brown. I'll give it one more shot next year...maybe

It is the best course that I have played and best for the money that I have played in a long time. I meet my son and his family in Palm Springs for Spring Break. We played the twi-light rate and we will play this course again. Much better that PGA West that we played last year. Being from Vegas, I thought it was a bargain.

I have never expierienced anything quite like this. This is the nicest course I have ever seen or played. There is no detail that is overlooked at this facility. Even the range was awesome. This is a must play no matter what. Not an easy course by any means, but worth every penny to expierience this. Awesome.

Wow! played here for the first time, 7:50 AM 1st group off. What a track! That 10 you see for condition and service and everything is true. This place has bumped someone out of my top 10 courses I wouldnt mind playing all the time. A fun day. It will bite you if you dont pay attention, some holes look easy, but they are not. A beautiful place.

I played here on 2/10/07 which was 3 weeks after the Bob Hope Classic was played here, & the course was still in PGA Tour shape. The course staff was top notch from the time we pulled in till the time we left. The driving range uses Titleist ProV1 and NXT Tour practice balls, and was in perfect shape also. The course itself was beyond prestine and lush, with lakes and waterfalls everywhere. The greens were super smooth and fast, the fairways were as lush and emerald green as you can get, and the layout was incredible. Every hole I felt was excellent, and very challenging. We played from the back tees and it was a challenge to say the least, but very, very fair, unlike the sister course SilverRock. All in all, just a great course, with a very courteous staff, and perfect conditions. Pricey, but worth it once in a while.

Great course. Fairways were very wet in spots, taking away from an otherwise great track.

'Played The Classic in the afternoon round on Thursaday, 06-22-06. This is a big boy's golf course and playing it must include respect for every stroke taken. You can't fall asleep or this course or it will eat you alive! Long, but you can choose to be on the short-tees.
*They must be having some water/maintenance problem in some spots as it is turning brown but it was still fine when I played it.
*This is a must play golf course and I can't wait to play it again. The fairways are fair, the greens are fast and can be hard to read.... a total pro level attention at all times... Yes! It will test your skills, patience, attitude... did I say it will test your skills? Yup!

I guess I'll chime in. Played here now that the summer discount is in. Decent course. Layout is mildly interesting. Lots of water!! Good driving is a must. Greens are big with subtle breaks, no dead elephants. Typical modern course PGA Tour guys want. Long, wide fairways, big gentle greens. Course has wooden crates where they store free ice water every 4-5 holes, thought that was nice touch. The course is very similar to SilverRock, with a little more trees. The trees right now are very small and don't really come into play. However, in 20 years, I think visually they will add to the overall experience. Greens are decent, but not pure. They're on the hard side, but they roll fine. So play it now, because it's only gonna get worse as we get deeper into summer.
