Southern California Golf Course Reviews
Southern California Golf Courses, Reviews, Aeration Alerts, Photos and Current Rates.Mid morning Oaks/Creek nines 4.5 hour round on a very windy day. The staff and pro shop are really nice. The practice facilities are adequate and well maintained. The tee boxes were all in good level shape with the exception of the par three holes. The second hole on the Creek was almost solid unfilled divots. The rough was cut down to a nice length but advancing from it was difficult and penal. The fairways are in excellent condition with total green grass coverage from side to side and great lies. The roll on some of the fairways was limited by the amount of watering. The bunkers were all full of decent sand but many needed a good raking and some were damp. The greens were all great with hardly any ball marks. They held shots well and consistently rolled true but were a little slower than usual. The course allows walkers and these two nines are great for that. Nice access to the freeway is also a plus.
Late afternoon tee time this past Friday at Rio Hondo and just can't talk about anything else up front over the POP disaster. I was shocked to look at my phone and see a 3+ hour front nine before grabbing a dog at the turn.
Fortunately the layout on the back nine works a little better in that regard so we finished at right under six hours. Awful. Painful. Aggravating. Is it time to consider some kind of layout change to avoid these messes? Stagger tee times more? I'm not sure, but it's not sustainable.
Okay, rant over. Course conditions are pretty good and the greens are fully recovered from the latest punch. They were rolling nicely and with consistent speeds, but too many people still not fixing their ball marks. How is this still an issue in 2026? Surely all the new Covid golfers have now gotten to the point where they understand this, right?
Fairways were a little thin and dried out but playable, while the rough was in good shape. Bunkers had enough sand in them to be functional, not enough to be enjoyable. Tee boxes were a hodge-podge of good and bad coverage, but they were all level and workable.
But for the love of God - please fix the POP issue.

Played yesterday, Sunday, 7am time. Walked the white tees, $50 civilian walk rate. Decent value for weekend golf. POP 4.5hrs, waited a little bit on most all shots. Busy course.
Conditions were just average overall. Many bare spots in the fairways but most proper landing areas are in fairly good condition. Played those bare areas as GUR for the most part, especially on number 9, fairway is really poor, but they're working on it.
Greens are still showing some signs of aeration. They did hold well struck shots very well, but were fairly bumpy. Medium to fast speed. No huge complaints, just not quite as nice as they should be.
Teeboxes were mostly level with adequate coverage. They're not perfect, but no huge complaints.
Bunkers were nice, decent fluffy heavy sand. I found two greenside bunkers and didn't have any issues.
There's really not much rough here off the fairways. Around the greens it's a little more prevalent and juicy, but not much of an issue finding your ball and hitting a nice chip shot.
Customer service is adequate, no frills. No beverage cart but not a big deal I bring my own large sippy cup with a beverage. Snack bar at the turn but I didn't use it.
We wanted to have lunch afterwards in their awesome restaurant bar area, but they are having such a bad sewage/plumbing problem, the entire clubhouse stinks sooooo bad. I completely lost my appetite the second I stepped into the clubhouse. The proshop stinks even worse!!!! I don't know how those guys in the proshop can put up with it. It's been like that for over a month, hope they get it fixed.
Easy recommend. I enjoy the South course here. It's a very easy walkable course, price is acceptable and I really like the layout. Some beautiful holes on the South, for sure.

RIP to the 2 significant trees on #7 and #8 that were cut down this week on Harding. The loss of the trees greatly impacts the quality and playability of the holes. The tree on #7 par 5 grew next to the lake, whose overhanging branches guarded long approaches hoping to reach the green in 2. Especially from the right half of the fairway.
The tree on #8 affected the high draw drives that were called for to hit the longest drives. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve flushed a drive that was pulled a smudge and was eaten up by that tree…argh!! (Good times).
Otherwise, the course has almost fully recovered from its aeration a couple months ago. Greens rolled true at a faster than normal speed. Fairways were full with not much rough. Several bunkers were on the this side but they are easy to get out of. I’ve always favored Harding over Wilson but combined with the loss of the giant tree on #16 last year, may have changed2 2 it too much visually and made its playability too easy.
I may be over reacting because we still had a fun round. Ha!

Played Mountain Meadows this morning teeing off at 7:50 with my tennis friends and it was a beautiful day. Pace of play was about 4hours 15 minutes so not to bad, didn’t have to wait too much to hit a shot. The course was in nice condition , fairways were in really good shape. Greens held shots well and they were not overly quick. I didn’t see very many unfixed ball marks which is a great thing. I was in one sand trap on the first hole and sand was fine, as for the rest I didn’t notice. I did see a great deal of walkers today but that didn’t detract from the pace of play so overall it was a good day to play. I definitely would recommend it.
Super fun time teeing it up with rgm2525, GDR23 and for the first time smurd21 at Spanish Hills Club. I don’t play as often anymore but when I get chance to play with a GKer I have not before, I love it. Thank you everyone that comes out to my events.
Spanish Hills Club is one of my favorite places to have a golf outing at. The course is very fun, challenging and always in great shape. There are beautiful views of the ocean on holes 15 & 16 and beautiful views of the mountains from the clubhouse and front nine. They have gorgeous clubhouse with excellent event services. Driving range is awesome and grill/snack bar rocks. Our Spanish Hills Club events always sell out, for good reasons. Read GDR23’s review below for a detailed breakdown of the conditions and his experience.
Be sure to consider Spanish Hills Club if you looking to join a club in Ventura County. You'll be very impressed!

Played 6/4. Course in decent shape. Fairways are pretty spotty, some good lies but also lots of thin or bare spots. Greens we nice but very slow. No sand in the traps. layout is good and the staff was friendly. Worth and occasional play but you do have to pay a $10 non refundable reservation fee (which is credited back to you if you show up).
I played this course Saturday May 30. What a beautiful course. The back 9 is extra tough but that's part of it. Everything was good.
One of my very favorite courses to play. I think the variety of the holes, coupled with the general setting of the course is extremely pleasing - fun, interesting, sufficient challenge, yet fair and not overly penal. There are so many holes which present somewhat of a unique perspective, not found on most other tracks. Condition of the course was about what I have come to expect. Greens had nice pace and rolled true and were receptive. Good coverage in the fairways. Did not find any bunkers, but all appeared well maintained. Staff is always friendly and great to deal with. Highly recommend this course. Wish it were closer to my location
Great round this morning 6/1/26 riding with buddies Ron and John joined by gker Richard who was a pleasure to meet and play with. Group 1b under beautiful 75 degree weather with about 1.5 clubs of wind today. Our Pop was around 5 hrs keeping up with the group ahead. They had their downhill range on mats and had a nicely sloped putting green nearby the 1st and 10th tees. My second time here as I played a while ago in 2008 with a buddy. Really enjoyed the layout which is tight in places but looks tighter off the tee vs when your in the fairway you realized you had a little more room to operate. Found many tee shots you are hitting over a rise to a hidden fairway in the distance. A bit more dogleg left to rights here at Spanish Hills. Plenty of greenside bunkers, fairway bunkers and out of bounds to keep the best players honest. They also have a couple water features on holes 10 and 18.
The greens were in great shape very quick true rolls. Would say close to a 11 on the stimp but holding irons nicely. Surprisingly a bit more undulating then they look on approach. Rated 9/10. Star of the course.
Fairways were in above average shape with most all lies in the fairway padded nicely with some minor brown grass here and there but mostly green lush lies. Rated 7.5/10
Tees level and in above average shape. Rated 7.5/10
Was in greenside bunkers on #13 and #16 that contained firmer clay like sand with enough base to hit out of. Rated 7/10
Not much rough on this course and it varied in length depending what hole you were on. Found the rough about a foot or so off many fairways and the lies were great. Rated 7/10
Looked like the facilities were nice and all staff encountered were friendly. The proshop was small but adequate. They did have a snackshop/bar on the range which was pretty cool. Views from the golf course especially the back nine were amazing. If you have an opportunity to play here jump on it. Recommended.

Played yesterday, Thursday, May 28. Showed up at 3:15pm with my buddy Stephen and got out on the North at 3:55pm. Not a bad wait. POP started out slow, but we managed to finish with just enough light to see our balls on 18. Total POP right at 4hrs. Walked the white tees, $43 civilian rate. Totally acceptable and worth the green fee.
Most everything except for the greens is in great shape!!! Teeboxes, nice and level. Very little divot damage. They've been working on the tees lately and it shows. In a couple more weeks these teeboxes will be absolutely perfect.
Fairways were fantastic. Good roll out, very little divot damage and lush all around. No bare spots and just a pleasure. Visually stunning, as well.
Found one fairway bunker and it was very hard pan, not a big deal. Found two greenside bunkers and they were perfect. Nice fluffy white sand. No problem whatsoever. A joy to play from.
Rough isn't too penal right now, but it is fairly lush in most spots and just makes you focus to hit down on the ball, maybe choke up a little bit and grip it a little tighter.
Greens were really the only downside. They're still recovering from aeration yet are still very firm. Tons of unfixed ball marks. They weren't completely awful, but definitely need some more work and time to get back to their glory. Once they get these greens healed and fixed, the entire course will be stunning.
Customer service in the proshop just fine. Didn't see a marshall. They don't have a beverage cart as far as I know. The snack shack closes at 5pm, so beware. Good thing I brought some beef sticks and a couple beers.
Highly recommend, as always. Especially in another few weeks if they can get the greens figured out. We will most likely be back in two weeks to walk the South, it looks in good shape from the road.

My first time playing Diamond Bar since the remodel. I have to admit that I was impressed by the overall experience. The greens were much improved over the "original" designs. Much more interesting. Never a fan of the old #9 par 3, so glad that has been changed2 2 . While the course is basically the same as it was, the changes are all positive and makes this a far better track. Condition was better than expected. particularly the greens. I was never a big fan of the course, but I feel the improvements have made it a much better test and far more enjoyable to play.
