The South 9 was really great in the important areas. Tees, fairways, greens, sand all extremely nice. The East 9 was quite a mess with lots of bare spots in the fairways, and the greens battered by ball marks. Very unusual to find a course with such different condition between adjacent nines.

The layout is nice. For a course that only measures in the 6600 range it plays really long. Par 3s go from 115 to 215 (thank goodness that 215 didn't play to the scorecard listed 235). Par 4s up to 460. It is a very playable course with a few hazard to bite you.

If you do go out on the east, be sure to pause and enjoy the huge backyards on the east edge of the course and imagine yourself living there and setting up a nice 150 yard pitch & putt course in your backyard. You don't see that in SoCal often.

I will give Morgan Run a guarded recommendation, just be warned that the East needs some focus at this time. The South is great, and the North (closed this day) looked comparable to the South.

Played out here today in the first of two GK Review Guru groups paired with sparky14, Rat-Patrol and Rudyclub. Good times! Employees were all extremely friendly to greet us to the club. Started right on time around 2:30 and I really don’t know what time we finished… about 20 minutes before the sun set, I’d guess. We played the South & East nines.

Conditions are definitely a tale of two nines right now. South was nearly pristine with some of the best fairways I’ve seen in a long time, other than a few random problem spots and some areas that were roped off as GUR. Greens on South were smooth and quick and accepted full shots really well. Rough was nasty deep grabby kikuyu in some spots, putting a real premium on hitting the fairways. Other areas of rough were thin and/or some bare areas too. Blue tee boxes on South were excellent. Sand was really nice, some of the best I can recall in recent memory. Compared to South, East felt more beat-up. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were all a significant step down from the South nine. (For instance, fairways I'd say were a 9 on South, 6 on East.) Not bad but just sort of average muni course conditions, and the greens seemed much more pock-marked with ball marks on the East.

This was my first time here. Sort of a cool old-school vibe around the clubhouse that reminded me a bit of Pala Mesa or even some mid-tier Palm Desert clubs. Housing surrounding the course varies from attached townhomes to palatial estates with gargantuan backyards that back up to the course. The course itself relies mostly on length and a meandering creek/penalty areas bordering many holes and crossing a few for its challenge. It’s very flat, but the greens have some decent movement to keep things interesting. The upcoming Golf Moose/GK outing is on the South-North combo, which seems far superior to the South-East combo (at least in current conditions). North was closed today but we drove around it after we finished and it’s in really nice shape like South and seemed much more interesting than East.

Went out Friday morning as a 2some and not really knowing what to expect after the rain the previous day. Checked in and was told the driving range was flooded and therefore closed. They had a chipping and putting area for practice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Cart guy came out with a cart and loaded our clubs from the parking lot. Assigned South-North combo as they have the 3rd 9 hole course closed.

Behind a 3some so there was waiting for pretty much all day. 4:45 POP. Saw the cart person a few times but no course marshall seen. Carts have no GPS so bring your own.

Course conditions. Did not rate as given the rain the previous day, the course was pretty much wet and under water in a lot of areas. CPO. Course certainly does not drain well.
Greens were decent and rolled well. Saw some course maintenance try to drain some of the bunkers.

Having played some of the courses in the area, was a bit of a let down of the course. Only a few holes caught our eye and the rest were unmemorable.

Hope to try this again in the future but not something I would seek out.

Played here with my friend Robin a day after crazy storms in San Diego area, so the course was cart path only for the day. Also as a result of the rain, the driving range was flooded so it was closed, which was a bummer given I wanted to work on some things. On the positive, the chipping/bunker/practice green areas were in quite good conditions. As for the course itself, we played South/North (the rains flooded East so it was walking only), and we got stuck behind a 4some and 5some. Pace of play still was good at 4 hours, but if the 4some wasn't betting on every green we easily could have finished in under 3.5.

Overall conditions were average. The greens were in great shape, not too fast or slow, possibly due to the recent rain storm. But not a lot of ball marks which shows at least the members tend to repair their divots. The fairways were in rough shape though, lots of patchiness and brown all around. Was surprised at how poor overall they were in. Same can be said about the tee boxes, which were full of divot marks, and grass that was so tall we called them "fluffy"--not what you want to tee off from.

Appreciate the pace of play, but you can find better condition courses for the guest rates it'll cost you to play here. (Also, in what world does a 4some who are gambling on every green not allow a twosome behind them to pass?)

I played Morgan Run twice in the past week. Due to a club affiliation, I played for $25. I really like this course, (three 9's.) Wonderful configuration. That said it's in the worst shape ever, due to the greens being "burned up." The East 9 is closed, new greens going in. The South is the only survivor, the greens there being decent, but kind of slow. The North are very bad with long strips of new turf replacing the dirt/sand. Many areas had 2-5" bare spots in between puttable areas. Thursday there was one "temp" green, just a large cup with a 15' painted circle in front of the reg green. Enough on the Greens. The Fairways are Lush & as good as you get. Tee boxes are very good. The rough is also great shape, thick & tough but fair. The bunkers seemed hard under a thin layer of sand. All that said, this course will be back to great sooner rather than later. The girls in the Littler lounge are great with a good selection of food & drink. I'll be back.

Customer Service: friendly staff at the bag drop, Pro shop and starter. Excellent service in the Gene Littler lounge after the round. We all had the typical sandwiches or salads which were very good.

Great practice area: driving range, two chipping greens and two putting greens.

Now for the course, WOW, best condition I've ever seen this place.

Greens: smooth, medium speed and firm.

Fairways: the best I've played on since Rams Hill, like a carpet.

Rough: 1-3" high with some bare spots

Traps: above average condition compared to most traps in the area.

POP: at 4 hours

Have not played here since 2000, which is strange given this is a Club Corp course and I can play here for free. I just never think about this course. That said, I can kick myself, because everything about the course was wonderful. The staff was PERFECT, course conditions are some of the best I've seen for a while.

Greens, fairways, sand, everything was first class. The course itself is not all that outstanding, but with such nice conditions, it was a joy to play. I played North to East. The East course was not in as nice condition, because some of the fairways were still "growing in".

My only complaint is they do not allow play before 7am,and even then, you can not play faster than 1 hour 45 min per nine. (I finished the front in 1 hour 15min, even playing two balls, and I was held back from going to the East for 30min) Otherwise, a beautiful autumn morning on a beautiful course in a beautiful part of Southern California

Pace of play was very good, the starter seemed to be able to maneuver everyone around to keep the switch-overs at the nine-hole junction running smoothly. Played a San Diego Senior league match on the South/North combo on Friday, 6/3 in the AM. First class service, friendly/helpful Staff. Greens: smooth, firm and medium to fast speed. Fairways: excellent condition, the ball sits up nicely, no hard pan lies here! Traps: plenty of sand. Rough: 1-2" high with a few bare spots. POP: 4 hours. Excellent practice area, 2 putting greens, 2 chipping greens with plenty of practice ball and a good range. Not a very exciting layout but a enjoyable very well conditioned course.
