Played in the GK plays at Desert Willow! Course is in awesome shape. Lush fairways smooth greens soft sand. For me a perfect combination. Didn't play as well as I would want but managed a decent round. 6 pars is less than normal but 2 were sand saves. My highlight for the day was my bunker play.Got out every time including a couple in the waste areas. Love soft sand in greenside bunkers and made the best of a bad situation. Putting was decent and overall the short game was working but struggled with long shots. 93 was not what I was hoping for before my knee replacement but hope to do better when I get back on the course. Thanks Johnny for a fun day!

QUOTED  My final posted round for 2019 and how cool it was being my 20th round to give me a complete 2019 index at 9.0.

Said I was not going to keep score but now that I'm in the habit of doing it I did anyway. Shot an 81 from the Purple/Lavender combo tees at Desert Willow Golf Resort Firecliff GK Plays. Was only 5 over after 13 holes but then finished double, par, bogey, par, bogey. So I guess I'm keeping score again unless my game goes south - LOL.

I played the Combos this weekend at Desert Willow- Started off with a knee knocker 5ft putt miss for par then rattled off 6 pars in a row. Unfortunately I ran into an issue on the Par 3 8th.... Hit a pin high towering shot but just tugged and found the water. Drop went off the back of the green and left me with a terrible desert lie. 2 putts and a double par! A bogey on 9 left me with a 41 so Still in good shape. Back nine was good except par 5's where I took a double and triple. Add two more bogey for a 46 and a 87.

I'm not mad and I blame the CBD wearing off. Phil Mickelson didn't say it would wear off! HAHA have to blame someone.

Well, we had good weather, Saturday, but that was all I had that's good... I'm driving the ball okay.

Johnny, I hope you continue to play well and keep score if that's happiness.

Thought Par 5's were your bread & butter?

41-44=85, 32 putts, 8 fairways, 7 GIR, 10 pars, 5 doubles (UGH!), 3 bogies, no birds (again UGH!). Another relatively stress free round, with just some slight mistakes (Balboa eats slight mistakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner) and only one horrible swing. There are signs of life.

I think its more of the driving and longer par 5's lately.

It's official. I've now reverted back to 2013-14 form when I first started playing the game. Five of my last seven rounds have been triple-digit scores, and the last three in a row, at Rancho Park, CrossCreek and Brookside #1, respectively. The other debacles? Those were at Knollwood and Calabasas CC. I have no tangible explanation for this ridiculous dip in form after getting down to my lowest ever handicap just last Oct-Nov. 2019 has been and continues to be an utter disaster on the links. Today though was a big step as I finally committed myself to a full round with my new and (hopefully eventually) improved grip. After a few range sessions trying to get comfortable with it, I finally let loose, although Brookside #1 may not have been the best choice as a test track, but have to start somewhere. There were some positive signs for sure but it will be much better for me to accept some poor scores for a while instead of beating myself up over them. Have to stay positive and keep trying to have fun above all else. But that's so difficult when the scores just keep exploding. Sorry for the rant but I'm almost to the point of just laughing now, and that may be the best thing for me.
