Let's cap off 2019 with some great golf!

My plans start with GK Plays Rams Hill a week from today then a full day of Palm Springs golf on Monday. Likely get out to Vegas the following week and down to San Diego the week after that. I know in December or January will be heading out to Scottsdale. Going to line up GK Guru rounds in the process. Good times!

Rancho Vista Golf Club had been closed since Thursday, Thanksgiving day because of snow last Thursday... lots of the local plans to play had been canceled. Not sure when it will open again, but it won’t be tomorrow.
I guess many of us are left out sitting at even par for the long weekend

After a LOT of golf in November at some great courses, December will be scaled down but started it off with an 80 yesterday at the Celebrity course. Driver kept me in play and irons were rock solid (like they were at Mission Hills the other day). Yesterday marked the third round in a row without a 3 putt, so threatening to bench the Ghost putter after Cypress Ridge paid off!

Had a meaningful practice round at the Classic Club yesterday, but posted an 86.

Shot an 88 today at Eagle falls. My streak of good play seems to be over. I had 32 putts but didn’t have a 3 putt until the last hole which was a three putt par some bad drives killed me on my 5 doubles

I played Rancho Vista yesterday. I struggled with most of my game but kept my cool enough to eke out an 87. My drives were all over the place and I have not been able to hit an iron very well lately.

I did hit a great drive (for me) on Hole 18 from the white tees. I hit a nice, high slight draw that caught the speed slot down the sloping part of the fairway. It was about 280 yards in distance and I had a chance to go for the green in two with my 6-iron. Too bad I did not hit it well and came up 20 yards short. I was able to chip on and two putt for a finishing par.

Looking at my card, I started out with a series of doubles before I settled down and posted all threes, fours, and fives, with the exception of Hole 13 where the abominable snow man came out to play.

I am looking to play Moorpark CC next Friday, so I hope I can get some game back by then.

GK Weekend had me playing as much golf in 2 days then I sometimes play in 3 weeks which was nice.

Played Rams Hill on Sunday from the gold tees for the 1st time and really enjoyed the layout. Played with Pedro, Keith and Ron. Had some really poor inconsistent ball striking in stretches including a ugly double on 18 for an 80. Only real positive were 3 straight pars to start the front nine and 5 straight par's to start the back nine.

Played Indian Wells Celebrity for the 1st time on Monday morning from the blues with John, Ron and Pedro. This course jumped into my top 3 courses ever played. Hit 12 greens and played with the same ball all day just bombing the driver down the middle. Finished with 2 bogeys and 1 birdie for a 73. Highlight of the day was our group posting 3 under on hole 12.

Finished up the trip at Desert Willow Firecliff playing the purple tees with Nick, Ron and Pedro. My second time here. Enjoyed the layout even more the 2nd time around. Other than a really poor drive on 6 and a couple loose wedges played some good golf with the same ball hitting 11 greens. Had 2 birdies and 2 bogeys for a 72.

Enjoyed playng with Johnny, Nick, Pedro, Ron and Keith. Thanks to Johnny for setting up incredible deals at beautiful courses for the GK community.

After scoring a 96 at Rams Hill, a course I can typically score in the low to mid 80's. My highest round in about 3 years, I had to get that feeling out of my blood. I love Eagle Falls and was jealous of the other GKers that recently got to play it. So, I grabbed my nephew and headed out there. I really enjoy that course and was able to record a respectful 81 with two birdies. One a 3" tap in that just stopped short of holing out from 142 on the 10th. Glad I was able to redeem myself.

Finally put together two really solid rounds in a row at two 'real' courses and was somewhat bummed out this past weekend to have to sit out playing any golf thanks to a prior Spartan Race commitment which meant there would be no time (or energy) left to play any golf. Momentum and confidence are such huge factors in my game so I'm worried that I will have dropped some of that mojo by the next time out, but I'm hoping that's not the case.

Rams Hill was a very solid outing for me with 10 pars and 5 bogeys. Two blowup holes cost me dearly though and I had to settle for an 86 after going even par the last three holes to finish strong. On 18 I went fairway, fairway bunker, greenside bunker, green, 20 ft putt over the ridge to finish with a par. I was pumped after that one. On the front nine rattled off five straight pars from holes 5-9, so that always helps. The 9th hole was quite an adventure as what seemed like a pretty easy and short tee shot ended up in the desert right of the cart path and well above the green, but I chipped it out from a decent lie very nicely and sunk the long 15 ft putt to keep the streak alive.

Had a fairly similar round at Rolling Hills Country Club last Thursday, but played this one from the Copper tees (second back from the tips) as opposed to the white tees we opted to play at Rams Hill. Started off solid enough finding a long sequence of fairway-GIR that was good for four-straight pars and headed into the ninth hole at just 3-over. Doubled nine though but came right back with a par on 10 before the rough patch began. Putts that were falling earlier stopped falling and three 3-putts on the back definitely hurt my final score. In the end shot an 87 but was also nice to see at the end of the round that I hit fairway on the first 8 holes of the round - never done that before. Then again, the first par 3 at RHCC is the ninth hole, so go figure.

Playing Encino this weekend and hopeful that I can keep up the confidence level and bring in an even better score on this drastically less difficult track.
