QUOTED  I felt that way when they caught a lengthy pre-shot conversation between Christy Kerr and her caddy at one point during the U.S. Open. I was very surprised -- especially for a player who seems so headstrong -- at how much she relied on his direction, unless perhaps that is just her way of making sure they're on the same page before she hits.

Christy's interaction has been discussed at length before, in her case her caddie is more a consultant in that she tells him what time it is and he borrows her watch and tells her what time it is. The relationship as I understand it is a mirror of confirmation, rather than directive.

QUOTED  I see that some of the LPGA players have simply made themselves the vehicle for which the caddy steers. Not sure if PGA players take it that far.

I've seen plenty of instances...on both tours...where a player cannot step up to hit the most basic of shots without engaging in a drawn-out dialogue with their caddy. Do they lack that much belief and self-confidence in their ability or is this just another instance of the "modern approach" where the sports psychologists have instructed them to seek positive reinforcement from their "teammate" on the course?

And it extends far beyond club selection; nowadays, the caddies are stalking the greens as if they're the one with the putter in their hands. But what bothers me most is the practice of using the caddy to align a player with their target, whether it be on the tee box, in the fairway, or on the green. The LPGA is the biggest "offender" in this regard and I'll be glad once the "training wheels" are removed and that part of the pre-shot routine is no longer permitted.

QUOTED  There are some players who are actually aligned physically by their caddies.

Won't be allowed in 2019 if the ruling is accepted and changed.

Never mind, sometimes people only want to see what they want to see based on the view through their own personal prism that is only colored by their own personal experience. THEY TELL THEM WHAT TO DO! Like robots they program them to deliver a particular outcome (shot). I'm sure it is rare, but . . .

Exactly Chris, I personally experienced it while watching the broadcast.

LOL You can't change it and you can't run from it. What you originally wrote, quoted above, IS he definition of human opinion. You watched the broadcast and your interpretation of what you were seeing is based on your own experiences seen through your own prism. Someone sitting right next to you might come away with a different take for the same reason.

Besides what you first wrote wasn't based on one single event- it was apparently based on your perception of multiple LPGA and PGA events. I just happen to have a different perception of those same events. Who's right? Well here's the rub- without actual facts, someone following every single player on both tours and taking notes on the golfer/caddy relationship and publishing them, we'll just have to agree to disagree because we're both right (based on our perceptions from inside our own prisms! LOL)

Chris? What is your point? All I did was repeat what was said on the broadcast.
. . . and where did I move away or run from anything? You seem to be responding to that which is not there.

. . . and oh yeah the announcer said it's, "Mostly the Korean players that do that.", he likened them to race cars with a driver, believe me or not.
