It may be the same rationale stated by their RSM neighbor: first priority is protecting their staff's health and safety. Ojai Valley may have the same feelings. Don't have any inside info tho.

Santa Barbara County is currently a partial Phase 3 opening track. Large venues in the county remains closed. I would not expect any of the high traffic public, or private, courses to open in the next 3 months for a few of reasons. 1) the number of hospital beds per capita is extraordinarily low 2) percentage of county full time residents are categorically at-risk, and 3) keeping destination venues closed better safeguards the county's bubble.

That must explain why Glen Annie and La Purisima are open.

So some public courses are allowed to open and others are not within a few miles of each other in the same county?

The goal has always been long and straight! But since I can no longer hit them long, hopefully straighter could be achieved more than occasionally?

If y'all are viewing each course's metrics individually, the picture becomes clearer.

Glen Annie is not a destination course. Their bubble, or risk of contamination from outsiders are considered low.

Sandpiper is a destination course. It attracts a great number of players from across country lines. It's tee sheet is heavily populated. The contamination risk is considered high.

La Purisima is also a destination course (43 miles north of Sandpiper). Attractive to many players from outside of its bubble, the course does not generate the volume of players from counties where contamination rates are considered high (i.e. Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc). The contamination risk are considered manageable.

While a business may be able to open under a State, county or local guideline, there are businesses that elect not to open. Exercising social responsibility by keeping their employees and community safe under these trying times.

Stay well y'all

I am terribly sorry? But your premise makes no sense. It would if you backed it up with facts? Or metrics as you say? But you merely make statements and then do not back them up with facts? You are entirely within your right to say what you have said. I am totally within my right to agree to disagree with your theories.

Oh and BTW. Please check with La Purisima and you will find that a HUGE volume of players come from the LA area. And on a regular basis. I happen to be one of them. So the contamination risk would be high if such contamination #'s are factually used. But they are still open, so the contamination risk must be low?

Have to agree with 24hourgolf, that for me La Purisima is certainly a "destination course" far more so than Sandpiper. I drive from south Orange County to play there ! In fact I had a tee time set for 7/7/20, but postponed because of the recent restaurant closures. Hoping to get back there in August.
