2nd swing is advertising a ping g425 9* with the trono 65 stiff shsft for $740. Since you know the combo you want shop around for a reputable on line source or get the parts and make your own. Sound Iike club champion is gouging you for the shaft. If the combo works and you like it, there are other ways to get it. 2nd swing appears to be a reputable on line source.

Thanks, I saw their commercial on the PGA broadcast yesterday and checked it out. They are selling the shaft alone for $410 and $210 with the set up. C. Champ was $475 for the shaft, $450 for head plus $150 build. My one concern with 2nd swing is " are they original or knock offs ?

I will give you some of the tips I have come up with, after having fittings done at numerous fitters from your bargain guys to tour level fittings:

-Outside fittings are the most ideal, no ifs ands or buts. Folks will tell you otherwise, but youll never get the same interaction on a mat that you would on the grass. If this isnt an option, then you will be limited to indoors.

-Go with a generic fitter, not a brand specific unless you are deadset on playing the brand. Youll get so many more options to choose from, not only the clubs but the shafts and grips as OEM parts as well.

-Dont commit to buying at the fitting, have the fitter give you the detailed information for your build. Get a second opinion on the build cost and decide which to do. Sometimes its cheaper to go through the OEM rather than the fitter.

-If they place you in an upgraded third party shaft, ask the fitter what a comparable OEM model would be. Sometimes the OEMs have free shaft upgrades that are similar and wont cost you a ton, heck some even offer their version of the shaft for no upcharge.

-I'll never recommend a place like Roger Dunns or PGA superstore; the quality of the fitting just wasnt as good as Cool Clubs, Tour Spec, etc.

-Always ask the fitter to reset the Trackman/Flightscope/GC Quad to all defaults. Sometimes they juice numbers to get you to buy.

-One thing a fitter/builder will do compared to an OEM is match swing weights across the board more consistently.

-PURING your shaft is an upcharge not needed anymore, every fitter will try and sell you this.

-Ask the company ahead of time, will they provide a printout or email of the specs after the fitting? If the answer is no, run... run far away. I have heard of these fitters not providing details because thats their key in the business; any reputable company will give you what you pay for and most worth a darn wont care if you take the specs elsewhere.

2nd swing does allot of tv adds and allot of you tube reviews, just my opinion but I would think they are OK.

I play with two gentlemen that play with custom-fit drivers that paid over $800 dollars for their drivers and they both hit them less than 220 yards and shoot in the 90's...money well spent?

Possibly...if they were used to hitting it 190 off the tee and shooting 110+.

First ... A laurel and hearty handshake to everyone who has volunteered their personal insight. It has given me additional perspective on a tricky decision. I still haven't decided where to get fit. I'll let you know how it goes, and if the experience is worth the money.
