Jeff, not to get pedantic, but you probably want to credit Robert Von Hagge for Bajamar as well, unless you prefer the two original nines. Von Hagge added the Oceano nine in the '90s while Clifford created Lagos & Vista in the '70s.

Pedanticize all you want Mark I was wondering if anyone would question what I listed but I've only played the original Lagos/Vista layout, which I should have stipulated in my original post. Is it too late to hit the "EDIT" button?

Played Clifford's original 18 at Bajamar about a dozen times when I moved here in the early 80s but course conditions steadily deteriorated to the point where I last set foot on the course some 30 years ago. I was aware that Von Hagge routed the Oceano Nine...which, as I've been told, is quite a stunner...but I haven't been inclined to make that drive in order to experience it first-hand.

I am new to this forum and have played quite a few of the old standards like Bandon, Pebble, St Andrews but leaving them aside here are a few of my favorites from the journey:

Bethpage Red, NY
Old American, TX
Palmetto, SC
Yocha Dehe, CA
Northwood, CA (9Holes)
Huntercombe, UK
Swinley Forest, UK
Hadley Wood, UK
Cape Wickham, Australia
Royal Melbourne, Australia

Going to Scottsdale in a few months and hoping to play WeKoPa, Quintero and Wickenburg.

There are many courses listed in this forum that are unique because many people participating have not had the opportunity to play in Australia, the British Isles or specific states back east. However, if this were just a So Cal ranking system, there is a good consensus of opinion. There are 8-10 courses that continually show up on different people's personal favorites list.

I also find it interesting how some designers courses fit some of our eyes better than other designers courses. The same could be said for many of the better known designers.

The goal has always been long and straight! But since I can no longer hit them long, hopefully straighter could be achieved more than occasionally?

Royal Melbourne and Cenntenial Parklands golf courses in Australia are on my "return to" list of golf courses I didn't play. For whatever reason, during my cycling travels we ended up riding/racing around a lot of nice golf courses and now that I've traded out my Sidi's for FootJoy's I want to return to some of those beautiful locations and actually PLAY the courses.

But, since as Nick mentioned, the world revolves around Southern California (sorry I couldn't resist) I have now included a great a So Cal course which easily moved into my favorite top 10 after playing it last week.

Here are mine.

1. Pebble Beach
2. Spyglass Hill
3. Kapalua
4. Aviara
5. Indian Wells Celebrity
6. Ka’anapali – Ocean
7. Spanish Bay
8. Sandpiper (new T-10)
9. Ka’anapali – Mountain
10. Blackhorse
