Greens in good condition (compared to what I've read). Only 2-3 greens has excessive damage (more than I could count/fix). Stealth bumby (bumpy, but not an obvious mark). Too soggy, but sprinklers were going off anyways. Tee boxes were soggy, rarely level.

Hometown kid who plays most of his golf at Brookside and Santa Anita. I've got to say that I prefer Santa Anita. The greens always play way too slow, they're rarely in very good condition. Also, the undulations in the fairway, especially on the more extreme holes like 9 and 18 tend don't drain very well the valleys are always either drowning or brown because all the grass is dead. Ad some drainage and the course could play much better.

That said, this courses biggest problem will always be the greens, if they could find a way to speed them up, and then cut the grass shorter around them, the crowns would make this course alot more challenging. i really think they shoud add a few more bunkers to this course, especially at holes 3(fairway), 7(fairway), 10(fairway), 14(fairway), and 18(green). also, the OB on 13 has to go, one of these days i'm just gonna sneak onto the course and pull out those stakes myself.

but, overall, a solid course where you really feel free to swing away on most holes, due to the wide, parallel fairways. the greens are quite plain however. best bunkering of any muni in the area. and best of all, there's enough room around this course that if they cut a few trees down they could easily add 500 yards to it.

Played super twilight 6-10-05. It's been a long time since I played this course. Walked on today, and props to the starter who didn't waste anytime moving people off the waiting list. I've always liked this layout; super wide fairways, some undulation, elevated greens, but once you're on, the greens are not severely contoured. The course is in B+ condition. The fairways and tee boxes are fine, a few soggy spots. The greens, however, had just been aerated, so the ball wasn't rolling at all. This is a very solid course, particularly for the price - just don't show up on a weekend...it'll be a 6hr+ round.

We play this course every week in a league, from April to October. We see the course over a long period of time, on a weekly basis. We wish our home course was as well maintained. Although this is a county course, with LOTS OF PLAY, it is always in great shape. The greenskeeper and staff consistantly do yoeman effort in keeping the course, not only playable, but a treat to play. For the money it is a great buy, and a jewel to play. I have heard on weekends that play is slow, but that would be, considering the price (cheap) and the numbers of public players. It is well worth playing, especially during the week.

Played here 4/25/05. Course was in pretty good shape excluding traps (no sand) and greens which are recovering from aeration. 4 hour round is nothing to complain about.
