First off, I'd like to thank the course management for taking the time to respond to my post about course conditions. This is exactly what a public forum like this should be used for. Constructive criticism met with well thought out answers. Yes, they've improved the range. Yes, there is a new clubhouse. All positives. But, it's important to know what the feelings of frequent players are. Nobody is bashing; we're just letting our voices be heard and hoping for a response. We did that, and got it. Thank you. We'll look forward to those improvements.

Part of the frustration for myself and my fellow players is that we've played SJHills long enough to remember when they did overseed the fairways in the winter. And when they did, the conditions of the fairways were top notch. So, it'd be one thing to complain about something that was never done, but to see the practice halted and simultaneously see a bunch of $ spent elsewhere on the property, well, that's where the frustration sets in.

Nobody is making threats or bashing. We're just hoping to be heard. We love the course (read my numerous reviews; all consistent and mostly positive). It's a place we can call home. We'd just like to see the home in a little better shape.

And for those of you commenting on the "value." With a Creek Card, everyone in your foursome can play, with a cart, for $50 at Tijeras Creek. That's the exact same price that San Juan Hills charges. Right now, the conditions at Tijeras trump The Hills. That said, if I had my druthers, I'd still rather play, with my good friends made at the course, at San Juan Hills.

Thanks for your time and attention.

p.s.: look at the photos of San Juan posted, BY THE COURSE, on their greenskeeper.org page. Particularly hole #7. Dated 1/22/04. THOSE are pristine conditions. That hole does NOT look like that today (Jan. 2010). And it's not just cosmetics we're talking about. It affects lies and therefore, shots (well, maybe not on a par 3; although many of my friends have hit their 2nd shots on #7 from that area tween tee and green:-)).

This is a good read in response to an older post review of the course. The response to the following note is above. In any case, i'd like to follow this threads of intentions to improve the course and finally or hopefully try and get a few guys to play it and see.

Response to t25452 from Management:

As always we appreciate the honest post from t25452 and he should know we use his feedback (good and bad) in our weekly staff meetings.

As he noted we have just completed an extensive renovation of our driving range including the additions of a new 13,000 sf grass hitting area, new practice chipping green and fairway/greenside bunker (on the back end of our range) and new target greens throughout the range. In addition, we are completing a remodel of the clubhouse that will include a new kitchen, sports grill, large banquet/tournament room and outdoor patio. The clubhouse and golf course are 100% open during this remodel.

Thanks for pointing out that the greens and tees are in excellent condition and I will add that the majority of the fairways and roughs are also in great condition for this time of year.

Regarding the fairways. San Juan Hills is constantly trying to improve turfgrass conditions throughout the course. Currently we are undergoing a Bermuda fairway turf restoration project and unfortunately there are a few areas that have not been completely restored. I want to assure our golfers that we have identified these area and you will see continued improvement in the coming months. In that effort, we have again budgeted significant additional dollars for this project and have a new fleet of maintenance equipment on order that includes a few new machines that we did not have in the past. We will not let our friends and customers down!!

Thanks for your continued support!!
