Played here this morning in an SCGA Member Outing. Originally, we were supposed to play Andalusia, but the venue had to get changed and fortunately it was at another course I needed to play. 7:30 shotgun start and we enjoyed a nice pace of about 4 hours. Our group (same foursome as the morning round at Ironwood Thursday) started on the 4th hole.

The course was in good overall condition, though definitely showing some wear this late in the season. The tee boxes were excellent. The fairways had some brown spots here and there, but mostly provided great lies. The rough also a bit spotty in some places, but again mostly nice. Cut down and easy to hit from. The bunkers were a tad crusty. The greens were very firm and basically in mid-transition to the summer bermuda base. Speeds were a bit inconsistent, but putts rolled pretty smoothly.

It was clearly not peak season prime conditions, but still good quality and you can tell just how sweet this place probably looks in winter with everything being lush and perfectly manicured. I believe this is the only Jerry Pate course I've played and I definitely liked the layout. Plenty of nice undulation in terrain. Wide fairways that were Fazio-esque. Then, a lot of elevated and well-protected greens (false edges, deep bunkers, run-off areas) that reminded me a lot of the Nicklaus course at PGA West or some Dye courses, only bigger in size. Definitely around the greens is where you will find the most challenge here. Definitely worth playing if you get the chance!
