I play at Santa Barbara city college, so I get to play "muni" a lot. Last week was the first time I had played there in a while however and was suprised to see the greens were really good. Not a lot of marks and running really quick, for muni, and smooth.

It's always a little slow because it's the only cheap public course in lower SB county but it's a great course to walk and helps in the pace of play department.

The fairways were a bit "skinny" but overall it was in good condition

Played today 1/15/09 and found the course was in great shape. May have been the new management that improved the overall feel of what was always a fun layout.

Greens ran true and were in great shape as were the bunkers and the overall look would never have you thinking that this was the middle of winter.

12:45 was plenty of time to get in a full round. There are elevation changes with very tall directional flags since some of the greens can't be seen from the fairway below or above, There are no GPS on the carts but our Skycaddie really proved its usefulness here. Very helpful in determining distances to blind targets.

We like the course and it's well worth the drive. You would never realize that it's just a few yards off the 101 freeway. Play it and have fun!

There were some dirt patches along the fairway and no cart girl. Pace of play was great as we done in 4:30 hrs. We played on 9/25 at 12:15.

Played June 6. Played here several times in past. In very nice shape for city course. A lot of play, a lot of ball marks. Still good greens, made a bunch of puts. A little slow.

Mid-morning tee time on 2-9-08. This was my first time playing this course, and I really enjoyed it. The weather was absolutely perfect today - about 73 degrees, clear skies, and little wind. Consequently, the views were terrific. Mountains, ocean - one can't ask for much more. The course has a a very cool little pro shop, clubhouse and grill. It's well maintained and quaint. There's a mats-only driving range with limited flight balls for warmup. I give the course layout a B+. A few boring holes, but also some really well-designed ones. 18 is pretty d%mn picturesque. #10 is pretty interesting - it's a 150 yd par 3. You park your cart in a little turnaround directly adjacent to a large patio/grill area, and today, there was some kind of reception going on, so a lot of people were drinking and socializing on the patio right next to the tee box. Sort of a PGA Tour FBR Open feel. Thankfully, none of us chunked in front of this large crowd. We played from the blue tees, and while the course isn't very long, it plays longer due to the fairly severe elevation changes. It would be very difficult to lose a ball here. There isn't much trouble anywhere off the tee - virtually no hazards, no water, no rough, no giant stands of trees. You can spray it around and still score. The greens were in C condition; smooth, but slow. Bunkers were solid, but the tee boxes were average. Overall, I liked this course; it has a good open feel to it and a good vibe about it.

Late morning usually avoids the crowds. Greens have been getting a little slow and used lately but they are scheduled to be aerated and improved soon. New fairway bunkers on holes 3, 11, and 12 are annoying as they do little but slow down pace of play. Holes 5 and 17 are a bit obnoxious, but usually offer uphill approaches. All three par 5s are reacable in 2 with decent drives.
