Course is in incredible condition. It's Ireland green. Boxes are good, fairways are great, rough is juicy and bunkers are nice with new sand. Great tale of two nines but like always POP is the downer here. Played a 5:20 round last week, couple weeks before that 4:50. The marshalls have this bogus time sheet that doesn't get anyone to play faster. Sad part is the staff seems to fully accepted that 5 hour rounds are the norm. Always say "You have to come out on a Monday/Tuesday morning early to play under 4" ha ha ha.

Played Tijeras creek at 6:45 this morning. This place is LUSH right now. The fairways and rough are in as good of shape as Ive seen the course in a long time. The greens are nice but a recent verticut and sand top dressing made putts extremely slow in the early morning dew. All bunkers had plenty of new heavy sand in them. Course is hosting the RSM amateur in 3 weeks and the course will be fantastic. Definitely recommend playing out here after the rain comes through this weekend.

Played today 12/19, The course is looking very lush. Greens were nice and smooth and rolled med to fast. The fairways were nice and green. It appears that they are letting the roughs grow out as they were around 3 inches or more in height, making it somewhat though to find your ball if you fly it to the rough.

Greens #9 and #18 seem to be under maintenance as they oversanded the fringe areas of the greens., however the greens itself were fine. The bunkers had nice fluffy sand. Overall POP was slightly over 4 hours.

Course is in great shape and it's always fun out there but there is always an issue with pace of play. The last two times I've played I've left after a 3 hour front and played a 4 hour and 40 minute round on a MONDAY. Marshall doesn't really do much except drive around and tell you that the course is playing to the time they expect it to. This courses pace of play is normally bad but this time it was terrible.

They are preparing to aerate next week so some of the tee boxes and fairways had already been tilled.

The greens rolled fast but were in good shape. The bunkers appeared to have been completed and contained fluffy sand. Staff always friendly.

Note driving range will be closed from next week to early November for reseeding.

Played today 10/3. Even though I am a Creek Card holder it’s been 6 months since I last played here at Tijeras Creek mainly because course conditions have been terrible. Today with the encouragement of a Creek Card holder I went to test the waters. A bit to my amazement the course was not that bad. With still a lot of improvements still I’m progress the greens were Nice and better than its competition Arroyo and Telega! Fairways had dry spots and a bit tougher to play the ball down. Sand trap improvement are nearly completed just need a good rain or two to firm them up. With all the new sand the traps are soft. The most notable thing about the sand is there are no rocks! Time to start returning to the Creek until they punch again at the end of this month (last week of October)

Played this afternoon, with a 2:32 tee time. Got a decent $45 'senior' rate via their website. Pleasant greetings by the starter/pro shop guys. Good service from the cart girl. Pleasant marshal was by a few times, keeping us posted on pace/progress in front of us. Good service after the round by Eric and his team in the bar.

Now, sadly the best part of the golf experience was that after 2 1/2 hours on our first nine (started on #10), things did pick up on the 2nd nine and we finished just under 4.5 hours total. This and the tees were the best part of the golfing experience.

Fairways and rough were in mediocre condition. Some decent green areas, but well-suffering from dried-out conditions and over-watering in large areas. Very inconsistent tight lies, but w/alternating patches of grass v. bare dirt v. overgrown fairway grass.

These conditions were far better than the greens, however. We saw about 1/2 that appeared to be punched only hours before we came by, not all were lightly sanded. They were not rolled, and the punch holes and attached debris provided enormous height variation from the base level of the greens. Needless to say, it was an adventure/nightmare. Very slow, and should likely be treated as an 'automatic 2-putt' they were so bad. Very slow, the ball would often literally bounce an inch into the air even after the speed was down from the putt, and/or careen off-line by 2-3 inches as it slowed near the hole. WHAT A MESS!

The greens that were not punched were still a bit bumpy, but manageable, and medium-slow pace.

The 'bunker renovation' that started in June and was supposed to be completed by the end of August. They did not meet that goal. There seems to still be at least 5, maybe 6 holes to go. According to a gent in the pro shop, he didn't think they'd be completed in anything less than 2 1/2 weeks. My guess is another month, maybe longer.

Not unhappy about playing TC today due to the rate and my love for the layout, but pretty disappointed with the lack of progress on the bunker renovations, sad overall state of the golf course (e.g., Costa Mesa and San Juan Hills are in MUCH, MUCH better, condition imho), and no warning on the punching of 1/2 the greens by any staff. From a golf course management perspective, they really do seem to just want to take everybody's money and treat golfers as basic punters at times.

Still glad I did not renew my Creek Card for 2018 and am soured on upping up for it in 2019 now. Will not look to play here again until well after they punch the course for the fall/winter season, November or December, I guess by the time things heal.

Played 8/8 in the morning. Not much to add to previous reviews. I would summarize by saying the conditions on the front 9 vs the back are night and day. Front has bunkers under renovation, beat up/uncut tee boxes, and a lot of greens with divot marks and/or bad fertilization. Greens on the front were incredibly slow. Fairways were hit and miss throughout both 9's. Rough was fine.

As a Creek Card holder, rate was $65. I dont think I would pay any more than that right now, and if youre thinking about making the trip from out of town, I would certainly consider other tracks first. Not horrible, but the course needs some time and healing.

Staff was friendly, saw refreshment cart 2-3 times, and Clubhouse temp was fantastic on a 93 degree day.

Played 8/7. Greens better but quite slow. Fairways just OK but given the hot weather, understandable. First hole bunker renovation in process. WARNING - Foundation of the new bunkers is solid cement! Looks like gravel but it is solid cement! The entire bunker right up to the edges is solid cement. OK if you are in the heart of the bunker because there is 5 inches of new sand. But any lie near the edges will hit cement because the sand can only hold one inch near the edges. WARNING - you will damage your club and hurt your wrist if your ball is near the edge. Tested the new bunker on hole 2 and confirmed this condition. WARNING - BE CAREFUL!
