played last sunday 8/24. It was very hot. Only saw the cart girl two times during the round. Also, it seemed like the lady at the snack shop wasn't really paying attention to my order and messed up my burrito. However, course is in good shape. Not sure if I should go back or not, I will have to pray on it.

Played twilight, excellent course played in just over 3 hours. Length is not an issue here, but accuracy is. Great finishing hole with pin playing back right as was that day. Great opportunities to Golow if you hit fairways.

I played this course on 8/6. I was very impressed with the condition of the course. The greens were in great condition and fairways well manicured. Nice place to play.

I played the course on 8/1 and the courese was in very good condition given the summer heat. The staff was pleasant and courteous. The course is a pleasure to play and well worth the money.

Played last Saturday (7/26)...not much I can add to the glowing reviews below. The place is in amazing shape...considering the steady heat Norco has had this Summer. The fairways are so wonderfully lush...the ball sits up just right....greens are receptive to all shots except a skulled three-iron (don't ask!!).

Finished in 4.5 hours....played lickety-split for the first 15 holes. Hit the brakes hard on the tee of the par-three 16th. Sure enough...one group had fallen way behind.

But hey...a Saturday at the Goose is better than almost anything I can think of!

We lost two of our usual Saturday foursome due to some last-minute and unforseen "parental duties"... and one case of "the gout"...the starters worked us in with another twosome of great guys.

Note: No fivesomes. What a great concept!

Keep it up, Goose Creek. You're #1 on my rota for a good reason!!

Played Tuesday 7/29 -
Let me tell you - you hear all of the talk about Goose Creek and you got to play it, or just played goose creek and loved it.

I am hear to tell you - Goose Creek Golf Club lives up to all of the hype. It delivers and then some. See the surveyor remaks on the page.

Walked the entire course, shot a decent score for the first time every playing the course. The practice facility is perfect - They have a game type putting area (like Golf in Stuff) and then they have a large green to really work on your game. Chipping area - so on and so forth.

The club house has a clean look - it is not fancy and it looks small until you get inside. It is a glof club house - not a big club house with a lot of stuff everywhere, this place was good for golfers.

Tee'd off at approx. 2:30pm - and finished @ 6pm - Is that under 4 hours? It felt like we were just strolling along with no wait or anything. Not really rushing but, not waiting.

First couple of holes I thought man this course is nice on the front 9 and then the back nine was just as impressive. The fairways were cut good, the sand traps were in great shape. The greens were in great shape. The course was challenging the mind, and required shot making abilities. An old scholl golf dream. The wind was up but played to our advantage on a lot of holes. The wind did create some problems on the back 9.

Staff was very attentive - we just had an earthquake, they didnt want to shut it down becuase they couldnt take money becuase the machine was down, so two staff members stayed until every golfer came in and was charged - Golf first pay later? Good service.

If there is any golf course you want to play that is not expensive - this is the one. Put it on your list of courses to be visited. Hopefully I am coming off as this was the course of a lifetime, or this course was amazing? If so, add about 5 times more to your thoughts and that is how beautiful this course represents itself.

PS.
Bloddy Mary's are STRONG and GOOD - :)

agree as usual with most reviews, BUT, and this is trying to be helpful, the greens are tired, time to put the pins in those crappy spots, make us whine for a week,,, but it will get the traffic off the regular spots. Time to heal the greens. Lots of ball marks today,, Hummmmm. Staff was great, course looked and played as usual GREAT. We will be back. Fix the greens.... they need rest.

Range and practice area: Excellent!! Putting green, practice bunker and chipping area are first-rate

Tee time: 7:00 A.M.

Actualy tee-off at: 6:57 A.M.

Fairways: Perfect. Lush, green, perhaps a little wet...but that's how they keep 'em lush and green in the heat of summer (it was 97-degrees)

Greens: Held all shots well....rolled true. A few extra ball-marks...but we fixed all of them (you're welcome) They look awesome!!

Pace of play: Not-too-fast, not-too-slow. Finished in exactly 4.0 hours.

Went out by myself about 11:00 am today and with no one in front or behind me I was able to drop 2 or 3 balls down at a time and practice shots and Yes" I did fix my divots". This is a great track and if you haven't played it, you must. Always in great shape. The Pro shop staff is outstanding and easy to talk to. Mr. Jim Dames is one of many golf staff workers there and he (Mr. dames) is very professional in handling customers. I can see why this Course is always booked. Great weekday rates and Senior rates. This is a must play Course. While most Courses are starting to brown up because of the heat, Goose creek is still able to still keep there fairways green and lush. 3 cheers for the Greenskeeper and maintaince workers (the unsung heroes) of the Course.

Played Tuesday 5/25 6:50 tee time. Course is in great shape, great day for golf. Weather was cool, no wind, ground fog when we got there but cleared up by our tee time. Conditions on the course were great, greens were a bit slow, 8-9 on the stimp according to the starter. But rolled good, just had to hit them firm on uphill putts. Fee was $39 can't beat that, plus we played in 4 hrs 05 min. Cows are completely gone, understand that half that property will be used by the golf course, don't know for what yet, and the other half will be left alone, cost too much to clean the cow urine and other waste.

Played on 5/14 and as always course was in excellent condition. The wind was blowing so it made for a difficult round of golf. Still teeboxes, fairways, and rough were perfect; greens rolled very true if on the slow side, unusually slow for Goose Creek. This facility is probably the best run operation in the Inland Empire, great driving range (all grass), range balls in almost new condition, large and udulating practice green. Ross Fischer has been overseeing this course since it opened and he deserves the thanks of everyone that plays here for the first class facilities and fair green fees. The entire staff at Goose Creek try to make sure you enjoy your day on the course. Course layout, except for par 3 holes is challenging and interesting, five par 3's and they all play about the same. Without question a must play.

This was my first stop in a week full of golfing at new places. I played here the first time on Tuesday 5/6 after reading all the great reviews, and it lived up to all the advance billing.

Conditions were great! Had a slow group in front of us but overall a great place I will add to my list of regular places to play.

Well this was my first time at Goose Creek and let me tell you it is awesome. The tee boxes were just about perfect, the fairways were exceptional, the greens held shots well and ran true, and the sand was great. The one and only complaint we had were all the d%mn flies. If you go here, bring some bug spray it will make a world of difference on the green. I will definitely be back soon and I recommend you try it out if you haven't already.

Well...I must admit that I first thought I wouldn't enjoy this course because it didn't have waterfalls, creeks and all that other fancy stuff other courses offer. But after playing this course, I was mistaken. It was a breath of fresh air. Open play, course was forgiving on people like me. Some courses think that the harder they play, the better they are; Goos Creek kept it simple. BTW...I hit a monster 274 yard drive on the 18th hole.

Played Monday afternoon with my visiting brother, We were paired up with another couple of guys who were very pleasant. Pretty warm, but drank a lot of water and not oppressively hot.

Course was the same old same old -- well conditioned throughout. I particularly like having nice, grassy, flat teee boxes.

Good pace. We were the slow ones.

Played there for the first time after reading great reviews on this course. I must say it's all true. The course is getting into great shape after being punched few weeks ago. Excellent service and the amenities offered are nice. Very good practice range, better than the Hidden Valley's one nearby. I will return when it's little dryer and hotter to test the green speed. It was a little slow for me yesterday. However, the course is manicured well and I do love their finishing hole.

For the past several years, fellow golfers have urged us to play this course, and we finally got that chance last Monday. From the time that we passed through the main entrance, I was impressed. The course just has a special feel about it. Walking up to the clubhouse, I was giddy just looking at the expansive practice areas. (I could spend the whole day just working on my game, here.) As for the course, well, I'd just like to thank all of those folks who said, "No, really...you gotta go play Goose Creek!" It's good fun, and it's in immaculate condition. I played from the white tees, and it looked like I was the only one who has played from those tees. They were immaculate. Now that I think of it, though, so were the fairways. The greens were medium/fast and there was very little divot damage. That was a nice change. The course is fun because it offers you some risk/reward holes that make you scratch your chin a little before you pull a club. Further, the fairway and greenside traps definitely keep you honest throughout the day. They are very well placed. The afternoon wind was also a factor, and I suspect that you will almost always have to contend with it if you choose to play in the p.m. hours. The only bad part about playing this course is realizing that it has to end. Good luck to all!

First time playing here.

Played from the tips and shot even par!! I needed a little more local knowledge. Next time I'll break par here.

Great course. Very fun track.

A couple of demanding par three's.

Greens are almost fully recovered.....give em a week and a half. But they roll pretty good and are not very bumpy at all. Afterall, I was making putts left and right out there.

Great service in the pro shop and all around. We didn't have a set tee time, just two of us. The head pro Brian, took us out on the course and paired us up with another lone twosome on the fifth hole. He even let us finish on the fourth so that we could play an entire 18 holes.

Really good Breakfast burrito at the snack bar.

I will be back for sure.

Living in riverside I've got to know the "The Goose" very well it by far is one of my favorite courses. Unfortunately the Goose gets alot of play making it hard to get a good tee time So Ive shied away and played other courses in I.E. Now next time I stray, I can boldly say " could of had a Goose Creek" because from Tee to Green Goose Creek is one of the best tracks in the I.E."

Played today 3/31/08. This course is in excellent shape. This course always seems to be the best in the valley. The greens were punched last week. The ball rolls nicely even with the sand still present not bad at all. The greens should be perfect in another week. The grass in the fairways is cut nice and the rough is probably 2". For the money I dont think you can beat this track.

I have mixed emotions abou tthis course. I have more cus. service issues here than with any other course (maybe tied with sierra lakes). But the course is always in good shape, with questions on the greens. Almost every cup had putter damage from people using them to remove the ball. There were also hoof prints all over the place even on some of the greens, strangest thing i have seen on a green. Except for the greens the rest of the course is in great shape. Not worth $50 when the greens are trashed, but worth the 35 or so the seniors pay.

The Goose is - right now - playing in as good a condition as it has ever played! It's almost perfect...too bad they have to aerate the greens over Easter...I know it's a necessary "evil" this time of year...but - if you can sneak out some time this week and play Goose Creek...do it. It's playing over its current rating...I'd bive it an 8.5 overall - - and the fairways are a 9.0!

4.0 hours on a Saturday morning! Got out for our 8:46 A.M. starting time at...yep, you guessed it: 8:46 A.M. - - and we were enjoying drinks in the bar at 12:46 P.M.

As always...the people are great, the course is near-perfect...and we saw the cart-girl 4 times!

Got out right at our designated tee time as a twosome. The course was in great shape, fairways lush and beautiful, greens smooth and somewhat fast. It was pretty windy when we first teed off, but it eventually died down about mid-way through the round. What a fun course!! Drove 65 miles to get there and it was worth it!! The only complaint I had was that they need more ball washers; they were only placed about every third hole.

Well let me start off by saying the Fairways were in excellent condition. The greens at times were a little bumpy but overall was very happy with the condition of them. There is a good reason why Goose Creek G.C. was rated BEST Value "Worth The Green Fee" in the Inland Empire by Greenskeeper.org Members & Staff!! It's a great track in better-than-average mid-February conditions...and even on weekends and holidays (like today, President's Day) - it's a mere $75.00 (incl. cart) to play. What more do you want? What more do you need??

Greens were not as smooth as they've been in the past. A little bumpy...but not bad. A tad slow for my personal tastes...but - they are in good shape and no overt ball-mark damage on any individual green. Perhaps people are getting the message and actually fixing ball marks properly?? Looks like it to me.

The fairways are lush and whatever over-seeding variety of grass they used this last Fall is still quite green...very little of the course has gone brown/dormant.

Sand in the traps was 85% good...perhaps a little wet in spots, but certainly better than most local courses.

The rough is not so long that it punishes you...but you still better keep it in the short-grass to score well.

The 18th is still the finest finishing-hole in Southern California for my money.

Now...the one downer for the day: Even though they had posted a warning sign in the pro-shop that said "No cart service today...sorry for the inconvenience"... Come on!! It's a freaking holiday!! There should have been ONE staff person available to make a few trips around the course.

Oh, well...if that's the only think I can find to complain about...that's not too bad!

Current Greenskeeper.org rating is about right. I'd say "not quite an 8.0" - - but it will be in Spring!

The greens are good but not great. The rest of the course is in great shape! It is rare that I give 10's. The bunkers and rough where 10's in my opinion. This is a very enjoyable course. There are many options of the tee to hit the fairway and avoid the bunkers and red staked hazards. You won't see many flat putts out here. Range finders come in handy here because of such large greens. There were some nasty pin placements today.

Lost my "regular" game this morning...so, yesterday, I called The Goose to make sure there were no tournaments going on today (Saturday, 2/2/08) Got a hold of Jim at the pro-shop...who told me to arrive early, and he'd do his best to get me out as a single.

We'll - - he did a heck of a job. I arrived at 6:15 A.M. The first tee-time was 6:25 (first decent light...and he put me with the second group off the tee. We teed-off at 6:41 A.M. (I checked my watch)

Three hours later (9:41 A.M.) - we were putting our clubs in the car.

Yes. You heard me right. That's three (3) hours for 18 HOLES!! THREE. Not FOUR. Not FOUR-AND-A-HALF...certainly NOT FIVE!! That, my fellow Greenskeeper.org members, is how long it should take to play a round of Saturday golf!! If everybody would just keep up with the group in front of them...golf would always be this enjoyable!! Way to go, early-Goose-Creekers! Keep up the fine pace!!

Now the course: Despite some of the earlier reviews: It's really in pretty good shape, considering it's the dead of winter. No "thin" lies...good coverage in virtually all of the fairways. It's not as "pretty" out at the Goose as it will be in March and April...but, overall, it's in good cold-weather condition. I'd say 7.5 to 8.0 is about right...not as good as it CAN be...but - still - a great course at a decent price.

As was said before...the greens were freshly sanded...a little too much sand for my tastes...but it should "settle in" in another week or so. Dusting the greens is a necessary evil this time of year...

The sand in the bunkers was smooth and a'plenty (don't ask me how I know this or how I found out!) and is as good, quality-wise, as any course around.

Some of the rough was pretty thick. Stay out of it, if possible.

No complaints.

I love the "Goose" but I thought the greens stunk! Hard and bumpy! Otherwise the course was in reasonably decent condition, given this is the dead of winter. But when the greens are in such "questionable" condition, takes a lot away from what is otherwise a wonderful course to enjoy. I'm sure they will improve as the weather improves. (I hope!)

STAFF: Well, both OSCA1961 and I showed up on Sunday morning around 7:00 a.m., we didn' t have a tee time but after reading the reviews we really wanted to play here. The starter got us out by 7:30 a.m...KUDOS! to the proshop they were great, friendly, and very professional.

FAIRWAYS & GREENS: We had to start on #10, it was 31* around 7:00 a.m., so they opted to put us out on the back nine since apparently the greens defrost quicker on that side. The fairways were immaculately trimmed, rough was about an 1" high, but it was coooold! Greens were about a 9 on the stimpmeter since they were still frozen, slowly they started to defrost but the ball was not very receptive on the greens in that weather.

BUNKERS: I was in the long fairway bunker on the first hole (#10) for our purposes as described above...it was pretty soft, caught the ball clean and hit the back the green. The ball spinned about 30 feet, leaving me a 12 ft for birdie, but missed!

OVERALL: The course is in great shape, not too many pitchmarks on the greens. The divots have been kindly replaced by fellow golfers with etiquette or at least reseeded. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to get out and enjoy a beautiful PGA quality course!

Played on 12/28/07. All in all, a great course...great par 3's and a lot of tee shots and second shots that make you really think before you hit. Dog legs left and rights and strategically placed hazards will determine how you play the hole. Greens, fairways and tee boxes were all in really good shape. Very demanding 18th hole...I'm sure a lot of money has been won/lost on that hole! Didn't like to pay holiday rates for a Friday round though, but still had a lot of fun!

Played Goose today (12/19) and it was cart path only due to heavy rain the night before. As usual, staff was top notch and course was in excellent shape, albeit a bit soggy. Despite the heavy rain, greens were running quite fast. The pins were cut closer to the edges of the greens than I've ever seen them. Will be back on Sunday...

Great conditions. Greens very fast. Some dead spots in fairways but still are great. Frost delay. We didn't get off til an hour after our tee time and they were starting on #10. but, all in all, a good day.

I think this place has the best grounds crew of any public course in SoCal. Basically in great shape all but 20 or so days each year, when they punch greens and aerate fairways.

Played on Saturday, 12/11/07. It had just rained the day before, and we started out "cartpath only". But the marshall came by, after checking the course and said that we could use the "90-degree" rule for the rest of the round...but to be careful on #6. Imagine that. A marshall who actually does his job and treats golfers like adults! See...this is why we like Goose Creek so much. The staff is top-notch, the course is (as of last Saturday) in the best shape it's ever been in (the greens are now "awesome" in my book!)

Four hour round on a Saturday. Not too bad.

Looking for a good track outside of the expensive tracks near Newport Beach. Played Pelican Hill in Newport two weeks ago for $240 and this was just as good a track for $80. The fairways were also in better shape. It had just had two days of rain so the course was lush but not wet except in a few places. Very nice experience with great service for a very good price. The course is bordered by some streets with closeby homes. We heard loud music playing for several hours Sunday afternoon which was a little annoying. No easy snack shack at the turn. If you're looking for a solid track with true but not overly fast greens then Goose Creek is your place.

excellent!

tees were all level and nice.
fairways were all nice.
rough was nice. not too penal-2"
greens were nice. pretty good roll. not too fast but not bad; maybe 8 or 9
ball marks were minimum.

over all:
the staff was nice, the course was in excellent shape from tee to green
they allow you to walk also so i enjoyed that also. it's definitely a walkable course.

play this course if you haven't. i highly recommend it more for
low to mid handicappers. it's not a killer but definitely gives a consistent challenge. it's a thought provoking course.
anyone who is an 18+ should know they will be challenged.

enjoy

played friday, 11/16/07...were the first group out on the course at 6:00...course is in great shape...rough, fairways, and tee boxes are in terrific shape...the sand was wet in some of the bunkers, but that can be expected at that time in the morning, and even though it was wet, it was soft...a few of the greens had some bare spots...noticeably, holes 2 and 18, but it was towards the fringe, and didn't really affect my round...also, the grounds crew were working on it, so they should be fine in a little while...

this was my first time playing the course, and i loved it...its a course for all players...eminently playable for mid-handicappers from the whites, but a beast from the tips...i liked how a lot of the holes had risk reward elements...also, many of the holes had large bailout areas and welcoming landing areas for errant drives or safe-play tee shots, but it would leave you with longer approaches into tough greens...

all in all, a great and fun course to play...too bad its so far from south orange county...

Great Course to play. Got there early on a Saturday and played the course in under four hours. Greens were in great shape, fairways good but sand traps need a little attention. They were a little wet and very hard. Which is good as you can play them like thin rough. A couple of the tee box yardage markers were missing. The pro shop staff told us the hole location for the day was A but in fact it was B, so a little confusion for a couple of holes. This great course should have GPS on the carts or better yardage markers on the fairways. Overall one of the better courses we play. Thanks

Played Tuesday, 11/13. Only complaint would be there are some greens with dead areas. Front right of green on #2. Most of the front of #5. Some of#15. Right middle of #18. Dead, brown areas with missing turf. On #2, the pin was very close to it. Other than that, great conditions. Greens were pretty slow. Slower than usual. Probably letting them grow cuz of heat.

Returned to the Goose and all is well. Indeed, the reports are true...the cows are gone...the Alta Dena dairy is being dismantled...I would guess that wall-to-wall tract-homes will be there in a few years. I wonder if there will be any methane problems...anyway...on to golf:

The Goose is looking REALLY good. All of the winter-rye has taken well and the fairways have never looked better. The over-watering of the Summer is over and I can't say enough about the overall conditions. The greens are not perfect, but they roll true and seem to hold all sots well (except a skulled gap-wedge...they still don't seem to hold those wery well.

Again, the Goose rises to the top of "value for your money" scale.

Unless you really need variety in your golf life (I know I do...that's why I have a regular rotation..) - WHY golf anyplace else??

I'm now going to re-rate the course...the current Greenskeeper.org rating SEEMS a little low to me right now.

Played Friday 11/9. This is a great golf course. The conditions are always good. The only miner set back is the greens are lightly sanded (not punched) but playable. The design of the course gives the golfer something to think about off the tee with well placed fairway bunkers. Also mowed collection areas around the greens allow golfers to play different shots onto the green. Be sure to check the pin placement (A, B, or C) it can definitely affect club selection.

I did play the Goose today, havent been here for awhile, you can see where the wind played havoc with the place, trees blown over but no fire , all trees in play were already cut down and cleared so was not a problem sad as they were grown trees. . Fairways were good, greens were a little sandy, made ya think they would be slow, not true. Tough greens today, smooth and very tricky. Dont play so much **** break. Staff was great, Hey Cheesburger, I bet I know what happened to you yesterday. We teed off around 10, followed by a semi large group called the old dragons or Golden dragons or something like that. After 4 holes they were never to be seen again. 3 maybe 4 holes behind. I really dont care as they were behind us, but I felt sorry for the groups in back of them. And I am sure the starter didnt know that maybe 4 tee times were lost. Also the cows seem to be gone,,, a good day at the Goose.

I actually DIDN'T play Goose Creek yesterday. I had planned on it. I was looking forward to it. At 10:00 A.M. I even called the pro-shop from the 10 freeway in Ontario to see if they were busy. Was told that if I got there after 10:30 - there would be no problem getting me out as a single. Arrived at 10:30. Four-group back-up on the first-tee...and 7-8 people on the waiting list.

Anybody who knows me KNOWS that I worship the turf that Goose Greek is built on.

I bailed. I got back in my car. I played Hidden Valley instead.

C'mon, Goose People! You know better than that! There's no need to fib! If you're sold-out or busy or have a fog-delay...tell us. We're big boys - we can take it. There are now too many good choices along the 15-coridor for you to start pulling that hen-house $#!+ !!

I was not a happy Cheeseburger.

But I will be playing the Goose on Saturday at 6:56 A.M. Hopefully I will have good things to say.

Great course. Play it alot. We played Friday morning (10/19). I'd say it's still a week away from being perfect. Fairways were a little thin due to overseeding (lots of cart path only; we were walking so didn't matter) and the greens were still bumpy from aeration, although the holes have grown over. Not bad, but not perfect, yet.
Right edge of 18th green has a big bare spot in the green. Pace of play was not good. Took five hours. Problem is folks go from #9 into the clubhouse to get food, take their time, and then there's folks hopping in and out cuz they've lost their place on the course. They need a snack bar at the turn. They'd make a killing. There was a marshall on course who politely told us he was trying to move folks but it was to no avail. No biggie. But, if you play here, don't go for food at the turn and screw up everyone else's pace. Pack a snack!

9/28 9am tee time, the Goose is under repair, fairways are scraped, maybe 5 of them but still very playable. Funny, unlike the way overpriced Orange County courses, the Goose keeps on playing with great greens and good conditions at a fair price. I did enjoy Foothill Ranch's comments on the Goose. Anyone that liked Dos Lagos and hated the Goose is tops in my book. Dos Lagos will soon be Condos its soooo bad. But it will keep the Goose and Trilogy and Eagle Glen clear of crowds. $58 for senior at Tijeras Creek in the middle of houses when its in bad shape is a great deal, just not for some of us.

Thanks to Cheeseburger I was able to play the goose for the first time today. Also was a great benefit playing this course with someone who knows the course throughout and was always right on with direction and avoiding trouble spots. [and what short cuts to take for an easier round]
Great course as everybody mentioned, greens were very receptive and rolled nicely. The fairways were very very nice. Fun course to play, I hit all but one club in my bag. The sand traps, which there there were many of, and they were huge, were a little wet in places but were very fair, and raked. The greens are pretty large, so the pin placement map on the scorecard is helpful. Teed off either on time or a little early, and the pace was great. 6:51am tee time, and still the snack cart girl came by twice during our round. That was nice. They are working on the course it seems four holes at a time, stay off of fairways, but it did not take away from the experience at all for me. I will definitely be back to redeem myself on the last two holes!

Notes on this morning's round at The Goose. First of all...thanks to Mike (thingstodo on GK) for joining me for the round. I posted my time...and he used the "Find/Post Tee Times" feature on Greenskeeper.org and we hooked up. I think he enjoyed the course (he was a first-timer at The Goose). I'm sure he enjoyed it! Mike shot an even-par 35 on the front-side!

As for the conditions....yes, they are overseeding some fairways - it's that time of year where they work hard to keep this wonderful track "wonderful" for the rest of the year. The staff was great...open and honest about what was going on BEFORE we paid. "Four holes are 'cart-path only" - and that was true. The overseeding (looks like Winter Rye) is taking nicely and sprouting already.

They waived the cart fee!! You can't beat that!!

Overall the course in in great shape considereing the time of year...the driving range is a bit pinched due to the necessary work they are doing to keep IT nice...

The fairways (even the ones scraped and overseeded) were in fine condition...and did not effect the play at all.

Overall the greens were pretty good and rolled true - only on #18 did I notice any problem....looks like a fungus-among-us...but again...it was cosmetic and did not effect putting...but I guess it could have if you were below and to the right of the hole.

The staff is great. They are working hard to KEEP Goose Creek the gem that it is!

Need to add a footnote that my husband pointed out. I got a phone call while I was out there, from my son and he asked me where I was. I told him I was in the middle of a cow pasture. To that he asked, of course, "what are you doing in the middle of a cow pasture?" I told him that somebody decided to build a golf course in the middle of a cow pasture! Literally it is out there with the cows and the flies.... well one more reason I won't be back.

What am I missing here? We played Goose on 9/7 and I really don't get what all the raves are about. The course is boring, the greens were COVERED with ball marks, noise from airplanes, maintenance crews everywhere - OK due to overseeding. Thankfully the proshop gave us senior rate at 45 bucks each on a Friday. I guess I am spoiled by OC courses and the resort style courses. I really did not enjoy this course at all and will not return. Check out Soboba Springs, now that's what I'm talking about. However, I must admit the staff at Goose is top notch.

Great layout! A bit overpriced but people are paying it. Scorecards need depth of green yards added to give players the most info to make club decisions. This is a course where local knowledge will lower your score.

8:30 tee time today, front 9 was a little chilly, it was great! The Goose is being worked on. 2 or 3 fairways are torn up, Lift and place, piles of grass,, greens are NOT cut and rolled, they are OK but Slooooow. Most of the course looks normal, but, its this time of year, getting ready to tear it up, punch greens and fairways, sooooo not a lot of UPKEEP going on. Lots of workers which is good but not making the place tidy as usual. Again, its this time of year, we will find this EVERYWHERE for awhile. Maybe a good time to take a break from play,, naaaaaa.

I've probably (actually, I'm certain of it!) written more reviews of Goose Creek GC than any other track in So. Cal. Johnny GK remeinded me by e-mailing me a link from one of my first reviews in 2002.

And if you search my reviews, you will see a consistent pattern. Goose Creek is, without a doubt, the most consistently great golf course we have here.

Yesterday's (Sat. Sept. 1, 2007) round was no different. As a matter of fact...I don't think I've seen The Goose in as great a condition as it was yesterday. Our 4-hour and ten-minute round (not too fast, not too slow) was punctuated by lush and level tee-boxes, lush and verdant fairways (how do they do it in the middle of summer?? I know their water-bill must be astronomical!! If I have any complaint...and this is NOT a 'complaint' - it's that there were quite a few spots that were very wet and bordering on soggy (....but - it's been 105+ out in Norco for a week!! What are ya gonna do???)

The greens were a little slower than normal, but held all shots extremely well (TOUGH pin placements yesterday!! I don't know what side of the bed the greenskeeper got up on...but it was BRUTAL!) They rolled tru (not bumpy at all...) - but the length of the grass seemed to take some of the break out of the normal putt. Like I said...it was a matter of getting used to...there are certainly MUCH worse greens in the area!! The Goose's greens are beautiful...and - I actually think that the people who play there regularly (like me and my group) are starting to fix thier ball marks and a couple of others. There were very few yesterday!

Jim from the pro-shop told us that they were going to mow and roll the greens this week...and that there would be some aeration being done in October.

As always, the staff and the people at The Goose make the experience of playing there a real pleasure. The cart-girl's cart broke down...and Jim himself came out to the 10th-tee to bring us a couple of Diet Pepsis so we wouldn't die in the 100+ heat.

THAT'S customer service, my friends! Eagle Glen and Trilogy (Glen Ivy) - please take note.

As I've said before, and I'll say again...why play anyplace else when there's Goose Creek right down the road!

Conditions are fine for this time of year. Greens were a little beat up. Some greens had ruts in the them on the edges from mower wheels...

We made a tee time for 10:23am, but when we arrived they had us down for 6am! I thought, uh oh, as the gentleman behind the counter huffed and tossed his pencil down. But, they got us right out. Very accomodating.

It's worth the money, as always.

I can add nothing to the dozens of reviews I have written regarding The Goose over my last five years on Greenskeeper.org . Consistently the best-conditioned, fairest test of golf in all of So. Cal. Always worth the drive, from anywhere. And with all of the fine choices along that Interstate 15 corridor, there is no reason why you should not be making Goose Creek a regular stop in your golfing rotation.

Played last Saturday morning at 7:15 A.M. - and - although we had to wait on every single shot - we still managed to get around in 4-hours and fifteen-minutes. I am noticing a nice drop-off in the number of un-repaired ball marks on the Goose's greens.

And - Goose Creek seems to be the only course who has a handle on having a mixture of poa and bent grasses on their greens. All 18 greens were both holding shots and rolling true all day...there was very little lumpiness at all.

And the staff at Goose Creek is top-shelf all the way.

See below, {cheeseburger} agree with all who said this place is one of the best. We think so also, other courses seem to be good then bad, The Goose so far has never been in bad shape that we can remember. Bring some bug spray, might need it on the 2 holes adjacent to the dairy. Most of the time not needed, today it came in handy, just the 2 holes. One more note, we did NOT have to repair very many ball marks, rake someone elses bunker, none of that stuff. We think its because the regulars, like us, REALLY try to take care of the place. It shows.

The Goose has never looked better. Maybe it's been "prettier" - you know - in the Spring after a few good "April Showers" - but - it's looking mighty good out there now for the middle of Summer!!

The fairways were lush...not a bad or tight lie in the fairway all day long. I think they've finally got the watering patterns dialed-in there! The greens held like velcro, and putting was a joy. No "hops-skips-or-jumps" Speed was not-too-fast...not-too slow. Some of the tee-boxes were a little bit soggy, but, there was no problem finding a level place to hit from.

But...perhaps I'm just a little biased. After the round I put together at The Goose this afternoon, who could blame me?? Ya know the kind of round that nobody can believe?? Not even YOU?? The kind of round that makes people wanna scream: "Yeah...SURE you're a FOURTEEN!!"

Well...I had one of "those" rounds there today.

I'm a 12.5 Indexer. I've been right around a 12.5 Indexer most of my adult life. Been as low as 11.2. As High as 15.0. I break 80 like - maybe twice a year. I've probably had a half-dozen or so 78's Broke 80 for the first time about 15 years ago (at Marshal Canyon) Had a couple hole-in-ones in my almost 40 years of playing golf. My lowest round ever (Goose Creek - five years ago) was a 76. Normal round for me: 85 Ask Johhny GK. I've played with him a few times.

So where the heck did THIS come from???

Today, at The Goose (White tees: 69.8/124)...

40 on the front (5-over)
35 on the back (1-UNDER!!!)
Total = 75 - (index 4.7)

I was unconscious. What an incredible day. Eight pars. Three birdies. NO double-bogies. ONE three-putt all day.

THAT messed up my handicap!! Now I'm an 11.7.

Thanks, Goose Creek, staff, grounds and greenskeepers....

I'll always make Goose Creek my first choice for golf in So. Cal.

Why spend your hard-earned cash anyplace else??

Very fun golf course. We were a little affraid at first because it is located right next to a dairy farm, but the smell and flys were not too bad. The greens were decent overall, but it was a little bumpier than one would like. Otherwise, a great experience and a good value if you are near the area... #18 is pretty challenging too.

Great condition especially the greens. Unfortunately there were too many golfers not fixing their ballmarks. All golfers should respect the greens and repair his/hers ball marks and then some. I walked on as single on Sunday early and got sent out within 15 minutes. Kudos to the staffs by sending three 3-somes as opposed to two 4-somes and a 2-somes. Good job.

Some great reviews for the Goose, so what's to add? Price is low (especially compared to some of the OC courses I play) with the same service/conditions/layout. Cart girl very friendly and hit us every four holes, nice on a hot Sunday afternoon. Fairways, tee boxes, and rough are in great shape, too. Pace of play decent. The greens: I remember last time I played they were lightning fast ... not now. Lot's of watering going on, and they're letting them grow out which led to many chip shots stopping short. Not a complaint per se, just something to think about.

Well worth the drive and will come back soon. The cow smell reminded me of being in the country, far away from the city :)

A very solid golf course. You pay for poor shots yet it is still forgiving. The course is very well maintained and i enjoyed the fast pace of play. One of my favorite courses played.

Played 7/15/07. Fairways and tee boxes excellent. Greens pretty bombed out by people who don't fix ball marks and starting to turn brown in spots. Don't plan on eating at the turn - you don't really go by clubhouse - there is a cart girl. My pet peeve is some holes with no ball washer- how hard can it be to have a washer on each hole. My girlfriend caddies for me and she gets tired of licking my balls every other hole.
but I'll be back - fun track.

This was my 1st time to Goose Creek, and I now understand why this course is so highly rated. The conditions were great and the pace of play was fantastic.. The course is in perfect conditions when you consider that when we played on June 30 and it was in the 90's... I will return and, and look forward to playing this course again. Was the drive from West LA worth it, YES.. I hope more westsiders don't read this as traffic on the 60 Freeway would increase. To everyone at Goose Creek, Thank You for making this a enjoyable day....

the goose is playing great. worth the money and the drive. greens are a little bumpy, but overall you can't ask for more. tee boxes are good, fairways good, just a little soggy in places to ward off the high heat. that's to be expected.

Regular Saturday round...6/23/07 - got off right on time at 7:33 - played in 4.5 hours...started a little slow, but Marshall Jim was on the ball and got one of the groups ahead to keep up with the group in front of them. Good job, Jim!

The course was in typically good shape. The greens were rolling as true as I've ever seen them. According to the prior poster, they are trying something new on the greens with mowing and rolling. Well, whatever it is that they are doing - KEEP IT UP! Some of the greens were about a 50-50 mix of poa and bent...and this is usually a big problem (note: Trilogy in Glen Ivy!) - but it's working for The Goose. Perhaps two of the 18 greens were not perfect - but for the most part, they were GREAT!

The bunkers at The Goose have nice sand, but you wouldn't know it. They were so wet (no rain, so it must have been from watering!) that one of them (Hole #10 - to the right of the green) had standing water in it. I was in three bunkers - and all three of them were like hitting out of wet cement.

Still the best dollar-for-dollar golf course in Southern California. I agree with one of the other poster - "Why should we spend our hard-earned $$$ anyplace else". Always a pleasure to play golf at Goose Creek.

My friend and I played this course on Monday, June 11, 2007. We walked it and made it in in three hours and twenty minutes. The course was in excellent condition. It was rated 7.85, but I would rate it probably a 9.50. The greens , the fairways and the ruffs were outstanding . I really enjoyed this round. I could have shot under par by being a little more conservative . But I will take my three over and be happy. I must do it again. My hats off to the management.

Played Goose for the first time today(6/10/07) nice course.
Play was just right did 18 in 4hr 15min.
Greens were in real nice shape. It look like people are fixing their ball marks.
Fairways were nice as well, with just enough rough to make you think twice on club selection.
My foursome is going to put this course in our rotation.

Thanks

June 2nd - Saturday morning round. 7:16 start time - got off at around 7:29 - I don't know why they were a bit behind, but there was no starter out there (that could have been part of the delay. BTW, Goose-people I know you read these comments...the first-tee sign said "Pin Position "B" Today" Wrong-o. It was position "C" I made a par on the first hole, so it didn't cost me - but - still - NO information about pin-placement is better than WRONG information!! :-)

Overall, Saturday had some of the best conditions I have seen at The Goose in a long time! The greens must have improved some since the last feedback - we found them to be rolling - if not particularly "fast" - then at least they were rolling true and fair. Not slow, not "Trilogy" slow, that's for sure. Our entire foursome seemed to like the greens just fine. The fairways were great, as always - but the watering was haphazard - and some of the fairways were over-watered. This is going to cause some problems if those areas are not roped-off, because too-much cart-traffic through those areas will begin to cause tire-tracks in the mud, ruts and damage will follow. The rough was fairly long, very lush - and - seemed to hold the ball up and was not too punishing. I like that. The bunkers were really nice. The last few places that I have reviewed... I have taken note that the "sand" in some bunkers is terrible. The sand at Goose Creek was actually quite good. Very fair...not rocky and lumpy as some places are.

One complaint....nothing to to with the course or the staff...PLEASE! People!! For goodness sake...fix your ball marks!! Waiting to putt, I must have fixed 3-4 extra craters on every green. if you are a good enough golfer to hit the green and make a divot with your ball....you're good enough to know how to bend down an fix the bloody hole!! Way too many un-repaired ball-marks for such a nice place.

Pace of play was perfect. You ever have one of those days where the group ahead of you and the group behind are just perfectly-spaced for your game? The group in front of us stayed just out of range, after the second hole, we didn't have to wait at all for the entire rest of the round. And we never saw the group behind us. Finished the front-side in two-hours - the back in two as well. 4.0 hours on a Saturday! That's the way golf should be!!

Cold beer in the clubhouse, a great turkey sandwich. A super day. The Goose is always worth the drive from Pasadena (50-minutes, door-to-door)

Played the Goose this AM, agree with COCOAM below, greens are Slooooow, maybe a problem in the making as Poa Anna? is taking over the greens, Bumpy, slooooow, ,,,,, Also agree with the cups being rounded, never thought that it was due to not changing location of cups, figured it was those lazy OLDER guys that dip into the cup with their putter and snatch the ball out and leave a nice dent in the cup hole. We place those guys in the same catagory as the dumba**s that spit sunflower seed all over the greens. We also had a LOT of lip-outs. Of course we played SCGA yesterday and then these greens today, Left a lot of early putts VERY short till we woke up. Goose is a very beautiful place, lush, geen, a fun test. I do hope they can save the greens. My guess is they are afraid to cut them close, might lose whats left of the putting green grass. Staff as usual was first rate.

Course in great shape, per usual. The greens were very slow and, since they're poa annua (sp?), it's hard to find your ball mark to repair. So, while you're standing around waiting for your turn to putt, look around and fix 4 or 5 other marks. If you don't, then don't b$tch about ball marks next time you play. Also, the cups had not been changed in a couple of days and were rounded on the rims. Makes for lots of lip-outs.

First time at this course. Course was recommended by relative and his was right. This is a nice course.

Condition as good as any I've played in last few years, though I don't play the really expensive courses. A very good value for the money.

Loved the trees, hit some of them. Sand is noticeable but avoidable if you play smart.

Of course, I would not play here in the summer since it would be too hot.

Would recommend buying the course book if you have not been here before. Just makes it better to play.

Will defininitely play here again.

As usual Goose Creek was in excellent condition. This golf facility is easily the best operation in the Inland Empire, and maybe all of So Cal. The course is always in excellent shape, unless they are doing maintenance, and the customer service is second to none. The reason this course is so great can be traced to its director of operations, Ross Fisher and his superindentant. They make sure the course and its practice facilities are in perfect condition, with good teeing areas on the driving range, high quality and condition of range balls, and a large and very well groomed putting green. This place is the place to play during the week and it is obvious by the difficulty in getting early morning tee times. Call very early a week in advance if you want an early foursome tee time. Definitely the best all-round golf experience in the area.

Always enjoy playing the "Goose" , but in all fairness, the greens are not as good as they were just a few weeks ago. Almost as though they forgot to cut them (Very "fuzzy" and too slow for my taste) Otherwise the course is in great shape. If they could just get these greens fast, this course would really be fun to play, with the "fall-offs" on the greens. One of the better if not best of the muni-tracks!

I can't believe anyone would say that Goose Creek is too short. Do you know that Goose holds many USGA events and is hosting a U.S. Open Qualifier this May 21st?? if you think it's too short then quit playing the white tees. There is not a public course in better shape within like 100 miles. And by the way, try beating Goose's green fees at any public course that you THINK is in as great a shape as Goose Creek!! All other public course aspire to be what Goose Creek is.

Played 5/7. The course is in pretty d%mn good shape like everyone else is reporting. But I'm surprised no one has mentioned the green conditions for reals. It must have happened today, but all the greens had tracks from the mowers in them. They must have cut the greens too low because it definitely was not as smooth and free from holes as others make it seem. Don't get me wrong, i love the goose and play it at least once a month. Just a bit disappointed that the greens were not as perfect as the rest of the course. Surprising in fact.

I save the designation "a TEN" for places like Augusta National, Pinehurst Number 2, Trump National and Cypress Point....but I'll give Goose Creek a solid 8.5. If you like your golf courses green, lush, well-groomed and reasonably-priced...then this place is for you.

Played this morning, (Cinco de Mayo)...and The Goose is in as good a shape as it's been in many years. Only a very few areas of thin (or no) grass on these lush fairways. The greens are firm, roll very well and true, and hold all shots well. Even the sand traps are some of the best around!

Add to this a first-rate driving-range and practice area, a very friendly staff, a decent bar and grill for your 19th Hole experience...there's really not much more you can ask for!

People talk about Goose Creek being too "short". Find the blue-tee stones and play from the tips! It's all the golf course you will ever need. Tee boxes for all levels makes Goose Creek my first choice, mid-week or weekend!

Oh...4.5 hours for a Saturday. It could have been better. We started at 0730. The "rabbits" who got off at 0615 set a good pace and finished in under 3.0 hours...I'm not sure what the hold-up was, but there were some notable back-ups today.

This is one of the very best public golf courses for the money in Orange and Riverside county. Tee's, fairways, and rough are excellent, very lush. Geeens are good and in the last three weeks, getting better. A little slow on several greens, but overall very playable. The staff is friendly and seem to have a great deal of pride in the condition of their course. A great value and and an enjoyable place to play.

OK, everybody's correct, this place is very nice right now, very nice. but, two things need to be addressed, One,,, 18 is a great finishing hole, a par is a win. Two,,,, A beer or whatever on the patio after the round watching those behind you splash in the lake or overcome this terrific par 4. If ya can play it soon, fun course, great staff.

Got put out for our tee time 2 hours late and right away, got into a fistfight with starter over the fact that the course was obviously in crap conditon. No, not really. Just thought I'd get your attention after the string on glowing reviews for this course lately. What can I say? Got out promptly and got to play as a two-some with my brother visiting from NorCal. As always the course was in very nice condition and the greens were medium-fast and generally rolled true. Really the perfect walking course and we did. Course was busy, but moved steadily and we got around in about 4.25 hours. Nice day, nice course, bargain green fee for all of it and to cap it off I shot a personal best today. What's not to love?
