Played 8/12 on the Lakes course and teed off around 10:15. This is my new favorite course in Ventura Co. after playing it only once. The greens were fast and consistent with very few divots and they rolled true. The fairways were in good to very good condition. I was in the bunkers twice during the round , one was compacted and very wet , the other was dry and easily hit forty yard shot on the green. Great layout with the changes in elevations and the course fits the land very well. The pace of play was slow and we finished in just over 5 hours but it is Sunday golf in So Ca so that is to be expected. Every hole was fun to play and standing on a couple of the tee boxes there were some great views of the course and surrounding areas. The only hole that I did not like was the 18th , it was the old 18th hole when there was only one course at RR which was a little bit of a let down after playing 17 really great holes too bad they did not reconfigure it to fit the rest of the Lakes course. Can't wait to get back there and play it again.

Out on the Lakes course with JohnnyGK, Nickesquire1 and RGM2525 12:35pm tee time this afternoon 8/13/2012. Nice staff inside pro-shop. Pace of play nice today. Steady afternoon Oxnard breeze beautiful 75 degree day. Fun seeing everyone bomb their tee shots today. Greens were firm, receptive and in good shape. Probably rolling between an 11-12 on the stimp. Fairways were semi-lush green and in good shape. Several sections of the fairways were more firm and drives were rolling a good distance. The rough was around 1-3 inches and in good shape...not to punitive. The sand bunkers were raked and in good shape with enough soft sand and only wet sand in some minor areas. The tees still showed a slight sign of verticut but were mostly lush and in good shape...minor divot damage. The fringes were green and in nice shape. The layout and conditions are great at this time. This is a must play course in the Ventura County area...especially with the current valley heat...enjoy.

Nice to get back out on one of my favorite So Cal layouts. Enjoyed a very pleasurable mid-day windy round with RGM2525, Longball23 and JohnnyGK. Thanks to Otto for having us out!

The greens were firm, quick and rolled well. The fringes/aprons were very lush. The fairways were also firm and quick, which produced some very long drives in our group. The bermuda rough wasn't long, but it was thick/lush and if the ball sat down, it could be punitive. The sand was well maintained and in good to excellent shape. The only part of the course that wasn't well above average to excellent were the tees. Numerous tees had moderate to severe divot damage and could use some divot repair work.

I find the staff to always be pleasant to deal with and they generally get you out when your tee time is. The green fees are decent for what you get and a breezy day when it's 90-100 in most other areas works for me.

If you are golfing in the northern Ventura County area, this course would be one of my top recommendations both for it's condition and layout.

played 8-3 with longball23 sunset rate of $16. got to the course about an hour early and it is pouring down rain. isnt it august in oxnard? rain stops and we tee of at 3:30 to an empty course in front of us. tee boxes had a slight verticut but does not effect stance. fairways in great shape ball sitting real nice. rough is about 2 inches and a little thick. sand traps in good shape with nice firm sand. greens had a small slit punch that did effect the roll of the ball but give it about a week and they should be rolling fine. pro shop always very friendly. well worth getting out here and playing right now.

Played super twilight with RGM2525 3:30pm tee time on 8/3/2012 just after an hour downpour. Pace of play 3 hours 10 minutes walking black tees. Staff professional and nice. Fairways green, lush ball sitting up. Fringes green and in good shape. Greens were just verticut and balls were bouncing some on them but they were still firm and in good shape. Give them about a week to get back to beautiful A1 shape. Bunkers were in good shape and raked with enough sand. Rough around 2 inches, semi-moist and healthy. Tees level with very little divot damage and in good shape. Course layout is awesome, great views, lakes, bunkers and hazards to avoid. Good cardio workout walking.... for 16 bucks at 3:30pm best deal in the county....well done River Ridge Lakes course.

Played today, the greens were super fast(11.3 stemp), I think they were faster. They were punching the greens, but it wasn't holes, they were small slits. I would hate to think how fast the greens would have been if they weren't being punched. I think they are getting the course ready for the big city tournament being held in a couple of weeks. Overall I really enjoyed playing this course and will play here again and again.

Played Sunday 7/22 twilight with a bunch of GK'ers and LAGG. Course was very accommodating to our large group but very busy that day as there was alot going on at the course, parking lot was packed. Pace of play was slow on the front 9 but picked up and overall and somewhat reasonable at 5 hours. Slowest i have ever played here and unusual for River Ridge, don't let that keep you away. The course is in great condition and will only get better in coming weeks as the fairways heal from recent maintenance. Greens are fantastic and challenging. The layout is fun with a wide variety of holes with elevation changes, doglegs and lots of water hazards. Visually pleasing course that is well worth the drive to the coast for us city dwellers.

Tee'd off at 1:30 on a Sunday after the Brit Open with GK LA Golf League and GK'ers Steve, Larry, and Keith. Great company, great grass conditions, rough other conditions. A steady in your face with on each tee shot, no matter what angle. Was rushed out by the starter to hurry and tee off, but on the 2nd hole, there was 5 groups, and then 6 on the 3rd hole. Cleared up at about hole 7 or so though. I thought the practice greens were evil, but similar style to the course, where many slightly tapped putts can roll past the hole and off the green. Course knowledge is huge here, as water can come into play here and there. It's not too tough a walk besides the climb to the 1st par 3 on the back. Wind can be up to a 4 club swing when right in your face. Never saw a cart girl, but a bunch of marshall who laughed when we discussed the pace, they'd rather make jokes.

Played yesterday with the LAGG and we had a lot of fun out on the course despite the heavy winds, crazy-fast greens and slow pace of play. They had recently aerated the fairways and tee boxes, but they were healing well. A bit dry and crunchy, which resulted in some big bounces and extra roll, but still very nice to hit from on approaches. The rough was in great shape. Cut pretty low and not too penalizing. The greens are still lightning fast as they try to get them back to normal from the recent City Championship. The sign at the starter hut said they were running 12 on the stimp, and with the size and undulation of these greens (not to mention the wind), it made things pretty tough on most of us. Though they were firm and fast on top, they were still pretty receptive on approaches coming in high or with backspin.

I don't love the RR Lakes layout as much as some on GK, but it offers a lot of variety and plenty of challenge. Solid course overall that was well worth the twilight rate we got. I know me, LarryTee, Paisano and sr129 had a lot of fun in our group!
