Tight (would almost call it packed), dormant, bermuda fairways. Greens covered with the green liquid fertilizer, but it was not used to hide anything. Most of the greens were in very good shape as they rolled smooth and fast. Paid the price for being above some of the pins. Good customer service as usual.

We again returned here again in August 2009, and we stayed again in the Residence Inn next door, and this time since the Victoria Lakes course is already open, I played it, since I played the Vineyard course already. The Victoria Lakes course is a much more challenging layout, and since it is much newer, the fairways, tee boxes, and greens are pretty well maintained, and again like the Vineyard course, they mark all the bare spots, so you can take a free drop if you land there. The terrain of the course is much more hillier than the Vineyard, and there is also a good amount of water on the whole course. The highlight of this course is the 15th, where you tee it up from an elevated tee boxes, and it is a long par 4, which is a double dogleg, and there are lakes on both sides of the fairway. The first two holes, and the last two holes of this course (Holes 1, 2, 17, 18) are originally part of the original Vineyard course, while the rest of the holes in the course are all new. The clubhouse in River Ridge is pretty nice and modern, it's an open air clubhouse in the hall in the middle, and the pro shop is pretty specious, the merchandise and equipment are presented nicely. I would recommend this golf course especially golfers from LA, this is the perfect place you can just go for a short golf getaway, and stay and play.

Played on 11/11/11. Was pretty open for a holiday. First time playing on this side, and I liked it more than the Vineyard course. It has more character to the course and is more challenging.

Course condition was good. Fairway was mostly lush. Had some soft spots from the rain the day before. Rough was in good shape. And the greens were fast and rolling (Talked to the course GM after the round and he said it's at 11). It has small vertical slits but it didn't effect the ball rolling.

Would definitely comeback to play. Good course and is well maintained.

Played RR Lakes course this afternoon at 1:10pm....can't say enough good things about the greens...firm, fast and in great shape..will hold with spin...do not want to get behind the pins here putting wise.....fairways decent with enough coverage on most fairways...fairway 3 and 16 more hardpan. Sand fluffy and in good shape, tee boxes level with just enough coverage thin in some spots for my taste. We picked a perfect day today to play twilight but usually wind is a huge factor here. Holes #2, #6 #8 and #13 are all par 4's that will challenge the best of players from the back tees. We let a twosome and a single through on front nine and did not see a soul on the course after them. Love the back nine here and always play it much better than the front which I feel is a tough nine holes of golf....I would recommend this course right now....enjoy

Course is in good condition overall, challenging layout with lots of water, mature trees and a good assortment of differing type holes. The greens are firm and fairly quick with few ball marks. The rough has grown up and makes anything more than a short iron a challenge. Their tee boxes, fairways and sand traps were all well maintained.

Considering early October, the conditions of the course were pretty good overall, but 20-30 mph afternoon winds made for some interesting playing conditions on a twilight Monday afternoon! Greens were firm and medium fast. Traps were well maintained. Fairways/Tees were lush with occasional thin spots. The rough was differing lengths, thick and punitive in spots while in other areas you could draw a pretty good lie. Water in the actual lakes is really down, well below their intended levels.

Played twilight 10/3 on a super windy afternoon on the Lakes Course....the greens are fast and firm and in good shape. You would not even know that maintenance was done on them just 4 weeks ago. The tees were level and had just enough grass coverage and were in good shape. The fairways were on the thinner side and had some hard pan areas but were not too bad. Sand had a firm wet feel to it. Staff inside pro-shop very nice. Great challenging layout especially in the afternoon...

Good value for money golf! Course is in very nice condition overall - especially the greens, considering they were punched only a month ago.

Good value for money golf! Course is in very nice condition overall - especially the greens, considering they were punched only a month ago.

Tees - good grass coverage
Fairways - generally lush with only a few soft or hard pan spots
Rough - juicy in places so watch for your ball
Sand - good sand in both fairway and greenside bunkers. Probably a firmer consistency but fluffy nevertheless.
Greens - very healthy looking! Little sign of aeration, they were generally quick and fairly smooth considering. A few were inconsistently paced but that is to be expected. I would reckon these will be very, very nice in a few weeks and for the rest of the year. Firm-ish too, considering they were just aerated.

Although the course has a spacious feel, there really are no gimmes here with lots of shots over water and with the wind blowing it is a good challenge for all parts of your game.

Shame they are going to be punching the greens next week as they are firm and fast and running fairly true - they look very healthy. They were challenging (aside from the speed) as they would only accept a well struck shot.

Fairways looked a bit dry but that seems typical for here and lies were very good - they were trimmed tight and were firm too so lots of roll. Rough good, plenty of sand in both greenside and fairway bunkers with the consistency on the firmer side. Tee boxes had some kind of aeration but had plenty of coverage and were level.

Nice course overall that seems very well run - saw literally dozens of marshalls/staff. Wind is the biggest challenge here as it is a constant off the ocean - also, the large undulating greens require that you hit to the right area. Otherwise it's pretty open off the tee with plenty of grip/rip opportunities.
