So I saw this course on Golf now for a hot deal on the 3rd November.

first off the Customer Service is really great, the guys in the shop really do try to make everything possibe for you.

I got Paired with another guy George who was a top guy to play the round with, there was very little breeze this morning and having played Wolf back in April which was almost Irish wind it was very nice.

The Course is a nice and fair challenge with a few of the greens sitting up above the fairways and there isnt as much water as the Wolf course, the course for November was in amazing condition and credit to the staff for maintaining it.

There was a few divot marks on the greens that had been fixed by staff but the greens were quick and there was a few little tricky reads on putts so although it may be the so called easy of the "3" Courses here, the Greens will really test you if your rusty !!

Back to my point about pitch marks, if people woul take the time to fix them and say at least one other, it would be so much better on the course as i dont think its fair to blame the golf club

Tee Boxes where in Good condition, I think a couple had a light sanding on them but nothing extreme, the fairways were softish to firm so you did get some run on the ball :)

Overall the rangers coming around where really nice and slow play wasnt a issue, I even had the cool sighting of a Cotoye which the staff said was one of a family.

So I would say that its worth playing the course, as usual the views are stunning with the added sightings of the fighter jets fying over too...

I played the Sun Mountain course at Paiute on August 7, 2012. Like the other two courses on the Paiute reservation, this course was in great condition. Fairways are lush - you rarely will find your ball in a divot. The rough immediately adjacent to the fairway gives an occasional buried lie, but usually the ball can be advanced without too much difficulty. If you stray off line severely, your ball will be in the desert and recovery is unlikely. You might find a jackrabbit or a roadrunner to entertain you, but your lie is going to be on some rocks or under a scrub bush.
Teed off at 7 a.m. which is essential to beat the summer heat, and to avoid the wind, which I understand can be pretty stiff in the afternoons. Playing as a single, the starter was generous in having me start on hole #2 to jump ahead of a foursome, with the promise that I could play #1 at the end. That was the green light for a fast, enjoyable round, done in 2 hours 35 minutes, not being hurried at all along the way.
I do wish that I would have had a yardage book because the tee shots can be deceptive. That's probably something that the course designer - Pete Dye - planned in order to confound and challenge the golfer. I found myself in a few fairway bunkers or off the fairway in the rough when I misjudged distances, and I took the long way to the hole a couple times because I was afraid to cut a dogleg that I should have.
The course is listed at 7112 yards from the black tees and 6631 from the gold tees, but plays shorter because of the altitude and because the fairways are well manicured and shots will run more than a bit. The greens are generally hard and won't hold shots very well, so you have to play for a little run there as well.
The greens themselves have a lot of undulation like many Dye designs. Flags always seem to be placed somewhere near trouble, so the margin of error in approach shots is small. I had a couple of shots that I thought were accurate trickle off the green to collection areas.
The Sun course is pretty much equal to the Snow course in my mind. Wolf is the best course on the property, and the others are a cut below. I like the Wolf's variety of holes and the unusual shots that you see when you play there. That being said I would not hesitate to play the Sun anytime I have the chance. It's a guaranteed fun round.
My favorite hole in the course was #18, a 400 yard par four dogleg left with water left and bunkers on the right near the ideal landing area. #1 is also a good challenge, a long dogleg par four that has the most elevation change (downhill) on the course.
By the way, the course staff is exceptional in their helpfulness and friendliness, as nice as they come.

Oh my god, this course is in great shape. Despite the heat of summer, this place has it down. If you play golf in Vegas, let me tell you that this is the place you want to go. Lush and perfect conditions here from tee to green in a beautiful and fairly challenging layout. Generous landing areas; perfectly maintained tees, fairways, and rough. The sand was excellent in every bunker. The greens rolled true and did not have any damage from unrepaired ball marks. All the personnel we encountered were great and seemed genuinely happy we were at their course. This place is a true gem of a golf course.

What can I say! This is one of the nicest courses I have played...period! After the round we talked about what can we find that was not perfect and the answer was.. nothing. Perfect tee boxes. Perfect fairways, great greens, great bunkers. Overall an immaculate course. I could play here all the time. If you have the chance play here!

Golf Course in Great condition all around, with one exception, the Greens. Not that they were in bad shape, but the problem was they were maybe the fastest greens I have ever putted on. My buddy and I just could not figure them out. If it's possible for them to be a 13 then that's what they were. Other than the Greens had a great time. The course reminds me of some of the Palm Springs desert courses that are in immaculate condition. I had heard they have a lot of wind out here, but none to speak of when we played.
Highly recommended, but beware of the Greens.

What an excellent course. The service was great and I took advantage of their special of $129 play all day and comes with lunch and other free stuff. Make sure you use your meal coupon at the Grill which is quite elegant and the menu is exquisite.

The weather for Jan 29th was spectacular...no wind and sunny. The range was perfect and each of 3 courses boasts its own practice area complete with driving, chipping and putting area too.

This is the second time I visited Paiute and would go back again. I played both Sun and Wolf (which is supposed to be a bit more challenging...but i scored better on Wolf....perhaps my game was on that day).

I would rate this course, based on the 4 rounds I played as the top of my list that weekend. You can't ask for more.

This course puts the other to shame. Fairways were green and lush throughout all 18, in the end of December. Greens rolled very well and rough was just as lush. Bunkers were to only concerns. Nice soft white sand, but not much of it. A very hard base with a slight soft sand layer on top. Layout is fun and not the same for every hole. Great views of the mountains and desert from all angles. It is so quiet and peaceful out there, which is in the middle of nowhere. I would love to come back to play here again.

Played December 23rd, the day after all the storms came through. The course showed very little evidence of all the water that was dumped on it, besides a few soggy spots on the fairways. Wind was really blowing which probably was helping the course dry out. Everything was in great shape, fairways, tee boxes, greens, and rough.

Played New Years Eve. Called at 7:45 and asked to get a single out. Said I had an 8:42 tee time. Put me with two great locals who had some course knowledge as I had not played Sun Mountain before. Bag... Continue »

Played New Years Eve. Called at 7:45 and asked to get a single out. Said I had an 8:42 tee time. Put me with two great locals who had some course knowledge as I had not played Sun Mountain before. Bag staff met me in the parking lot and took my bag. They also directed me to the pro shop. Got to my cart with clubs loaded and headed to the range for all you can hit balls on grass. Putted for a while on very large putting green. A few instructions from the starter and we were off on time.

Played the tips which really did not make the course much longer as I still hit two of the par 5's in 2. Fairways were cut very tight and we got a lot of roll off the tee. Now 3 of the 4 par 3's were over 200 yards. Add a little breeze and they were tough.

Don't remember being in any traps put partners said they were in good shape. Bev cart around on the front but not on the back. Snackbar at the turn was closed. Very good value for $69 during Christmas week. Would be a very tough course with any significant wind.
