It has been a while since I have been back to Paiute. Mostly due to the non resident fee's ranging from $100-200. With that being said I came out to play in the legends never dye event and a great time was had. Originally (before covid) this was supposed to be a 54 hole day on all three courses but they have switched to a 2 on 1 off alternating schedule for the courses. I believe this to be because they do not have enough carts to fill all three courses with 4 carts per group. Sadly snow was closed on sat and that is my 2nd choice behind wolf.

The Conditions right now on the Sun course are A++ from tee to green. Lush Fairways with almost a carpet like feel to them provided great roll out and a pleasant hitting surface if you found it. Rough was thick but the ball usually sat on top or didnt sink all the way in. Just sticky enough to grab your clubs. The sand was fantastic all around and easy to escape from. I did not however like the 4'x4' bunker I found as that is too small :) . Greens were soft enough to leave a mark and ran quicker than expected. It was key to leave shots below the hole.

Right now if a deal is found you will not be disappointed I just like Wolf and Snow better than the sun course. After the round we had drinks and a raffle but our server was not too pleasant which made me drop the service score one notch.

First Time playing this course. Loved the course. Greens were in great shape. Roll was smooth and even. Fairways were lush and green with a reasonable rough about 2-3 inches. Views were fantastic of the mountains. weather was perfect and we finished the round in just over 3 hours.

Played 1/26 with USCDodger and a couple friends. We teed off at 12 and finished about 4:30.

Overall the conditions were fantastic. It's hard to find a spot where I complain about anything in particular. The tee boxes were level and lush throughout the round, the fairways were on the softer side than I expected and were excellent to play from. The rough was consistent and wasn't overly penal when you landed in it. Was still easy enough to advance the ball with your club of choice. The bunkers had very nice sand to hit from and was really surprised at this because of the windy conditions of the course. Nice bunkers and high wind don't usually go together. The greens were harder than I expected given the fairways. Even on fully struck wedges it could be hard to get the ball to stop quickly. The wind was howling all day around 15-25 mph. With 3/4 par 5's and many of the par 4's into the wind it made for a lot of long irons and hybrid into greens.

Even with the heavy wind it was a really enjoyable and fun round. The scenery and desertscape is top notch and the lack of houses and civilization make the day and whole experience even better. This course is often written off as the lesser of the three on property but was still a well thought out design with plenty of decision making and intrigue throughout the round.

Played on Friday, 3/9, with a 10:40a tee time. I had very little interaction with the staff outside of the bag drop/cart barn guys, who were great. Probably the best cleaning my clubs have received at the end of the round (always a little disappointed with other cleaning the clubs). Due to it being the 2nd round of the day, our 3rd took care of paying ($70) and John_T took care of the food and drinks prior. I will say, on a very busy day (thanks for everyone visiting for the 4 basketball tourneys this week), it was incredibly smooth. On the 1st tee a couple of minutes early, and finished a shade under 4.5, waiting on a few with the 4some behind right up on us.

If you haven't read a Paiute review ever, I will paraphrase almost everyone: (1) tee boxes mostly level with some divots on par 3s (2) Fairways like CARPET! Lush but with some run out
(3) Rough was about 1-2 inches, just enough to know you're in it (4) Fantastic bunkers! Semi fluffy and easy to hit out (5) Firm and smooth greens, almost fast Tip: Remember where the highway is from where you are, putts are faster running away from the mountain behind it (6) it's always breezy

Another fantastic day at Paiute. A great recommendation if looking for a great Vegas experience.

Played on Friday, 1/12, with a 10:30 tee time. $65 as a guest of a PACC card holder, which is excellent for Paiute, but the max for me for weekend golf.

We used the bag drop and the bags were set up on the cart after the easy check in. Snack shop at the carts and the one after the 9th was open. For the 1st time ever, the drink cart pulled up to us around the 4th and was OUT OF BEER. Didn't see it the rest of the front but twice on the back. Skipped the bar this time, but definitely worth a stop, great prices and fantastic view.

Parking lot was packed and they were only using 1 of the 2 ranges (Wolf today), which made it seem busy. On the course, never saw anyone in front and we had a 2some stalking us, but every time we would wait for them, they would slow play and not come up. We finished in a shade under 4 hours as a 4some.

Course was in terrific shape. Vegas had rain for 2 days mid-week, and the course took it well. Flat tee boxes, some divots on the Par 3s. Fairways were 100% green and lush. Rough was just 1-2 inches. Bunkers were nice on top, fluffy and loose for the first few inches, still damp below. Greens were firm, minimum amount of ball marks, and rolled smooth at an almost fast pace.

Played on 10/13/17, which was a perfect day for golf. Low winds, 80 degrees, and no clouds. Doesn't get any better for Paiute. I've played all 3 tracks now and I truly enjoy each one, however, my only knock is that the holes tend to blend in together. Especially on the Sun, but trust me the views and conditioning are top notch and this is still a must play when in Vegas.

Course conditions were near perfection. All the courses appear to be coming out of maintenance beautifully. The Sun fairways were 10/10 pristine and as good as I've played on in a while (see pictures). The rough was rather long and very lush/thick. Bunkers were nicely groomed and soft and the greens were pretty true. I would say the greens were medium speed and rolled nicely (although i think they are about 2 weeks out from firming up and being perfect for rest of November).

I really enjoyed our round out here as always. The customer service is very professional and for around 150$ this is a good price considering others closer to strip are well in excess of $200. We will most certainly be back.

Just OK service considering it's Paiute. Dropped the bags at the drop and they were set up on the cart how we asked. Pro shop guy did not say a word outside of telling me the price. Starters were good. They were running behind (there were 2 groups on the tee when we pulled to the starter) and apologized. Drink cart was around twice per 9, and snack shack after 9 was open, even though I took the last hot dog, which wasn't really hot. Pace was 4 1/2 hours. Bartender afterwards was pretty good and the patio provided a great view.

Course was typical Paiute though. Sun has been out of maintenance for a few weeks. Course was spectacular. Nice tee boxes. Fairways were in great shape, 100% coverage and lush. Rough was about 1-2 inches, just enough to cause a problem. The bunkers were awesome. Nice, fluffy sand, probably the best I've seen here. Greens were running on the fast side and smooth as glass. A little firm and not many ball marks.

I love to get out here as often possible but I'm going to have to go as a guest, $65 is the top of the budget for weekend golf.

"Played out at Paiute on a windy 14 Sep 2017 on a GolfNow deal for $40. The course has recently come out of overseeding and other general groundskeeping work. According to the pro shop it has been about 20 days since the work was done, so the course is 99% back to form. The 1% in this case happens to be the greens. The speed of the greens is severely depressed from the 10-11 range to about 8 on the stimpmeter.

This is a Pete Dye course. However, I am not certain if I was just really on for this round or if the "Dye-abolical" one has gotten soft through the years, but I failed to find any hole very punitive for the bad shot. Fairways are wide on almost all the holes, the bunkers are about 95% fair/easy (as opposed to Mr. Dye's normal 95% punitive), and most fairways allowed for a level stance in most situations. The only place where shots would be severely punished would be a shot severely offline. Each of these would be a ball found flying somewhere out into the desert-scape.

Tee boxes around the course are mostly with some mounding found on most tee boxes. If you look a bit you will find a flat spot for a stance and your ball. The fairways were SOAKED as the sprinkler crews were running ahead of us making things very ironic. We're playing a desert golf course on wet, soft, and slow conditions. There was almost no rollout all day. Rough was very much what you would expect from a course in amazing condition. The rough was lush, thick, and could be very punitive in the wrong situations.

Sand Traps: Most who have read my posts know of my desire to play a course with ACTUAL SAND IN THE BUNKERS! That said, this course had it and it was done right! The green side sand was fluffy and soft where the sprinklers hadn't dampened it and was a bit denser and more coarse where they were wet and the crew ran a rake through it to aid in drying and playability. Fairway bunkers were a good mixture of a light top sand and then a pretty solid base underneath. The classic Pete Dye "railroad ties" were found on a couple of holes, but mostly as an aesthetic making the bunkers look like radiant suns. These bunkers have to be the best bunkers I have played in about 3 years.

Greens: As I said before, the greens were slow as slow gets. I had 34 putts (I average 28 putts per round) which included leaving 10 putts way short of their mark. It was a case of needing to have brought a mallet instead of my blade regardless of the weights I might have changed out (if I brought them with me). Beyond that, the greens were relatively true... once you get your head around the fact they were not about to break no matter how much you believe they should. The green complexes were well defined and I enjoyed the "primary" and "secondary" fringe levels. You just don't see that too much.

I am working on a return trip this next month, and if I am able to pull it off, I would play this again in a heartbeat. It really is a great track."
